Great location made it easy to get to many attractions. Perfect for our weekend stay. Was great to be able store luggage before and after checking out, gave us more time to explore the city. Would definitely stay here again. We had our family of 6 and got a family suite with plenty of room.

Excellent communication with host. Made the whole process seamless. There is no street parking but there is a paid garage basically across the street. Property is very accessible and clean, front receptionist is available and property managers are available 9-5. Room was very clean, we were very impressed at how well kept it was. We were very comfortable and did not feel cramped even though it was 5 of us. My only issues were that the hot water was not very hot more warm and the tub kept backing up so we had to wait between showers. I would also recommend you bring your own wash cloths/towels. Other than those i would highly recommend this place and will surely be back. The price can not be beat and it was like living in a comfortable Manhattan apartment. Great stay!!

The location was great-we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. We stayed in the penthouse, so we had a private outdoor area with an igloo. That was lovely to sit in after a busy day. We were very close to the Empire State Building. The management was always very quick to answer my questions and allowed us to leave our luggage there until we needed it. The price was reasonable, in comparison to other hotels. The room was tiny but very clean. The outdoor area was a definite plus. There were 5 of us in our party, and it is hard to find someplace for 5-but this was perfect.

The reception 1 person was very helpful. They allowed us to drop off bags prior to check in and also watched them after our checkout time so we didn't have to carry them during our time exploring the city. Communication was clear.

Okay, small rooms, a little noisy, great location, they say laundry services, but note that it cost us $30US to do 2 loads as you need to buy a card, $10, then load it with cash, no return of card and so we left with a card we’ll never use with $6 on it.

Very close to tourist attractions, restaurants and with easy subway access. Check in was fast and easy as was check out, and the hotel offered to hold our bags at no extra cost.The first night was rough with other guests being loud beginning at 2 or 3 a.m., and on the second night there was loud traffic noise until around midnight. The following two nights were restful. We needed a room for 5 people and this hotel was perfect.

This hotel was perfect for our NYC trip. We loved having the kitchenette to be able to eat in (especially to store and reheat our leftovers). The bed was super comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was amazing! The location is great. It is about a 5 minute walk to Herald Square and about a 15 minute walk to Times Square in one direction and to the Flatiron district in another. Being in Korea town, we had some amazing Asian food and our favorite pizza, Little Italy pizza is just around the corner, right across from the Empire State Building. The apartment style of this hotel is nice and gives you an idea of what living in the city is like. We would definitely stay again!

The property was decent. The room was not extremely clean. I found hair from other people. There was one cockroach. Don’t leave food out. Everything else was ok. For the price and location, I can’t complain too much. Also, traveled with small children and got a room with a shower. No bathtub.

It was very good experience. Our host made sure we had storage before check in and after check out time. The place is very easy to find and great location. We walked everywhere. The room was very clean and warm. Sheets were clean and organized. Definitely coming back in the future. Great place for the price, great restaurants also. First time visiting NYC for holidays and loved it.

The room smelled like ethnic food but not in a good way. It seemed fairly clean but the bedding had some small stains on it. It was bare bones: no tissues, no shampoo or soap samples. It was pretty noisy with doors slamming at all hours. The room looked much bigger in pictures. It was acceptable but disappointing.

The room was in terrible condition. When we arrived, we immediately noticed several strands of hair on the linens, which clearly hadn’t been cleaned. The pillows had yellow stains, and the bathroom had mold and a strong mildew odor. To make matters worse, we saw roaches crawling near the sink. We ended up leaving the room at 1 a.m. because we couldn’t even stay for a full night. When we went to drop off the keys at the front desk, the staff member on duty had bloodshot red eyes. After we explained everything that had happened, he didn’t ask any questions or seem concerned—he just continued scrolling on his phone. I reached out to the hotel afterward and was told they are still deciding on what to do, but I haven’t heard back from them since.

Very nice place to stay! It was really clean, very comfortable beds, room was very nicely done. Bathroom was beautiful with everything you needed(exvept there were no hand towels provided) but other than that great place and location for the price....would Absolutely stay here again.

The room was not as described, it’s very small, very dirty and poorly run. I can’t believe Expedia allow this hotel to be on their website. I also can’t believe that anyone has given this hotel 10 out of 10, in my opinion the reviews are made up.

The room was as expected in New York…pretty much just a bed and a bathroom. The room itself was clean and the beds were made, but when we pulled back the sheets there were a decent amount of noticeable long hair in/on the sheets.

The property itself seemed clean but when we woke up in the morning there was a giant cockroach in the room. The building hallway was not the best-smelled and was generally unpleasant. The actual room was a good size for our family of 5. The host was very responsive. For the price and location it was a good deal but we probably won’t return due to the cockroach and the gross hallway and elevators.

