The room AC is on a timer set by God knows who and switches off in the middle of the night and you wake up stuffy and uncomfortable stumbling to the control and restarting. This is very annoying.

This is a really nice little place in a great neighborhood. One of the best things is that it has an elevator so there is no dragging the luggage up a staircase. The rooms are clean and are serviced daily, and in fact I was impressed with the overall cleanliness of the hotel. I did not have the breakfast, but they do offer it (come on, it’s Paris, go get that espresso and croissant). The hotel is literally a one-minute walk to the Bastille metro stop, and the St. Paul metro stop is about five minutes walking in the opposite direction on Saint Antoine. Lots of restaurants, cafes, shops, pharmacies and grocery stores on and around the street. The staff of the hotel is personable and very helpful. If you have questions about anything, they will will help you out. I love the Le Marais neighborhood and it is safe to walk late at night. Place Vosges is about three minutes away with a lovely square and art. There is a laundromat right around the corner, less than a minute walk, just turn right out the front door and take the first street to the right. My window faced the street and it can be a bit noisy at times, but it wasn’t too bad. No fridge in the room but there is instant coffee and tea. The only weird thing was that in my room, which was a single, the entrance to the shower was right next to the commode instead of at the front.

Le Monsieur présent à mon arrivée le soir est très sympathique. Rien à dire là dessus. Je monte dans ma chambre que j'ai payé 146€ et là... Je fais demi tour pour redescendre voir le réceptionniste pour demander s'il n'y a pas d'erreur. La chambre est minuscule, avec un lit qui ne tient pas en place, il glisse sur le sol. Le lavabos est tellement petit qu'il ressemble à un lave main. L'entrée de la douche se trouve du côté du toilette ! Il faut se contorsionner pour aller faire mes ablutions. Même pas la place pour poser ma valise !... Pour me faire le café, je dois trouver une prise qui n'est pas à proximité de la table. C'est une honte de mettre HOTEL 3 ETOILES ! c'est un confort spartiate au niveau du 1ère classe !

I would recommend. Area was perfect location - generally quiet except for Friday and Saturday nights. The hotel was close to two Metro's, many cafes and restaurant options, and walking distance to sites including the Notra Dame. Staff was professional and the hotel was secure. Key cards had to be used to enter the main door and elevators, and there was always a staff member in the lobby area with visibility to the door and luggage lockers. Room was efficiently set up and clean. Small but to be expected given it's Europe. The bathroom was very tiny, hard for average sized male to maneuver (lots of knee and elbow bumping). The air conditioner worked well, but each time we reentered the room we needed to give some time to cool the room since all electricity would automatically turn off when you left the room/unplugged your key card. We wished they could have added a tiny refrigerator in the room or even an ice machine in the lobby.

Renovated rooms; excellent shower, sink in bathroom. Very clean. Air conditioning was excellent and very easy to adjust. Double-paned windows meant an almost total block of outside noise. Staff is very accommodating. Super easy walk to Place des Vosges, the Seine, excellent laundry mat around corner. Bakeries, Monoprix, Post Office, all close by on rue St. Antoine.

Excellent little hotel near Bastille. Good connection links all round the city. Lots of restaurants very close to the hotel. Including several cafes for breakfast. (We didn’t opt for breakfast at the hotel as it’s cheaper and nicer to eat out) The hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful. The room was compact, but very comfortable and perfect for our two night inter-railing stop over. Easily walkable from Gare de Lyon, good connections via Bastille by metro and bus. Right next to Le Marais - great shopping and traditional Parisian streets and away from the uber tourist areas around the Eiffel Tower and Champs-Élysées. I would happily return to this hotel.

I was impressed with this little hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Paris. A bonus however was that this hotel was immaculate. My room was cleaned from top to bottom every day.

