Owners were very polite and helpful! Small parking area. Beautiful heated pool out back with access to the beachfront through a private gate. We made great use of their guest laundry facilities. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area

Building is old and in borderline condition but clean large rooms. Good internet. No restaurant at hotel. Limited restaurants in nearby hotels. We did not use the pool or lake front. Parking is limited. Better to stay in downtown area.

The perfect spot for our wee family to stay for a weekend away. Kids loved the heated pools and the room was beautifully clean and had everything we needed. Super service from Wendy at the front desk letting us check in an hour early on a miserable day. Will be back

We are very surprised by the excellent reviews of this hotel. Positives - the rooms were spacious and very clean Negatives - rooms were dated, hotel locked main door at 7.30pm then you had to come through side door, springs had gone in the settee, not a proper shower it was in a bath, admit it was a Jacuzzi bath but there were set times you could use the Jacuzzi bath, We did not find the staff that friendly either, also no welcome bottle of water in the room. We had to drive to the Woolworths which was about 1 1/2 miles away to get water. Also no lift we had to lug our heavy suitcase up the stairs.

The Reef Resort was ideally situated for us - both to explore Taupu and the surrounding area. Our studio room was very well equipped and the heated pool was a great bonus. For us the bathroom was a bit dated but that would be our only negative comment.

During the day, I didn’t find the room very quiet though. There was a lot of sound transfer from the lobby and from the pool area. I was worried at how this would impact the evening - but by night the room was quiet and there was no sound transfer at all. This wasn’t a negative - but just something to be aware of in case your expectations are silence. The pool and spa were both lovely - great after a long day hiking. We appreciated that laundry available for guest use. On a road trip across the north island, this was something we were looking for in a hotel - so we were grateful it was available. Overall, we had a great stay and would have no hesitations in recommending the Reef or staying here again.

The windows didnt shut!! All the rubbers were gone so had freezing cold winds blowing straight in, had the heat pump on but that wasnt warming the place up, was on top level room 12. The pillows were so massive it hurts your neck as they were hard as hell, so ended up using my jumper as a pillow.

The hotel was nice. Room was a good size (we had a one bedroom with sea view). It was a little dated, though. Receptionist was lovely on our check in. The hotel had a swimming pool and hot tub which were fed by geothermal water which made them beautifully hot and very pleasant. Room had cooking facilities which was useful. Hotel is a little bit out of the centre of town, but the uber was only around $10. Parking was on site, again useful. Overall a pleasant stay.

The staff and reception are friendly. Check in is fast. We have 3 adults and 1 kid in my family. They offer us a free upgrade to a much larger and luxury room because they said the room we booked may be too small for 4 people. They are so kind and considerate.

Excellent staff . Room was well stocked and clean. Pool and spa were literally outside door (thermal heated). AC had leak but staff advised of this and were very helpful. We chose to still use room and it was easy to limit to no leak or very small while keeping room cooled.

Wir hattendie groesste Kategorie Zimmer gebucht. Im obersten Stock, sehr schoen und geraeumig. Tolle Aussicht. Kitchenette etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Aber alles sehr sauber. PP Situation etwas eng mit den breiten Kiwi Cars...aber fast ueberall am See so. Town Centre Restaurants etwas zu weit weg um zu Fuss zu gehen. Gut 2.5 km.

Great stay, amazing view and area. Pool was lovely, products smelled good. Bath was nice. Just a little reminder or info on breakfast to be delivered the night prior should of been mention to me on check in as we tend to forget to read the into in the book provided in the rooms. but over all we loved it and deffs be back

El hotel es muy agradable...la piscina es muy muy sabrosa...Rentamos dos habitaciones, la mía perfecta en el segundo nivel, pero mi hermano se quedo en la habitacion No.1 que tiene salida a la piscina... y toda la noche paso con un ruido infernal de algo de la piscina...que no supieron que era... y que no pudieron callar... asi que al dia siguiente totalmente desvelados y cansados... facil acceso a restaurantes y al lago.
