Hotel is fine. But...., although signs are up about pay to park this was not made clear on check in, i didn't look for them in bad rain and pitch black outside. I was asked as normal for details etc, am i in the car park. OK so please put your car reg on the form. Today i had to stay again as the job ran over. Was today told to pay for parking or get fines. The sign on reception doesn't shout pay to park. It says Hotel Colessio, the small text is parking. Why ask if I'm parked in the car park, take the reg, but fail to mention pay to park. I'm happy to pay if needed. Then after trying to sort out a room rate I'm told you only have 15 mins to pay for parking, which i am now probably over. I will be contesting any fines and will pay for the additional parking of course. But come on. This is a bad deal. One happy customer, made very unhappy by this. And as standard with these parking firms. Can't speak to anyone, just wait for the fine letter. Utter joke and day light robbery. Rant over.

The elevator was only accessed to the 1st floor and then a maze to get to the 2nd floor by stairs to the room. Very inconvenient

A bit odd, having to pay for parking, even though the car park is obviously theirs. Then having to book in at the bar was a bit weird. Room at some point had obviously been quite plush, good carpet and cutains, bathroom had nice fixtures and fittings, but was all a bit tired. Bed and pillows were comfy, room was very warm, and there seemed to be a building site next door that started at 7am. Most importantly, despite having a very nice looking restaurant, and an online menu they do not serve dinner (evening meal) at all, and had the gall to look surprised when I told them there was a menu on line.

Nice hotel in historic building, good location, nice rooms. Elevator was not working, TVs in bar were iptv based and very scetchy(poor internet). Restaurant was large but completely empty.

Property is showing some age in the room flooring. Also no dining service available. Just a marginal breakfast offer. Served somewhat slowly. Reasons given for this was due to staffing issues carried over from covid. Also had to change rooms due to faulty shower. Only had very hot water and extremely hot water. No cold water at shower head.

This is the first time I had stayed at the Colessio and a very nice hotel. With the parked I was shocked that you have to pay extra for parking. For paying already a high price for the hotel that parking would have been part of the price.

One staff member was friendly, the rest were unfriendly. The hotwl was dirty and in disrepair. My room had no dresser or bedside tables. There was no comfortable seat, just an old wornout desk and chair - useless. The was a beautiful tub and i couldn't get hot water. You'd be wise to avoid this place.

This was advertised as a four star hotel The room we were allocated had a threadbare carpet , an old black vinyl based bed and all the vinyl was peeling off and worn . A mismatch of poor quality bathroom fixtures, varnish peeling off the furniture. This was reported to reception but no other rooms were available no manager till the following morning either so I asked if a message could be left and we would see him . Only the duty manager was available no message had been left at all . We moved to another room which had been refurbished which was we should have had initially. We arrived in the restaurant for breakfast the following morning and waited 20 minutes for our order to be tsken . Half an hour later it still hadn’t arrived . This was reported also and we were refunded £13 for the breakfast. After receiving a mail from the hotel asking how our stay was and the general managers mail to contact him with any concerns , I sent a mail and still waiting a reply …..

I never leave reviews, but in this case I feel I should. The staff were lovely and the location amazing, however the property is totally run down. The carpets in the room were literally torn up, the furniture tattered, the pillows and beds uncomfortable, and the first room they offered us was so small we couldn’t open both suitcases. They gave us another room slightly bigger. The bathrooms were large and completely remodeled but the room itself was embarrassing. We were glad to be be there only one night.

Great location near Stirling Castle, Holy Rude, pubs & restaurants. We opted for the breakfast which was good & a time saver. Only downside is the lighting in the bathroom. There is none at the sink & mirror.

Great location, ideal for visiting both the castle and the town centre. Our room had a brand new refurbished bathroom that was fantastic, with a huge bath tub and separate shower but the room itself definitely needed new furniture as all the surfaces were worn and it could all do with a lick of paint. The bed was VERY hard (but I prefer them this way) and we had one window without curtains so it got bright early. We had a 'corner' room and it was very quiet throughout the night. With a few small touches this could be the most excellent hotel though!

