Riverside Hot Springs Inn & Spa - Adults Only

The property was convenient to the river for tubing, hot springs, and food options. Parking was close and free. The hotel was very quaint and quiet, and we appreciated the gift of a discount for tubing, the free use of hot springs rooms onsite, and the tasty breakfast that was included. There was even a room upstairs with jigsaw puzzles. :)

Very accommodating and friendly stay in this small town. You get to soak twice in the evening and twice in the morning. . Good to be there in shoulder season. The town probably gets very crowded in summer.

Really cool historic hotel, the staff was awesome, parking was easy. The whole town is very walkable from the hotel, the private hot springs were clean and nice. Breakfast was great, my wife and I stay in Lava 1/2 times a year and this was a great experience.

You schedule your hot mineral water tub to soak in. Has a variety of sizes to soak in. You get 4 soaks at 30 minutes in a day time slots. The free breakfast quiche was tasty. Tea and coffee included. The mixed berry crepes was delicious. The staff friendly and king rooms spacious. All in doors and your not needing to leave the building. Bar on site.

Very charming grounds and hotel. Id say the easily nicest in town. Bed comfy, breakfast good and served in a very nice area of the hotel. Quice excellent. Many options. Hot springs were nice. Restaurant had great menu but we didnt eat dinner. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Robes and towels provided. There is a restaurant but prices seam a little high. Live music on Thursday nights. Main Street close by. Public hot spring close by also. Front desk host was very friendly and informative.

Love the history of the building. The private hot tubs with natural mineral water, that were readily available at no extra cost, were great. The lounge/restaurant is fantastic. Sitting on the veranda with a glass of wine watching the river was very relaxing. Be aware, the trains come through regularly, but it didn't bother me. We will definitely stay here again and have a massage at their spa.

We will be back! We really enjoyed the private soaking tubs. The bartender made me the most delicious whiskey sour and the breakfast at the cafe was perfect

The hot spring tubs in the basement were awesome for relaxing after a long day.

One word... dusty. Dusty dried flowers and discarded furniture jammed everywhere, dusty baseboards and sills, dusty carpets. Photos do not depict property accurately. Historic does not have to mean unkept and messy.

Bathroom tub not clean in or side. Window air conditioner had so much dust. It needs to be cleaned

The staff were excellent!!! Friendly, helpful, and kind. The Restaurant was excellent and the food was amazing, outdoor seating was right by the river and enjoyable. The breakfast area staff were also excellent and the food was also amazing, they have they’re very own baker who makes wonderful French pastries.The hotel its self is old the rooms are basic and old, the window seals and walls, carpets and shower curtain were dirty.

I like their free breakfast. The lady cooked the french toast in the kitchen. It was really good and hot pool/wave boat ride is close. The room and building are old and dirty, the portable air conditioner was so loud.

I absolutely LOVE Riverside Inn. Quaint boutique historical hotel. Clean rooms, friendly staff, cute little breakfast place and restaurant, PRIVATE HOT SPRINGS TUBS IN THE BUILDING! We stay there every time we are traveling within a few hundred miles because we love it that much.

Giant overflowing trash cans directly in front of the hotel. Ashtray piled with cigarette butts soaking in water directly at the front door. Are you kidding me? This is such a nice property. Clean up the parking lot!

Old and funky but very nice and comfortable. If you want modern features this is not your place. Most of the staff were very nice but not everyone who worked there had the same attitude. Rooms were clean. The private soaking rooms were a plus but they could spruce them up a bit. New curtains or shades would help.

Our stay at the Riverside Inn was everything we hoped it would be. The staff were all so friendly, helpful and always available. Our room was spotless and had a brand new comfortable bed. I would stay here again!

The portable air conditioner never cooled off the room. It was rough sleeping conditions. Other than that, the room was impeccable and service great.

The hotel was very cute and quaint. And I would give it five stars, except the bed was not good. It had a dip right in the middle and so you would just roll to the center other than that great hotel

Very old traditional type of hotel. Hotel is 100 years old and has its charm. Mattress was way too soft providing no support, old?? A/C did not work in the room which made it very miserable to try and sleep. Close to the Hot Springs which was nice but didn’t make up for not sleeping at all due to heat and poor mattress quality.

The first room we were in was very nice (old but in a cute way) but the window air conditioner did not do enough to cool the room. We were moved to a different room that was dated (maybe updated in the 70s). It had an in room air conditioner that was slightly better then the other. The public areas of the hotel were hot. The mineral spring tubs were nice but combined with the heat in the hotel/room... maybe a great choice for spring or fall but June was not a great time to go. The restaurant in the hotel was very good!

Loved everything except the really loud heater.

