Located 6 minutes or so from the T1 tram station at Karakoram and the M2 metro at Halic. Nearby there are several fish restaurants. Very few grocery stores, none that sell liquor. Hotel rooms, bathrooms are tiny. Elevator capacity is 3 people. Breakfast buffet is not abundant, just the basics. Only black, filtered coffee available, no machine that can dispense espresso or cappuccino. Boiled and scrambled eggs provided, omelette is extra.

Good location, one block from the Bosphorus. The hotel is divided in two buildings that are not connected, the second one ‘more modern’ is in the back that you have to access via a dark dirty alley. The entrance to the second building smells like rotten fish.

We paid for a room with a view of the Mosques and the Golden Horn, however the windows providing those views had bird crap on them. The Manager said he could do nothing about it. The lifts in the hotel can only fit two people, which was an annoyance during busy periods. If you can avoid it, do not take a taxi arranged by the hotel. They will quote you one price and at the end of the journey, you will pay more. I think the hotel staff are in league with the taxi drivers and get a percentage of the taxi fare.

La vue du restaurant (soir et petit déjeuner) sur le toit est époustouflante et magique à 180° sur la golden baie du Bosphore avec les mosquées de l'autre côté de la baie et les bateaux qui circulent. Le directeur commercial Monsieur Ali a été fantastique en nous proposant des excellents tours et une chambre plus adaptée au calme que nous souhaitions, dans le second batiment (derrière celui de l'entrée) plus récent et très calme avec des climatisations récentes silencieuses et vue sur le Bosphore, pendant 6 jours car l'immeuble au dessus de l'entrée donne sur une rue passante bruyante et les clims sont très bruyantes. A l'accueil M. MAVLUT et M. MAHMUT ont été aussi très attentionnés, accueillants, chaleureux, très aidants et très professionnels. De l'hôtel il suffit de traverser la baie à pieds par le pont qui est à 200m, on peut prendre le métro sur ce pont (y acheter une carte de métro dans une machine automatique qui se trouve dans la station sur le pont et la charger avec un peu d'argent par cette même machine (une carte suffit pour payer les transports pour deux)). Le petit déjeuner est comme si vous flottiez en tapis volant au dessus de la baie et d'Istanbul dans le matin qui s'éveille et les champs du prêtre muezzin qui appelle à la prière quand vous ouvrez la fenêtre de votre chambre. Même pour un Chrétien c'est très beau et magique. Nous recommandons l'équipe et l'hôtel mais prenez le bâtiment qui donne sur le Bosphore et demandez la vue mer.Jean-Charles et Sumarni

We stayed on top floor (9th) which had great view of the little Bosphorus. Short walk to public transport, and central for fish restaurants. The street below seems filled with trades supply shops. So not so classy however safe to walk around Hotel has a decent restaurant on top terrace with great views while dining. Breakfast was great and lunch and dinner is avail with the typical menu of kofte, fish, chicken and salads and beverages Staff was helpful One thing to note, if your a/c is not working, just ring the reception as they have a seperate switch If you travelled with the bus from airport, get off at taksim however the you may find it hard to get a taxi, you need to walk to corner in the direction of hotel. And if you are lucky enough to get a taxi they will charge a fixed rate (not meter), at the time of this note cabbie asked 100tl, approx $4usd. Which is a fair price but if you can convince one to take you

Perfect location to the main attractions. Hotel is next to the Golden Horn River, 5 mins walk to the Galata bridge, to the tram station, Halic metro station and Galata Tower. Make sure to ask for a room in the new building. The smaller old building is kind of outdated. Lots of eating shops along the Golden Horn. So glad that I chose this hotel. Hotel also has a rooftop restaurant with excellent views.