Friendly well positioned hotel for the town centre and castle. Parking £15 a day. If there for business purposes, the Wi-Fi in the room was poor and the single ceiling light was an interesting concept as needed every lamp on and the bathroom to create enough light. The windows could do with either obscuring or net curtains as our view from our deluxe room was around 40 bedroom windows of the neighbouring hotel and a regularly used fire escape exit. The bed had a poor quality mattress past it’s best also.

The staff were wonderfully accommodating but the temperature of the room was unbearably hot. There were other guests who used a chair to prop their door open to the hallway to get some cool air. We left our room windows and curtains open all night to get cool air, even though the light outside kept us awake and woke up early. It was very uncomfortable. The hallways and lobby were a nice temperature but the room was terrible.

It was advertised as a luxury hotel but our room did not feel luxurious. Barely enough room to walk around the bed. The bathroom was large but was slick and dangerous with nothing to hold on to and a broken shutter on the window. No “extras” that are expected in a luxury hotel.

The staff were all really friendly and helpful and the bed was comfy but the room was tiny. If we had realised how small the room was we would have either booked elsewhere or taken the offered upgrade. We were given a shower as requested. It was very conveniently located for the castle, other ancient buildings and for the town centre. Expect really steep hills in order to get anywhere.

Hotel was nice although we had a fair walk to get to our room, having to navigate a lift and two flights of stairs including 4 fire doors. A bit of a drama with 4 cases and no offer of help. Room was comfortable but things not working in the room i.e. no plug in the sink, light bulbs out, no conditioner etc. Reception checkin was terrible, with very limited assistance. Breakfast service the next day was like a scene from Faulty Towers! Staff shouting at each other in the kitchen which was clearly heard in the dinning room. Food was OK but service was bad. It took us 50 minutes to get serviced our basic cooked breakfast. Management did rectify by reimbursing us our breakfast, however it did make us late to start our day. Hotel handy to Stirling Castle, the only thing going for the Hotel I’m afraid.

Very modern and nicely equipped. The poor staff at breakfast were horribly understaffed, at least today. One person on shift to do everything! Not their fault but them having to bus, host, take orders, deliver orders and replenish buffet food compromises service.

Check in was very slow with a queue from main door to reception desk and only one recepionist dealing with everyone. A man who seemed to be a manager in area who made no effort to help or apologise for situation. Dinner menu was very disappointing and completely uninspiring which meant we ate out! Breakfast was equally disapointing and the breakfast waitress was uninterested, unattentive and unverging on rude. Overall, for the charge of £171 B&B we were glad our stay was for one night only and we would not stay again.

The hotel is very nice, but the reception staff could be more friendly and accommodating. They gave me a family room in the 3rd floor and they expected me to climb the stairs with 2 big luggage and a push chair. That was not convenient at all. On top of that they didn't offer any solution to bring up my luggage. At the end I store them at the reception because I couldn't bring them up myself. So they are poor decision makers, they just know how to address the normal or easy requests. I mean how come they have a family room at the top of the hotel with any accessibility. That's nonsense.

Nice enough hotel, located perfectly for a stay in Stirling. Unfortunately, they are clearly short of staff and we gave up on getting breakfast. We gave up, got a refund on breakfast and went to the Meadowpark instead, where we were served a fantastic breakfast.

A super friendly welcome and helpful people. The receptionist even carried my bag upstairs because I had hurt my back. My room was spotless and inviting. Even though the hotel is located on a main road, the traffic falls quiet in the early evening. I ate in the hotel both nights, and the food was very good. After reading some of the reviews I was a little concerned about our stay. First impression, lovely hotel, our room was clean, spacious, a little tired and in need of a upgrade but. My family including my dog slept well. Quite rooms. Staff on the first morning breakfast was accommodating and very helpful. Was informed we couldn't sit in the main eating area but he moved all that was needed. The next morning different story. The man was unhelpful and clearly didn't want to be there for the day. All in all a good stay just last staff member ruined it a bit

Staffing seems to be limited, with the front desk now closed down and check in now taking place at the cocktail bar where others are drinking. The restaurant was also closed while we stayed due to renovations, however this was not stated when booking. This meant no dinner and only continental breakfast was available despite still selling a full breakfast online. It’s a shame as the building is very beautiful, but the soft services need a lot of attention.

