Great Value Stay with a Few Minor Trade-offs This was my second time staying at this hotel, and overall, it was a solid experience. The rooms were clean, which is always a priority for me. The bedding and water pressure could be improved, but given the price and star rating, it was expected. One of the standout aspects was the 24-hour security. They did a great job keeping an eye on guests, especially while waiting for Ubers, which added a nice sense of safety. The location is very convenient—central to everything, with a 7-Eleven and an OXXO on either end of the hotel, plus several taco spots and restaurants just outside the parking lot entrance. Street noise is noticeable in the rooms, but that’s to be expected in a city setting. My only real complaint is that I wish the bar stayed open later. It would have been nice to have that option at the end of the night. Overall, it’s a good value stay, and I’d book again.

When we come to gdl we always stay here. Clean comfy beds, great wifi, and centrally located. If you have a car super convenient parking on premise with easy entrance and exit privileges. Definitely worth staying here.

En general es un hotel de mi elección para visitar Guadalajara, es un lugar donde te hacen sentir muy cuidado, en esta ocasión la habitación que nos dieron tenía una vista magnífica, el único detalle al que le pincho baja calificación es a la limpieza de la regadera, había hongos en ella! Pero sin duda alguna seguiré reservando para mis estancias posteriores!

El colchón de la cama estaba muy duro, amanecimos con la espalda muy adolorida. Las almohadas eran unas bolitas muy, muy duras, que también amanecimos con el cuello muy cansado. El desayuno no, nos gustó la salsa verde de los chilaquiles estaba muy amarga, y la chocolateada que pedí estaba muy dulce.

I liked the wide hallways and larger type rooms. The subway entrance was right out the front door of the hotel. I missed not having a fridge in the room or an ice maker on the floor.

The staff are all so helpful and attentive. We had landed so early in the morning that we had arrived at around 8am or 9am and just decided to stay in the lobby until we could check in at 3pm. We were so tired we ended up falling asleep and the receptionist let us check in at 11am so we could rest! I don’t know any other place that would do that! We are so grateful with the staff and the hotel is very clean.

I was given a room that had a lot of noise, they had maintenance working upstairs from my room. I let the front desk know that there was a lot of noise and there response was it would end until 6:00 in the evening. I checked in at 2:45 I requested a chance in room and was told I had to wait till their supervisor arrived at 6:00 in the evening. Poor customer satisfaction, horrible communication and poor work ethics!

The location is close to a lot of attractions and very convenient. It is also clean. Unfortunately I had a bad experience while checking in. I arrived at the hotel at 11:30, but check-in time is 3pm. The staff was very helpful and stowed my luggage and completed the check in paperwork. They told me all I had to do was pick up the key whenI returned. I came back at 4:30 and was told my room was not ready and would have to wait another 30 minutes. They told me the hotel was completely booked and hadn't had time to clean the room and that everyone else had checked in before me. After insisting that I be issued a room, the reception finally "found" a room. The rest of the stay was very good, though my wife was left with a bad impression.

The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from downtown. There are some homeless people in the area, but there seem to be homeless people in all areas of Guadalajara so it's chill. There are some good and affordable dining options less than a five minute walking distance for the frugal traveler. The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean. We had no issues during our stay. My mom and I walked around almost everyday and it was cool. Also... it seems like in all areas of Guadalajara (including in front of the hotel) there are people asking for money. You can just tell them no and it's usually chill. While we were waiting for an uber in front of the hotel, there was a guy who approached us twice and I thought he was going to rob us but he just asked for money again My mom gave him some because she wanted him to leave her alone. The wheel chair ramp may not always be accessible during all times of the night because sometimes people sleep there.

I’ve stayed at this property many times and have reviewed highly, however on this stay I was robbed right outside the front doors. There were 2 other incidents just prior to mine. I stayed off property the next 2 nights and at the desk was simply told I would not receive anything. I love the hotel and folks there but their apparent lack of concern was troubling and acted as if it was normal occurrence.

Visit Guadalajara for the first time from Texas. We absolutely loved the Hotel Portobelo. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. It’s a 10 minute walk to center of city . Would definitely recommend it.

Food was mediocre at best with limited varieties for the inclusive meal. The servers need better training. They mostly conjugated together in plain view of diners. When we needed assistance we had to get their attention by waving at them. Crazy because the restaurant was never full.