Hôtel très propre et récemment rénové. La chambre est petite mais bien organisée. Ascenseur pour accéder aux chambres. L’emplacement de l’hôtel est vraiment chouette, avec pleins de restos et de boutiques, en plus d’être proche du métro et des endroits touristiques. If you’re planning on spending some time staying in this part of Paris, you’d better have some deep pockets, or rethink what your accommodation needs to be. We are always leaning to the more economic place to stay because we recognize we won’t be spending all that much time in our room. La Herse d’Or is one of those choices. Its austere room, that we enjoyed, had a small bathroom that included a toilet with a sink you could rest your head on while on the toilet. The shower had a head that fired water towards the corner of the tiled area, but had no curtain or barrier to stop the water from leaving the elevated bathroom to the bedroom. The water damaged door illustrates that water control might be an issue. Now all that said, the hotel is clean, the staff great and very helpful, but it’s quite institutionalized. If that’s not your deal, and you want to stay in the neighbourhood, good luck.

Great place in terms of location. 1-2 min walk from Bastille metro station. I got the single room where it's not obvious but please be aware that the bedroom/bathroom is the same room so no separation. My room also had a drain smell so I had to keep my window open to ensure proper ventilation. Saying that, super friendly and helpful staff. Great price and location. Bed also very comfortable and supportive mattress.

Stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip to Paris. Didn’t get to sleep before midnight every night due to the walls being paper thin and being able to hear everything that was said in the next 2 adjoining rooms. Doors banging all night with people going in an out of rooms. Was more like a hostel than a hotel. The room was clean and of a decent size however the bathroom was so small it was almost impossible to sit on the toilet without smashing my knees on the sink. The room had tea and coffee making facilities but no milk. I asked downstairs at the non existent reception for some milk and was told that they do not provide milk and I had to buy it to go with my free tea and coffee. Bed was rock hard and the room had 1 window which opened on to an internal tower that was open down to the ground floor so every time anyone came in the front door you heard them. No external window in my room. To end on a positive the location was great with loads of food options on the front door.

For the price it was perfectly acceptable, nice clean and relaxing bed, very tiny bathroom, and small room. As expected with a hotel in this price point. My only suggestion, the walls are thin, you can hear everyone walking and whispering so bring ear plugs. Not bad enough where I would spend a ridiculous amount more per night elsewhere, but I got my money's worth. The staff were also wonderful.

The room itself was okay. However the walls were so incredibly thin that your next door neighbours might as well be in the room with you. The plumbing is also incredibly loud and we could hear every time anyone around us flushed the loo. Staff were okay. Location is great

Hotel de la Herse d'Or is a fantastic hotel in a terrific location. Surrounded by amazing cafes and right next door to the Marais district, it was the perfect spot. The staff were more than accommodating with all our requests and the room was clean and welcoming. The thing I DO NOT recommend is booking on Hotels.com. They were extremely difficult to deal with. After contacting them 30 times or more over the course of 2 weeks to try and change my reservation that I had made 8 hours previously, they eventually told me they couldn't help me. After contacting the hotel directly, everything was cleared up within minutes. DO NOT USE Hotels.com. Use any other booking service or book through the hotel directly. Hotel de la Herse D'or is lovely and worth it.

Very nice hotel steps from public transportation. Staff couldn't be more kind and helpful. We're a family of 8 and booked 4 rooms. The hotel is conveniently located in a lively neighborhood just a few steps away from the metro Bastille and packed with restaurants and coffee places. In the nearby area there is the beautiful Place des Voges. The hotel has undergone major refurbishments which makes it now cleaner and neater. Sofia the girl at the reception has always been nice and eager to help. If you are looking for a place to stay in the City of Lights without spending a fortune, this is a very good choice highly recommended

We didnt take advantage of the breakfast choosing instead to start our day by walking down Rue Rivoli and grabbing something along the way. The hotel is close to everything if you have dome stamina. About 75 minutes to the Eiffel Tower. We would stay there again. We recommend this hotel to anyone wanting an affordable, clean, and convenient stay with really friendly staff!

La personne qui nous a remis les clefs de la chambre parlait à peine français, compliqué de se comprendre, la fenêtre de ma chambre était grande ouverte, en novembre, la chambre était glacée, et quand je le signale on me dit « il suffisait de fermer la fenêtre et de mettre le chauffage » pas dormi le de la nuit à cause du froid, il a fallut un long moment pour que la chambre ne reprenne une température convenable. Petit déjeuner très limité pour 15 euro.
