Right now, Feb 2025, isn't a great time to stay at Boomtown due to renovations. During our stay, they were re-coating the pool deck, which filled the hallways with heavy fumes. Also, it was below 40 degrees outside, but for some reason, we needed to have our AC on. It might have been the heating in the hallway seeping through underneath the doorway. I imagine it'll get better later. Just not great accomodations at the moment.

Pool was closed for renovation. Waited 2 hours for water to be delivered to our room because they forgot to put it in our room. 24/7 restaurant was closed when we went down for breakfast. Very short staffed. Expect to wait for everything! I do not recommend this hotel.

Older and outdated but we knew that going in. The pool was warm which made the kids happy. The staff at the Fun Center was so kind! The kids loved the arcade, mini golf and carousel. Lots to do with kiddos!

Not enough elevator locations. Te amusement center was closed well before posted closing time. The only open restaurant.( Mel’s ) only had food to go. But when we went to pick-up our food it was closed. When I got my food it was horrible. I ordered three eggs only got two and no toast. When I got my third egg and toast, the toast was drenched in butter. I literally wrung out the excess butter. Obviously the cook was upset that I wanted the food that I paid too much for. I ordered cornbeef hash with hash browns and got cubed maybe corn beef with homestyle potatoes.. greasy as the toast. Definitely the worst breakfast and possibly the worst meal I have ever attempted to ingest. I ate maybe half of it and walked away feeling disgusted and regretting every bite. The bathroom floor under the basin was filthy. Coffee maker was missing parts. Best Western was worst anywhere. Staff is not happy and clearly not trying. Signs of poor management AGAIN/STILL!! Never again

No parking for guests. Long walks to get to your car. If you leave somebody will park in the spot you were and you have to drive around looking for another parking spot. Guests need their own area.

We did not get the room we were expecting. It was quite dated. Floor and couch were not clean. Popcorn all under the couch cushions. There was leftover food stuck in the drain of the kitchen sink. Extremely small bathroom, cannot close door while sitting on the toilet. We did not get housekeeping the second day we were there (2 night stay). We left our dirty towels on the floor to be replaced but no one came by. Seems like that could be the least they could do with the price we paid for the room.

There were two boxes of left over food in the room when we checked in, which made the room smell terrible. The alarm clock went off at 5am in the morning and woke up us whole family, we were not able to fall back to sleep afterwards.

The casino and hotel have been around forever, I have stayed there off and on. I have not been to the casino for years and was disappointed this time. The overwhelming smell of smoke throughout the entire facility was hard to deal with. I understand casino’s are places where smoking occurs, however there is no reason it is as strong as it was during our stay. The hotel room had an overwhelming smell of smoke also. The trash cans were overflowing upon arrival at 11pm and were still overflowing the following morning when we left at around 9am. The casino is a neat place and has an old western vibe to it, with neat decor. The staff were helpful and courteous during our stay. The hotel was inexpensive but not cheap, other hotels that are cleaner and smoke free were priced the same. The beds were “well used” and low to the ground. Felt like I was sleeping on the floor. The bathroom was dingy, and you could see poor repair work where the shower curtain had been mounted and moved several times. The bath tub/shower was small. The shower head was about as cheap as you could purchase. Might as well have not even had a shower head on it. Very disappointed in my stay but still brought back memories. The place needs some sprucing up to keep up with the times. Come on Boomtown, quit dressing up a pig and fix some things.

The room was big but the fridge was WAY TOO SMALL, and did not work. The phone did not work and the room did have missing bedding for the sleeper sofa BUT..the front desk did fix the bed and phone quickly. The tech guy did try to fix the fridge but it still did not work correctly.

If you’re not into gambling just don’t bother staying here. The bed is hard and lumpy. Pillows are hard and lumpy. You get only 2 sheets as a cover, no blankets are provided in the room. Oh yeah the Air doesn’t work so you will either freeze or be stuffy. It was a general unpleasant experience. Don’t forget the resort fee… an extra charge for stuff I didn’t use.

We stayed at Boomtown for one night before heading over to the Northstar Resort near Lake Tahoe. We were in the older South Tower, and it was fine, but was old, dark and in need of updating. It was just one night, so it was fine. We enjoyed the casino and the Boomtown Steakhouse was a surprisingly excellent dinner. I would come back there just for another dinner. Overall, it was a nice respite on the way to Lake Tahoe, just wish it had been a lighter, brighter room.

Mels diner was the best part. Hotel was meh. South Tower "pool view" was horrible. Rooms were dated and small and the pool is rught next to your window so you can either have shades open so everyine can see ibto your room or closed and the room is a dungeon. Very loud when people are at pool as well. Petes coffee was a dissapointment as it was never stocked with any food and opened later than it was supposed to. Mels diner however always had very good food and the service was pretty good. Hotel is dog friendly though which is a plus.

