If you’re on Long Island over one of the busiest weekends of the entire summer, the Whitman qualifies as a clean, safe, and economical place to catch “40 winks!” We live in NJ, and needed to be there to attend a Saturday AM unveiling at a nearby Cemetery … definitely “a fun way” to spend our Labor Day weekend. Since it was, essentially a “utilitarian” visit, we opted for the closest place in the general area that (hopefully) had a clean King Size Bed, and a reasonable price tag. To be honest, there weren’t many options to choose from, and I was getting “sticker shock” based on the prices that were advertised at the nearby chain hotels, motels & so-called “travel lodges.” Based on perusing any number of positive reviews on Hotels.com & Expedia, the Whitman managed to stand out, based on price, alone! Frankly, the rooms were priced almost $100 cheaper than the other aforementioned options. So, I elected “to roll the dice”… and we lucked out - with an immaculate little room, a King Size Bed, a tiled shower, and a perpendicular parking spot that was conveniently located about three feet from the door to our room … just like the old fashioned “no tell motel” it probably was, during its heyday!

My second stay at Whitman Motor Lodge and it is now the default choice when I travel to Huntington Station. The room was spacious, WiFi was good and the water was hot. Front desk and service staff were both friendly, helpful and accommodating. Location suits my needs as is close to the people I’m visiting, too many name restaurants and less than a mile from a target if you forgot something. I can’t say enough about the place, it’s always going to be my first choice.