Overall it was nice, but they do some really odd things badly. The bed was not comfortable and seemed smaller than a queen. The shower curtain rod is cheap and fell down 4 time (spring not bolted down) no vent fan for bathroom but there is a heater? The door to our room was kinda hard to lock or unlock. The free breakfast was disappointing small and not all of it made there. Staff was very polite and friendly. Neat old building with some great seating areas. Overall I was disappointed I thought they could have done better

My husband and I stayed here for a relaxing overnight getaway to celebrate his birthday, and it was perfect! This charming historic hotel, built in 1914, has so much character, from its original creaky floors to its unbeatable location right on the river. Our room had panoramic river views, and we loved cracking the window open to hear the flowing water—so peaceful! It’s right in the heart of town, with Eruption Brewery next door (their smash burger was delicious!) and the hot springs just a five-minute walk away. The private hot pools on-site were a highlight, and while we didn’t have time for a massage, it’s a great option. Breakfast from the café in the lobby was included with our stay, with a nice selection to choose from—I went with the quiche, and it was delicious. The hotel also has a restaurant, which we didn’t get a chance to try. From the spotless room with its personal heater to the thoughtful bathroom ceiling fan with a built-in warmer, plus the friendly staff and relaxing hot pools, everything was wonderful. We’ll definitely be back!

Nice place. Very friendly staff. Rooms are dated, but the whole building is. It has a lot of character.

It was a shock to check in. I’m struggling to walk and have to use a cane. I had to walk up a flight of stairs to the registration desk to find out my room was another room upstairs. They were saw how I was struggling walking and offered to trade my room for a room that was on the main floor. Sam also helped bring in our luggage and offered to help me up the stairs. The room was advertised ( by Hotels.com) as having spas, massage and soaking rooms; which is why I made the reservation. The description did not say I would have to navigate 2 flights of stairs to use them. I left a message for an ADA room. Management said they sent a message to but I didn’t receive it. It wouldn’t have mattered because the reservation was non refundable. Breakfast was included in the price of the room. Breakfast was short on selection, delicious but was not great if trying to watch your weight. I’m thankful for the people that worked there for trying to make me comfortable. Im extremely upset with Hotels.com for not stating on the main page that there are stairs everywhere in the description. Nor did they make any effort to show the stairs in the photos; they were shortened to edit out. I wish I would have taken pictures that reflected the true conditions.

We stayed for one night on our way back from Rushmore on a road trip. Our plan was to stay next to the hot pools in Lava Hot Springs since we got online tickets to use that facility. The Riverside Inn is a historic property conveniently located with a friendly staff. It wears its age well but it is part of the experience. It doesn’t have elevator or luggage cart however the staff offered help with our bags which was very nice. Dave went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed in the property. We tried their Portneuf Grille&Lounge and were amazed with the espresso drink prepared by Will. The breakfast was cooked to order and delicious, thanks to Colter and Alexa for making it so enjoyable. Overall we had a great time at the Riverside Inn.

Very charming place. They are remodeling rooms. We booked a dog friendly room which we got, it had its own outside door which was very convient. The room had a new bathroom but something was wrong with the plumbing. The sink cold water faucet vibrated so loudly it hurt my ears and the hot water was just a trickle. We asked for a different room. They were very nice about giving us a different room. This room had not been remodeled but it had very comfortable beds. Very good service. Enjoyed the private mineral springs baths. So soothing. The continental breakfast was okay.

The whole trip and experience was 5 star!! From the time of check in with Dave who was very helpful and informative to the dining and lounge experiences with Will who was an excellent bar tender best in the area and as well as Rachael and one other individual who was waiting tables. The inn is very unique and a one stop for everything. The little eatery within the Inn was fatastic as well not a bad thing on the menu. The final checkout with Cat was also a great experience she is a very fun and casual person. All of them were very friendly and professional and treated you as if we had met already before. I will definitely be going back to have another 5 star experience! Thanks to everyone there for making the stay a very memorable one.

Quaint hotel. Next to the hot pools and along the river. Dinner at the hotel was excellent! We also reserved the hot tubs in the hotel. Rooftop bar across the street. Everything was within walking distance. No complaints.

Nice place. It was like a bed and breakfast. Very relaxing by a river. Walking trail by the river led to Lava Hot Springs.

We loved this hotel. Owner greeted us and was very nice, room was comfortable and the bar/restaurant downstairs was great also. The only issue we had was with breakfast ... we gave up after waiting a half hour after ordering as we had a long drive ahead of us. Otherwise all good and would highly recommend.

This is a great place to stay. The hot pools at the hotel were excellent. Also a great dining experience.

Our room was above dining room and smelled like burnt steak all night. Breakfast choices were poor and slow. The hot springs were nice.

The soak in the hot springs was wonderful, as was my dinner. One of the best meals I’ve ever eaten.

High priced for what we got. No warm water to shower in. Food prices were outrageous.

Beautiful historic property. Rooms are redone nicely. Bed was very comfortable. Towels were big and fluffy. On site restraunt could be better, but the wagon wheel across the street was fun and grest downhome food. Breakfast items at cafe were very good. But be aware this isnot fast service. Enjoy the time , breath deep. And relax as the food will not come quickly. Nice self service coffee, tea .

This is an older historical hotel. It is hard to keep an older place up. Carpet a bit worn but overall a good experience. All the staff were friendly. The bar & restaurant on site were Excellent. Chef was top notch. Our scallops were cooked perfect. The 2nd night we had lobster and it was good. A+ to the bartender!