This was a very fun hotel to stay at! Very convenient and having the casino attached was a plus! The negative was the one elevators to get to the upper floors. Our room was on the opposite end of the hotel and my wife has issues with walking that far. The other nagging issue was the loud AC unit. Glad there was AC as it was over 100° outside! It was just loud. Otherwise, clean, comfortable and nice!

Front desk was on a bathroom break, I waited over 10 minutes with 2 managers walking by twice, I asked if anyone was there to check me in. They were rude and said, he’s on break, you’re going to have to wait. They had no ibuprofen, I was told to wait until the gift shopped opened in the morning. WIFI was TERRIBLE!!! Kept shutting off and making me log in, like 25 times!!!

We enjoyed our overnight at Boomtown as part of a larger road trip over Thanksgiving week. I've passed Boomtown dozens of times in my life driving on interstate 80, and was always curious and intrigued as it has a lot of exterior character and just looks like a fun place from the freeway. We appreciated that the resort was pet-friendly. and dinner at Mel's was a fun experience with the cool retro vibe and 50's nostalgia. The room was spacious and clean.

When we got off of the elevator we realized we had to walk completely around that floor to get to our room because there was a barricade blocking the shortest path to our room. Because of limited mobility we went back to the desk and asked for a different room with close proximity to the elevator. We were given a room in the North Tower it was great- it had been remodeled and was very nice.

Started off on a negative note my room wasn’t ready until 5:00 pm. Had to wake an hour. Secondly, I hurt my back and asked a reception staff member if it was possible to have a chair in my room due to the pain I was in and they weren’t able to accommodate me. Very disappointing.

Lots of construction going on. Our original rooms TV did not work until approximately 11 pm the 2nd night. I had to call front desk several times and got the excuse that the previous shift did not relay the message on the 2nd day I was basically hung up on and transferred to a voice mail. They did finally move us to a suite that was beautiful until I got in the jacuzzi tub which when I turned it on a bunch of black mold came out. Food was decent at Mel’s diner but that was pretty much the only semi affordable option. Casino staff was amazing and friendly. The check in staff were not very customer oriented until we met Matt the 2nd day and he was great!

First time staying in Boomtown. The property is ok. Fun arcade for kids. Mels restaurant staff and food was excellent. Disappointed that for some reason the hotel did not clean our room or take out the garbage during our three night stay. Tried calling guest services and could not get through. This is just a VERY short distance off of I-80. I mean right by the freeway, but not noisy at all once you are inside I parked in the back and the elevator was literally right inside the back doors by Pete's Coffee, which I enjoyed early this morning. I bought some socks at the gift shop which is very nice, and went right across to the steak house and had one of the best dinners ever. I mean, it was top notch in ambiance, decor, food quality, service and prices. I may do this from now on, on my jaunts from Nevada over to my Calif. house. Had a quiet night, and a spotless room with all amenities needed. Of course, there is gambling if you wish, a coffee shop, a buffet, a burger joint, etc. Reasonably priced. Very friendly staff.

This place is great. It’s right off the freeway and super close to Northstar the casino the hotel the parking and the staff were all great.I came in later than I expected, but the hotel clerk named Danny made check in easy. He even had an extra blanket delivered to my room because I get so cold at night. The check out in the morning was quick and easy and the Peets coffee was clutch so I could get caffeinated and on my way for the day.

The discount coupons given at check-in were not redeemable. We checked in at about 5:45 pm and went to dinner at the steakhouse and were told the dinner coupon was only valid from 4 to 5:30 We arrived at the steakhouse at 6:30. I thought that this was a cheap come on. I was directed to parking which was not available. Parked some distance to the hotel. Staff as nice and always greeted us. Hotel and Casino were clean.

Very pleasing large hotel. Fun and relaxed atmosphere. Great dining options on site - Steakhouse really lovely but not open every day, Original Mel's Diner perfect for that all-American experience and great coffee and friendly service at Peet's. My room was very nice, modern and spacious, but others and the lifts were in the process of bring refurbished. The casino was proving popular. I recommend this place warmly.

It was a long long walk from the Hotel Lobby to the rooms. First room we were given keys for had a guest still staying in it. After the long trek back to the Registration Desk we were given a room that was actually available. Their Buffet is no longer open. Steakhouse is closed two days a week. Dining is very limited unless you leave the Hotel and drive ten miles back to Reno. Additionally, they do not allow you to cancel your reservation without forfeiting the cost of your room.

Got snowed in here for a couple days but had a wonderful time. Fun hotel with live music both nights was a great way to pass the time. Never mad about a good arcade and Mel’s had some solid food. Wish there was more options for eating near the area though and that the steak house wasn’t closed both the days we were there.
