great place for the price. Bed was memory foam and very comfortable. Newly remodeled, refrigerator and microwave and dunk tanks for out scuba gear. Close to food and super marker. TV is too small

I have been staying at the Lone Oak for many years. In recent years there have been some very nice upgrades to all of the rooms. They are clean for the most part. The neighborhood where the property is located isn’t the best but I still feel fairly safe staying there. In the past the rooms were always a good value and that is what attracted me. No so much any more. The new ownership thinks very highly of their property and they think the room rates should be as high as some of the much nicer properties in the Monterey area. Plus they are charging a daily “resort” type fee which is totally inappropriate for this property. They closed the hot tub and exercise room during the pandemic and will probably never reopen it again. They no longer provide daily housekeeping services, which began during the pandemic. They simply are no longer the value proposition they once were.

Great dive hotel, rinse bins for gear and hooks for wet suits.

Clean, conveniently located hotel with spacious rooms. Also really appreciated the scuba gear rinsing and drying station. Staff was very communicative and accommodating about our late check-in as well.

Great little place. We had a separate unit apart from the hotel and a suite. Very quiet and clean. Close to everything you'd want to see. Would highly recommend and stay again. The spa and pool is closed- it says permanently. Don't know anything more. I have service as a 3 neutral as there was no to lean up service during our stay.

I come to Monterey every year for car week and used to stay across the street but the parking there was always an issue. The Lone Oak Lodge was clean and comfortable, they made the room up daily with fresh towels and coffee supplies. The best part is an assigned parking spot right outside of my room; game changer. I've already booked my room there for next year.

Very nice, clean & comfortable stay. Only problem is it’s dog friendly, but there’s no place for your dog to do its business. They need a designated area so your furry friends have a place to potty.

Booked a room with a hot tub and really enjoyed it. I wish that the tub filled faster, though or that the communal sauna & hot tub hasn't been permanently closed. It would have been nice to have the option to soak in a community tub while the one in my room filled. Othereise the room eas great snd the build quality was impressive. I did notice that some of the bathroom fixtures were installed backwards, though

Pros: Staff was friendly. Facilities are a bit worn. Price was reasonable. Major con: One of the beds in the room was NOT cleaned - had what appeared to be a pubic hair, dirt/debris, a stain on the sheet, and a stain on the pillow. Gross.

The room was very clean, modern and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was a highlight (quite new).

We stayed 1night. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the room and linens. We could tell the room had recently been painted with new vanity in bathroom. The mattress was a bit firm but we slept well.

This motel is a great value. The rooms are completely renovated in a very minimalist way. We found it to be almost "institutional" in appearance. No carpet, no drapes, no pictures, no hooks or towel bars, no lamps. However, everything functioned well and was very clean. Beds were comfortable. I would have loved some softer lighting (lamps) AND some hooks in the bathroom. But clearly they are going for a no frills function. Bring ear plugs. Airport is very close.

AC unit was so darn loud we had to turn it off to sleep. The shutters on the window allows a ton of outdoor light to shine into the room at night, if you like a dark room for sleeping then you better bring a sleep mask.

I just wish it was quiet. It’s near an airport and I could hear the neighbors at night. Also no blackout drapes

Plus: Close to Laguna Seca, outlets by the beds and desks have USB A and C ports. Negatives: The beds are apparently made of granite. I did not think a mattress could be so hard. The springs underneath creak with every movement. Simply setting down a shaving kit on the bed made a noise. I have no idea what the point of two huge walk-in closets is when there's nothing in them. Our room was in the back and we could not connect to the WiFi and cell service is terrible. The sink looks nice but is completely useless as a regular bathroom sink making it difficult to shave. I understand charging more when there's an event nearby - the IndyCar race at Laguna Seca. But they increased the rate about three times versus a trip in the middle of August. Will I go back next year? Not a chance.

Decent room for the price. A/C unit sounded like a jet engine—terrible. Too many outside lights on at night plus no blackout option on windows. On the plus side, location is ideal. Walkable to beach and a quick 10 minute drive gets you to most everything.

Didn’t realize 1BRs were all updated and clean, whereas the 2BR suite we stayed at was a blast from 1970s with peeling dirty leather furniture, bad lighting, loud AC, unplugged ceiling fan, and bathroom was peeling apart and old overall. Linens were clean but mattresses were dirty. Tried to call but no one would pick up any calls and bare bones communal access to fire pit and bbq grilles. Decent location. Would have rented 2 separate bedrooms had I known how bad the suite condition was

Overall a good stay. The WiFi was a challenge. The room would have benefitted with additional clothes storage and hanging.

