I found the place to be very plain. Staff were limited to talk to. Not a very good breakfast that was £15. The room was ok and the bed was nice

Just going through a refurbishment I think from Sheraton to a Marriott hotels or vice versa , so a good price currently to stay there, sink and bath water first ran yellow but cleared, couldn’t sit on the toilet with the bathroom door shut, design odd, but nice staff, good location.

The hotel was going through some changes as they had stated well in advance. Staff were very helpful, rooms were as pleasant as they have been in the past with a new lick of paint in places around the hotel. The room was plenty big enough for our family of 4 and would stay again. NCP car park is just next door so easy to park and go straight in. Great location next to the castle too

Once we actually managed to locate the hotel everything was fine. Nice room and very quiet hotel with friendly staff. Problem was finding it! The only building we could find with St James on it was closed up. Eventually we realised from searching Google photos that the hotel was across the street with a new name on it! They were in the middle of rebranding to a Marriot hotel! Advance warning of this would have been useful both to us and the three other parties we assisted during our stay. Poor communication. Having said that I’d be happy to stay again as it was a reasonable price and in a good location.
