The hotel is well located just opposite the JR Otaru station. The room is clean and decent. The size is quite standard in Japan. It will be starting renovation in April and we are excited to stay afterwards.

I stayed at another Dormy Inn in Kyoto before, and the check-in experience there was excellent. They even wiped the wheels of my luggage, and the overall service felt very attentive. This time in Otaru, they encouraged self-service check-in machines, and both the late-night soba and breakfast were quite crowded. Overall, it didn’t feel like the same level of hospitality as my previous stay...

The staff was friendly and courteous, but the hotel was in bad need of an update. Stained carpets in the hallways and rooms (we had 3), cracked and stained sinks in the rooms, and scuffs on the walls. The rooms were extremely cramped and it was impossible to do anything without being on top of each other with two people in a room. Just barely enough space for a single person. The onsen was the hotel's saving grace. It was very nice and well-maintained. We stayed at the Dormy Inn at Asahikawa as well, and that location was far and away better in every way. Clean, more spacious, and felt good to be there. I would not stay at the Otaru location again.

The staff and amenities were awesome. I booked it mainly for the onsen and it did not disappoint. They also had free washers for laundry. You had to pay to dry the clothes but 20 minutes for ¥100 was very affordable. I would definitely stay here again.