We decided to take a trip as a family of five with kids ages 14 to 6 and loved how nice and modern inside the two rooms were. Also loved the amount of space as we didn’t feel like we’re on top of each other. Checking in and out was an ease, but the beds were extremely uncomfortable. It was like sleeping on the floor. They were so hard. Almost decided to check into another place as we went two days with everyone not being able to sleep well. If the beds were a lot softer and more comfortable, this would’ve been a perfect stay.

The lone Oak Lodge was better than I expected. The room is so clean and updated, very impressive. The area felt safe and was relatively quiet. Very comfortable all around. The service was great once I got there, but I did have a bit of an issue contacting the hotel Before arrival, the phone rang off the hook several times until they finally answered. But very friendly and helpful once I got there. I would definitely stay there again!

The staff at check-in were nice and they let us know our room would be ready in “5 minutes” (even though it was already after check-in time, 3:15). We waited outside of the room as the cleaning staff came in and out and finally it seemed like no one was coming back but they had left the door open… so i asked one of the staff if our room was done and she said yes (but seemed uncertain). There was still a bleach-like smell so we opened all windows and back door as well. Even after it was well ventilated for a couple hours, it seemed like we could still faintly smell the odor the rest of the night. Overall, the room was fine - it appeared that the inside of the room had been remodeled. There was a full fridge but there was a sign with very strict instructions on how the fridge needed to be turned back on, cleaned, etc in order to avoid a $40 charge. AC worked well, beds were okay, ended up not using any appliances so we could avoid extra charges.

Our reservation was cancelled without any notification. Only upon check-in did we learn that we needed to find another hotel room.

We were very grateful that the office staff was able to accommodate our late arrival. they communicated with us and facilitated our check in.

Had so many issues our first night with doors being broken, hinge's falling off, broken tv remote, lights flickering, sunken floor, fridge wouldn't get cold, then got another room for the last 2 nights, had racoons in the ceiling of the master room and bathroom, no draft guard under doors so room had freezing cold air sliding through non stop. Master bedroom heater didn't work, master fridge made noises all night like a whiny dog. Front desk told me 2 days in a row that the manager would call, she didn't. Was told on check out, manager approved 20% each for all 3 nights, said to call hotels.com, have them call the property and hotel would verify the refund of 20% a night for 3 nights. Was promised calls back from Hotels.com, got nothing. got 20% off for the last 2 nights but hotels.com said they couldn't get ahold of the hotel again for the 20% off the first night res and was pretty much told in an email from hotels.com "tough, can't do anything more and to cut your losses" I don't accept that, this hotel doesn't stand by their promises, & hotels.com doesn't either. They will say "we will fix this and make it better, trust me" & they don't. Won't be using hotels.com anymore & will never stay at this property again, which stinks because we're going back to Monterey in December with another family & would've stayed there if they had made this right, but they didn't and Hotels.com let me down as a long time customer. Shame on both of you guys for treating people like this

The staff was friendly and professional. The room was cleaned daily. The bed felt like it was going to collapse in room #5. The hotel is under the flight path. So, would get loud at times with the planes coming in and taking off. This is my 2nd time staying here.

Very nice property. Newly redone room was very clean bright and neat. The bath linen had designs folded in them and even the first pull of the toilet paper roll and the Kleenex had designs folded in them, very talented maid!!! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was big, quiet, clean and the bed was very comfy! There was a micro, mini fridge and even Starbucks coffee. Parking lot was big so easy to maneuver around. Would definitely stay there again!!!

Comfortable and convenient. You do need to do a short drive to Monterey waterfront sites. Rooms well furnished and good price. Some noise from general aviation airport.

The Property is clean inside but outside we saw two mice And it’s in a very sketchy area won’t be back for a female travler

The room was nice a spacious. Plenty of room for 2 people. The checkout process was easy and fast. Location wise, we were never more than 15 minutes away from our main itineraries.

Stayed here with the family for three nights. Spacious and clean room with very comfortable beds. Very close to Safeway and several restaurants. Great location if you would like to explore the Monterrey area with easy access to Highway 1. Would definitely recommend.

Great stay in a great location of Monterey. The room was recently remodeled. The bed was very comfortable, one of the best mattresses I’ve experienced in a hotel/motel. Instant hot water. I never turned the a/c on, but I did bring my own fan for noise and had zero noise complaints during my stay. Front desk was very helpful and friendly. It is dog friendly, but there is no lawn area, so be prepared to walk any dogs on the sidewalk or go to a nearby park.

It was very clean, and in a great area close to everything we needed.