Ich hatte kürzlich das "Vergnügen", im Golden City Hotel zu übernachten und muss leider sagen, dass meine Erfahrung alles andere als zufriedenstellend war. Von Anfang an wurden wir von den Mitarbeitern am Empfang äußerst unfreundlich behandelt. Es schien, als ob sie keine Lust hatten uns zu helfen oder auch nur ein Lächeln aufzusetzen. Besonders enttäuschend war, dass man uns nicht einmal gefragt hat, ob wir ein Babybett für unser Kleinkind benötigen. Das Zimmer war sehr eng und das Doppelbett winzig. Des Weiteren waren die Fenster in unserem Zimmer undicht, was dazu führte, dass ständig Lärm und kalte Luft eindringte. In der Duschkabine waren Schimmelflecken vorhanden, was auf eine mangelnde Hygiene hinweist. An 2-3 aufeinanderfolgenden Abenden lief das Wasser im Badezimmer (sowohl im Waschbecken als auch in der Dusche) braun. Wir mussten eine halbe Minute warten bis es wieder klar wurde, um es nutzen zu können. Was mich besonders gestört hat, war die Tatsache, dass das Personal nicht einmal die Höflichkeit besaß, die Gäste zu begrüßen, wenn sie ihnen begegneten. Das einzige Positive, das ich über meinen Aufenthalt im Golden City Hotel sagen kann, sind die Mitarbeiter, die für das Frühstück zuständig waren. Sie waren immer sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Auch die Lage des Hotels war sehr gut. Dennoch reichen diese beiden Punkte bei Weitem nicht aus, um meine Erfahrung im Golden City Hotel zu verbessern. De ligging is prima. Beschrijving dat galata op 400 meter ligt klopt niet. Schoonmaak is slecht, beddengoed vies. De kamers ogen oud. Niet hetzelfde als op de foto's. Verder is de eenpersoons lift irritant, het duurt soms tot 10 min boor je boven of beneden bent. Uitzicht van het restaurant is super mooi. Het ontbijt is eentonig en karig. Baliemedewerkers waren wel vriendelijk. Schoonmaak was onder de maat. Ook krijg je enkel op de eerste dag shampoo/wattenstaafjes etc, deze worden niet aangevuld. Dingen op de grond worden niet opgeruimd. Ook wordt het beddengoed niet dagelijks verwisseld. Soms wel/soms niet.

My stay at this hotel was a terrible experience from start to finish. The receptionist was rude and unhelpful, setting a poor tone from the beginning. I had to switch rooms twice due to the first two being infested with flies, and while the third room had fewer flies, it was still unacceptable. To make matters worse, the entrance to the back 'new' building had an overpowering stench, reminiscent of dead animals, which was both unsettling and disgusting. The only positive aspects of my stay were the bellboy and housekeeping staff, who were friendly and professional. Unfortunately, their kindness couldn't make up for the numerous issues. I would never stay here again.

Je vous remercie infiniment tout les personnels pour vôtre gentillesse et votre professionnalisme. La chambre et identique aux photos, l'hôtel ainsi que les chambres sont très propre. Services rapide et agréables. Buffet de petit-déjeuner délicieux et variés entre salés et sucrés. Localisation de l'hôtel stratégique. Franchement c'était une expérience top du top.

Das Hotel liegt unweit der Galata- Brücke an einer recht stark befahrenen Straße. Wir sind sehr früh morgens angereist und haben unsere Zimmer trotzdem beziehen dürfen, obwohl das offizielle Check in erst um 14:00 Uhr wäre. Sehr freundliches Personal. Die Zimmer und Badezimmer wurden täglich und ordentlich gereinigt. Täglich wurde man von einem angenehmen sauberen Duft im Zimmer begrüßt wenn man nach einem langen Tag ins Zimmer zurückgekehrt ist. Die Rezeption des Hotels ist 24 Stunden besetzt, und hier bekommt man alle notwendigen Infos rund um seinen Aufenthalt. Das Frühstücksangebot ist seeeehr gut und vielfältig. Wir kommen bestimmt auch ein 4. Mal zurück. Danke an das gesamte Team !