Hotel is nice, clean and management is communicative. Nice to have a kitchenette area with cups, plates and silverware as well as a fridge and microwave. Downfall is the pillows are so flat it doesn’t feel like you even have a pillow. The shower is super small and the closet doesn’t have alot of room for 4 people to hang clothes. Still, I would stay again

Room was clean and check-in was quick and easy. Bed was comfortable but pillow was flat. There was a horrible knocking all night in the radiator pipes. Not being used to this type of old heating system, we didn't know what to do. Just kept us up all night.

Stayed with 2 friends and loved it. They kept our bags before and after we checked in/out, which was a huge bonus. We were a little worried when our room was next to the elevator but we didn’t hear it. The room was clean and comfortable. It’s a small space, so there are no chairs to sit but the beds were comfortable. We appreciate the fridge, microwave and dishes. Henry was phenomenal with communication- including how long water might take to warm up, etc. I would stay here again with my friends and family.

From the start of the trip and throughout, the host was extremely responsive and helpful! The room was perfect for our family of 4. A twin bunk bed in NYC is not an easy find! It was super close to the subway, many restaurants, shops and stores. The check in and out was a breeze!

The room was just very small, very stuffy and the walls were paper thin. You could hear everything throughout the Halls. Not to mention the beds were just not comfortable at all. We ended up only staying one night and moved to a different hotel for the remainder of our trip.

The room we stayed in was extremely small and did not match the pics on the website. The bathroom was ridiculously small and also didn’t match any of the pictures. Towels were thin and rough. The bunk bed ladder was made of rod iron and about a 1/2” wide. Made it difficult to climb up and down, especially in the middle of the night. Positive aspect was it was very close to the subway.

The room was semi-clean and in a great location. However, a smoke detector beeped most of the night, keeping me awake. The hotel says they have 24 hour reception, but they do not. They simply have a security guard on duty who cannot help with building maintenance or guest issues.

The noise coming from the building at night prevented us from sleeping much at all. It sounded like there was someone banging on a metal pipe behind the wall intermittently throughout the night, but I think it was something in the building’s heating system. The staff seemed overwhelmed and rude with the exception of the nice guy who does all of the initial communication and checked our luggage in. In the morning there was a person pooping in the internal doorway. Not great.

Our family group of 8 ladies stayed in the duplex room for 3 nights. It was absolutely perfect for our needs. Nothing fancy, but a clean place to sleep and shower in a safe, easy to navigate location. Staff was helpful both in person and over the phone. I would recommend this room to a friend and would stay again myself.

Quite a good hotel right in the center of Manhattan. Room was very clean and communication before arrival was excellent. We even could check-in 1hr before normal check-in time which was very pleasant after a long flight. On checkout day, free luggage storage was provided in a secure area (room behind reception-1). I'd stay here again when in Manhattan. It must be noted that there are different hotel providers in the same building/same address. Judging by reviews, the other hotels seem not as good, but Hotel and the city-Midtown is recommendable.

We (mum and 2 teens) had a perfect stay at Hotel and the City. For this price we got more than we could expect! Great location, clean and safe room and building, modern rooms, friendly staff etc. When travelling it is often difficult to find rooms that fit more than 2 persons. This hotel is a blessing in that regard. We especially appreciated Bear Donuts next door, H-mart on the next street and that the MTA is 75 meters from the hotel door. By foot, by MTA or by rideshare/cab you can get anywhere.

The hotel is very close to Empire State Building, Madison square garden and Penn station. The room was nicely decorated and clean. The hotel staff sent clear messages before arrival with information regarding location, check in routines etc. All in all we had a pleasant stay!

Good communication before stay. The location is really good, close to empire state and a short walk to Times Square. Was able to check in early. Space is small but it’s expected in a big city. Not a lot of natural light but we only wanted to sleep there so it was perfect. Clean. Microwave. Easy to leave bags on last day while we were exploring then came back to collect before going to airport.

Hotel and the City is a good place to stay if you are looking for somewhere good value and central in Midtown, New York City. The building is in an OK location just off Broadway and close to subway stations. The rooms are conversions of old apartments - some floors still have permanent residents. We rented one of the rooms on the top floor. It had two double beds pushed together and bunk beds, with enough room for six people to sleep. There is an en suite with shower and a kitchenette with stove, microwave and fridge. Everything is fairly recently modernised so I’m good condition. Best of all on the top floor the rooms have access to a small private patio area. It has seats for six and a large umbrella for shade. Plus views of the Empire State Building! The place seems popular with families and small groups. There’s a laundry and snack machines downstairs behind the security desk. Overall the place feels safe, isn’t too noisy, is handy for all the sights and it’s great to be able to hang out outside in the evening. We would come back here again.

Loved this hotel! Our room was clean, comfortable, and updated. Reception 1 took excellent care of us. The location was super! Literally a couple of blocks from the Empire State Building, and Blank Street Cafe!
