Comfort Suites Gothenburg South

The pool was closed and has been closed by the state for over a year. My kids were disappointed. The WiFi password did not work. Just an ok stay.

Pet friendly room without carpet is a bonus.

Pool and hottub were closed. Property was unkept. Staff was unfriendly. The breakfast was good though.

This hotel is getting a remodel which is always a good sign. Rooms were beautiful and clean. Our boys were bummed the pool and workout facility were under construction. Breakfast and kindness of the staff were great. Visited the Sod House and Pony Express Museum, interesting highlights of the stop.

The Tv only worked for a short time and then altogether not available. Couldn’t watch the nba finals. Disappointing. Water in workout room empty, tv didn’t work in workout room. Hand sanitizer stations were empty. However, Kenny at desk very helpful and nice.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Fitness room good but not clean. WiFi weak.

On line when booking pictures showed hot tub they need update website once arrived was told hot tub filled in and now a fireplace. Electrical outlet by bed didn’t work and 2 lights by bed not working

This is the my second stay in a comfort suites hotel and the AC has left the room feeling wet. I am writing this review from a different hotel where the weather is hotter and my room is cool and dry. The gym was just a few pieces of cardio equipment. The person on the third floor above my room may have been practicing judo or the soundproofing is just that bad. Breakfast was nice. If I had to do it again, I would have driven to my next stop and stayed there.

check in was easy and the staff was friendly. Would be nice to maybe see the pool open sometime.

Larger vehicle parking is off site in an unsecure dark parking lot. There is urine around the base of the toilet. There was what appeared to be snot on the shower curtain. The AC unit was so loud I thought it was going to fall out of the wall. The hallway had a very unpleasant smell in it. The pictures of the gym online are not of the equipment that is actually in the hotel. Overall I would highly suggest staying somewhere else.

The room was dirty. We wore water shoes in the tub because it hadn't been cleaned. There were leftovers in the refrigerator from the previous guests. The vehicle noise from the highway was very loud. We would not stay there again.

Great price. Large, clean rooms and a good breakfast.

Receptionist was very friendly. Room was very clean and spacious! Breakfast was good.

Clean and good place to stay

Unexpected great hotel near the highway - clean, very comfortable beds and large rooms. Enjoyed a good nights sleep and will book again on our way back to Iowa again tonight!

Room 110. Smelled of must and mold, very humid in the room. Dead bolt didn't work. Bathroom door would not shut. Caulk was poorly done and moldy around the shower. Bed covers/duvet had holes in one and stains on the other. Gross. The guy at the desk gave us new ones. I don't know if he would have given us a different room. We had already gotten our things into the room and we were exhausted from the day. I told him we'd just stay put, but I was truly disappointed since the last room was so nice. I know you are redoing your rooms as we stayed in an updated room a week and a half ago. It was very nice and worth the money. You should not be charging the same amount for room that is so inferior, and you know it because you are updating. At most, you should charge half of the rate for a similar updated room. Unfortunately, LaQuinta should not even have a room this bad. With an updated room, this is a 4 or 5 rating.

Our booked room’s bedding was not changed. It had hairs on the inside sheets. The tub also had hairs inside it. We asked for a new room and when we got to the new room we checked in the beds right away. The 2nd rooms beds were dirty. Bedding was not changed. Hairs all over both queen beds. The front desk woman Diane said “I only saw 2 hairs”. As if that is acceptable in anyway. She was rude, not helpful, and told us to go elsewhere since we were not happy. We didn’t even stay here. We left at 9:30pm and drove 30 minutes away to another hotel. My 3 year old child was not pleased and I was super disappointed. What a horrible hotel.

Only nice place to stay get better internet and better breakfast

There was a Christian music festival we came to attend so the hotel was full. It was a very busy place with no vacancies. The staff did an amazing job. Breakfast workers worked hard to refill breakfast food and take care of area. Hotel was clean and well stocked. The only thing that was bad was the humidity. There was high humidity in the building. Need a little more AC going. Overall it was a wonderful stay.

Garbage everywhere, wires exposed in room. Lighting too dim.

TV didn't work and no Internet, not a staff issue front desk clerk had no idea as to how to help

Rooms & check in great. In our room the a/c didn’t work well. Internet didn’t work. Tv didn’t work. The internet & tv weren’t big deals but you can’t sleep well with a loud clunky air conditioner that doesn’t cool the room down.

They have refreshed the rooms and they are comfortable. Even though just off the highway you don’t hear any noise.

The things I liked include comfortable bed, very spacious room with high ceilings, very clean and ac in room worked great! The things that were not so great would be the rooms have kind of a musty smell to them and the bathrooms are pretty tight.