Unser erstes Zimmer war nicht wie Beschrieben heisst kein Meerblick und zusätzlich waren die Fenster undicht das es einen leichten Zug gab im Zimmer und der Lärm sehr störte. Die letzten zwei Nächte haben wir ein neues Zimmer bekommen da eine dritte Person dazu kam. Dieses Zimmer war im hinteren Gebäude und war Top sowie schallschutz und kein lärm, Ausstattung war besser. Die Lage ist 1 besser gehts nicht. Im ganzen war ich nur mittelmäßig zufrieden wegen der ersten zwei unruhigen Nächte.

The location of the Hotel is very good. It\'s just a few minutes walk to reach the Galata Bridge and hence most of the main tourist attractions are in walking distance. Probably the best thing about the hotel is the view. I had one of the "panoramic view" rooms and it was amazing, especially at night. Only topped by the view from the roof of the hotel where a restaurant is located and where you get breakfast. The staff was friendly. Rooms are not very modern, but clean. It wasn\'t a problem for me, but I could imagine that for some people the constant noise from outside might be annoying. But well, it\'s in the middle of the city and Istanbul is noisy. So I guess it\'s what to expect. All in all I enjoyed staying at the hotel a lot.

I booked a room with panoramic view. It's the whole reason I chose the hotel. Upon arrival, only a regular view room was given. They should be more honest with the room description by removing the wrong picture and honor the room type per booking.

I stayed at this hotel in 2012 and would say it was better then. The breakfast was better then. The air conditioning in our room was not cold enough even set at 16 degrees. The mattresses in the rooms where not the most comfortable and far too soft. The room window would not close tightly and hence could hear the traffic all night long. The rooms were clean, showers were also good, however in some of the other rooms my party stayed in the shower cubicles were tiny. Front reception staff were nice, Ilker and Mahmud. Staff at breakfast time were not very friendly either. Best thing about this hotel is the view from the roof restaurant area, overlooking the city.

Booked a panoramic view room which was expensive for 4 nights but which i am glad i did. In retrospect, the rooms are not huge and although they are justc a place to sleep, a normal room would in my view be quite claustrophobic. The panoramic room, afforded beautiful views of the Bosphorus and surrounding area. The breakfast was typically Turkish and is served on the top floor of the hotel with magnificent views. Cleaning of rooms were spot on and you were always left with plenty of supplies and fresh towels even if you didn't want these changed. I would recommend this hotel for its close proximity to Galata Bridge and Haliç. Staff were generally courteous albeit not over friendly. A great stay was had by all.

Even though I had a problem with booking ( “no refunds” —- I had made an error on my arrival day) I was more than happy to return after a five-day excursion to Cappadocia. General Manager Ali was available in person and by text for any question or concern. I enjoyed the rooftop restaurant. And the staff there accommodated my special requests. (Restaurant service was a bit slow, but I was not in a rush. Vacation! The meals were delicious and always beautifully plated, and presented with style)

Ich hatte kürzlich das "Vergnügen", im Golden City Hotel zu übernachten und muss leider sagen, dass meine Erfahrung alles andere als zufriedenstellend war. Von Anfang an wurden wir von den Mitarbeitern am Empfang äußerst unfreundlich behandelt. Es schien, als ob sie keine Lust hatten uns zu helfen oder auch nur ein Lächeln aufzusetzen. Besonders enttäuschend war, dass man uns nicht einmal gefragt hat, ob wir ein Babybett für unser Kleinkind benötigen. Das Zimmer war sehr eng und das Doppelbett winzig. Des Weiteren waren die Fenster in unserem Zimmer undicht, was dazu führte, dass ständig Lärm und kalte Luft eindringte. In der Duschkabine waren Schimmelflecken vorhanden, was auf eine mangelnde Hygiene hinweist. An 2-3 aufeinanderfolgenden Abenden lief das Wasser im Badezimmer (sowohl im Waschbecken als auch in der Dusche) braun. Wir mussten eine halbe Minute warten bis es wieder klar wurde, um es nutzen zu können. Was mich besonders gestört hat, war die Tatsache, dass das Personal nicht einmal die Höflichkeit besaß, die Gäste zu begrüßen, wenn sie ihnen begegneten. Das einzige Positive, das ich über meinen Aufenthalt im Golden City Hotel sagen kann, sind die Mitarbeiter, die für das Frühstück zuständig waren. Sie waren immer sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. It was a wonderful stay. I can recommend it to every and anybody. The value for money is best in town. I was first thinking of going with one of the big names but now rather have spend the money on food and activities. The team around Ali is very friendly and forthcoming! 5 stars in all aspects.