Very cool property. My room was an interesting configuration, but I'm sure it has to do with the building's original construct. Check in was easy; I arrived early but reception was willing to keep my bags and bring them up to my room for me. My room only had two bedside lights, no overhead in the entry way; it got a bit dark. Fantastic location--great proximity to a plethora of restaurants and pubs. Even better? Very close to Church of the Holy Rude, The Jail, and Stirling Castle. For the most part, very quiet. While the location near attractions was great, the walk up from the train station was all uphill. I wouldn't publish that the hotel is near the train and bus stations.

This is not a “resort” level hotel but it is a very nice hotel for travelers for a one or two night stay. It is close to town so all of the local restaurants, pubs and coffee shops are easily walkable as is the castle and backside walk. There is parking (extra fee). I recommend.

Great location, ideal for visiting both the castle and the town centre. Our room had a brand new refurbished bathroom that was fantastic, with a huge bath tub and separate shower but the room itself definitely needed new furniture as all the surfaces were worn and it could all do with a lick of paint. The bed was VERY hard (but I prefer them this way) and we had one window without curtains so it got bright early. We had a 'corner' room and it was very quiet throughout the night. Lovely property in a great location. Close to the train station and attractions (old jail, castle and shops/ restaurants). Breakfast was very good. Staff were fantastic however the hotel does not do early check in which was a little disappointing given our 1st two hotels would if rooms were available (they were happy to store our bags though which was nice). Overall though, very good experience and would recommend.

Hotel & Staff absolutely amazing. Great bar with a great choice. Sadly only thing to let the hotel down was the breakfast, Scottish Breakfast simply awful (many others agreed) the amount of breakfasts left uneaten was a lot ! Fruit & Pastries were not replaced efficiently again leading to long delays and many people asking staff to replenish. I’m sure the breakfast issues can be sorted (although after speaking to regular guests it appears to have been an issue for a long time). We will certainly stay again as like I said staff and the hotel were great just the poor breakfast service and quality.

I recently stayed at this hotel and I have to say, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, I could tell that the place was very poorly managed. The bar was barely stocked when I tried to order a drink, I was told that they had “run out” of almost everything I wanted. It was incredibly frustrating. To make matters worse, the restaurant was closed for dinner, leaving guests with no proper dining options. Yet, they still charge you for a full cooked breakfast, but all they served was a poor continental spread that didn’t even come close to what I was expecting. On top of all that, the rooms were outdated and dirty. The cleanliness was far from acceptable, and the furniture looked like it hadn’t been updated in years. Overall, it was a disappointing stay, and I will definitely not be coming back.

Continental breakfast options were limited and only 2 options were included in the breakfast. A further charge of £5 is added for anything thats not a scottish breakfast or filled roll. This hotel was within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. The check in was easy, parking was available. Walk up the hill to the Stirling castle. The reception desk was also at the bar. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good.

We loved this hotel! We splurged for an upgraded room and it had a wonderful view of the street out front. The room was large and beautiful, and the hotel was in a very cool, historic building just a short walk from the tourist sights (the Old Jail and the Stirling Castle). Also, unlike many hotels in the heart of touristy areas, the parking was easy (but not inexpensive). I highly recommend the Colessio hotel! However, I can't recommend their breakfast - the continental breakfast buffet selections were underwhelming and even the hot breakfast wasn't great. I suggest grabbing a coffee and pastry from one of the nearby shops instead.

Room lovely with large blackout curtains on all windows apart from one above bed which had a Venetian blind, there was a street light on outside all night so room never dark, struggled sleeping, shame just needed to put a Roman blind up matching the curtains. Breakfast, tea and coffee in thermal jugs and was warm at best. Pastries like cheap supermarket ones. Porridge was made from water not milk which was horrible but that’s down to my personal preference. Shame hotel looks great, was disappointed. Staff good

A disappointing stay overall although the hotel is in a good location, the reception and bar area is very nice, bed very comfortable and the breakfast was very good. We come to Stirling often and usually stay elsewhere. As this was our wedding anniversary I wanted to book something a little more special.