Nice hotel but I heard the road traffic on I-80 all night.

The Internet and television did not work during our stay. When we called the front desk we were told the whole area was out of Internet. In the morning the breakfast area had the TV working and yet we were never able to get our TV to turn on and the wifi kept kicking us off after 30 seconds. It seemed like the hotels bandwidth was not enough to support a full hotel.

Shana was very unfriendly and rude during our check in. We witnesssed her treat the walk in customer before us and it was noticeably different with how she spoke with us. When asked about a quiet room, she said that we were placed in a less desirable room because our reservation was booked online.

Service and employees were friendly helpful and attentive.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times and I am never disappointed. Employees are friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the biscuits and gravy for breakfast are great!

I thought that There was supposed to be a person at the desk 24 hours. But, when we came to check out, there was no one around. So, we just left the keys on the front desk. Also, it would have been nice to know the breakfast time before checking in. We had to leave before breakfast even though it was included in the rate.

Great Staff Service

The Staff was really nice. I was attending a concert and forgot a bag chair, but one of the employees had one in her car and let me borrow it. That’s above and beyond!

The night desk attendant acted like I was bothering her just by showing up , but it was otherwise okay.

Fast and easy checkin. The lady at the desk was very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and the sofa and chair were actually comfortable. The bed was so comfortable. We had a great night’s sleep. This will be our go to hotel for our overnight stays on our trips to Denver.

The gentleman working the desk was very rude and assisting us seemed to be an inconvenience. However, the hotel was very nice and clean.

Room layout was nice & the bed was comfortable. Clean & friendly staff. The location is by a highway & there is nothing within walking distance for dining or entertainment. Our view was of the entrance roof. Comfortable enough, but a bit lackluster in location.

Comfort Suites Gothenburg was quiet, clean and overall enjoyable. After riding in the car for 9 hours, it was great to take a hot shower and comfortable bed.

A good stop along I80. Not very many good choices for local food.

Overnight stay en route to elsewhere. Very nice hot breakfast, clean comfortable room. We’ve stayed there often and always return.

So, apparently, the water in Gothenburg had an e coli outbreak, rendering the water in the Comfort Suites undrinkable. The Comfort Suites did little to address the issue. They did not alert us, even though the water event happened some days prior to our arrival. They did not offer a discount, even though breakfast was impacted (and we were told to keep our mouths shut while showering). They offered only a large water dispenser and 6-oz plastic cups for guests to use for brushing teeth, etc. While we understand the water issue was not their fault, they could have done more to mitigate the circumstances or at least offer a discount.

Room was okay. Clean enough and fairly comfortable. The breakfast was awful. All the hot food was cold. I noticed that the heating pots and pans were not even turned on. Not too bright.

Clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast could have a few more options. Check in took awhile since the clerk didn't appear to know what she was doing.

Nice property, clean, friendly staff and very good breakfast with eggs and bacon. Not much to do around the hotel but for one night it was great.

Traveling home from vacation and this hotel was the perfect landing spot. Check-in was a bit slow but it was an issue with the system and not the front desk agent. We settled into the room and fell into a deep sleep right away. Breakfast was a great selection and while some of us showed up at closing, they were very accommodating. Only negative was finding a broken fake nail on the couch in the room when we arrived. Would definitely stay again!!

I made the reservation on Friday then checked in on Monday to learn that the water had been declared contaminated with ecoli since Friday. The desk clerk informed me that it had been tested that morning and was no longer as bad... we could use it for showering just not drinking and they would give us bottled water. No coffee in the morning but the rest of the breakfast food was fine. I went ahead and checked in then got my mother (88 years old) and my 28 year old daughter (college degree in biology) and went upstairs to our room. My daughter began doing a computer search to find out more about the situation. It seemed to be city wide, all local restaurants were a risk. Safely washing hands even seemed to be an issue. The health concerns were more than we could risk so we left the room and went back to the check in desk. Because we had booked through hotel.com and paid ahead, the desk clerk was unable to refund our money. I had also paid extra for insurance since we were driving a long distance and traveling with an elderly person. I was told I need to work things out with my booking agency (hotels.com). I tried using my cellphone but couldn't manage to juggle emails, numbers, codes, etc. We needed to find another place to stay in a neighboring town, we hadn't eaten, so simply left the hotel and moved on. I realize the water issue wasn't the hotel's fault but I don't believe the seriousness of the situations was fully made clear to me.

This was a good, clean hotel. The breakfast is great!

The rooms were recently redone and very nice. Staff very pleasant and explained everything to us. No water usage as the town had an ecoli water problem. The hotel gave us bottled water whenever we needed or requested it.