PERFECT!!!! We were a group of 14 traveling from NYC to Turkey for the very first time. This hotel was just perfect for us, very convenient, clean and most polite and welcoming staff. It’s the perfect location for tourist. The guys at the front desk was exceptionally friendly and gave us some incredible recommendations of places and events, Mevlut and Mahmut deserves an award for their hospitality 😄😄. Love their rooftop dining, great breakfast. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Breakfast basic and coffee machine non-functioning. No facilities whatsoever. Reception area like a funeral parlour. Booked for 5 nights and checked out after the first night. Management not remotely interested in why we were checking out and refused to refund for any of the unused nights. Do NOT stay here. There are plenty of alternatives. Try the Momento Golden Horn hotel instead. Far superior in every respect and similarly priced.

Perfect location to the main attractions. Hotel is next to the Golden Horn River, 5 mins walk to the Galata bridge, to the tram station, Halic metro station and Galata Tower. Make sure to ask for a room in the new building. The smaller old building is kind of outdated. Lots of eating shops along the Golden Horn. So glad that I chose this hotel. Hotel also has a rooftop restaurant with excellent views.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Istanbul Golden City Hotel. They free upgraded our room with Bosphorus sea view on a higher floor because it was my birthday! The breakfast option was marvelous at the rooftop Restaurant. Enjoyed the magnificent city view with morning coffee. Only critic would be we saw someone ordered omelet for breakfast but when we asked for it they said it would be extra charge. The hot breakfast was included in our stay so that was a tad confusing.

We stayed on top floor (9th) which had great view of the little Bosphorus. Short walk to public transport, and central for fish restaurants. The street below seems filled with trades supply shops. So not so classy however safe to walk around Hotel has a decent restaurant on top terrace with great views while dining. Breakfast was great and lunch and dinner is avail with the typical menu of kofte, fish, chicken and salads and beverages Staff was helpful One thing to note, if your a/c is not working, just ring the reception as they have a seperate switch If you travelled with the bus from airport, get off at taksim however the you may find it hard to get a taxi, you need to walk to corner in the direction of hotel. And if you are lucky enough to get a taxi they will charge a fixed rate (not meter), at the time of this note cabbie asked 100tl, approx $4usd. Which is a fair price but if you can convince one to take you

Das Hotel liegt unweit der Galata- Brücke an einer recht stark befahrenen Straße. Wir sind sehr früh morgens angereist und haben unsere Zimmer trotzdem beziehen dürfen, obwohl das offizielle Check in erst um 14:00 Uhr wäre. Sehr freundliches Personal. Die Zimmer und Badezimmer wurden täglich und ordentlich gereinigt. Täglich wurde man von einem angenehmen sauberen Duft im Zimmer begrüßt wenn man nach einem langen Tag ins Zimmer zurückgekehrt ist. Die Rezeption des Hotels ist 24 Stunden besetzt, und hier bekommt man alle notwendigen Infos rund um seinen Aufenthalt. Das Frühstücksangebot ist seeeehr gut und vielfältig. Wir kommen bestimmt auch ein 4. Mal zurück. Danke an das gesamte Team !

Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen. Die Lage direkt an der Straße führt dazu dass es sehr laut im Zimmer ist. Das Frühstück ist qualitativ nicht gut.

Nice view from breakfast place, that’s all. Very old hotel and rooms are not comfortable. Worth spending more and getting something better if you can.

Air conditioning didn't work in our room which was baking hot which made it very difficult to sleep. Raised multiple times with the hotel who kept saying they had fixed it but hadn't. Not enough toiletries in the bathroom, with one miniature shampoo between 2 people. No shower gel. Lifts are tiny and unreliable. View from breakfast is fantastic and that's the only reason you stay here. Neighbourhood is quite dilapidated.
