The Village House

The hotel had lovely features and warm friendly staff food looked lovely.. didnt have a meal through visiting family so had food elsewhere... did have a few pints in the evening great choices of drinks and the staff were lovely.. stayed in single room which was immaculate a huge beer gardenwith loads of seating. didnt have breakfast as left early to get back to wales... overall the hotel was great and.would definitely use this hotel again.. its a credit to to you and set in a lovely little village with another pub across the road a butchers and shop/post office... plus a small car park but plenty of street parking

it has a small car park shared with its Indian Restaurant neighbour but there was plenty of street parking options close by. Sarah provided a warm welcome on arrival.

Despite serving at the bar and checking guests in, the service and attention to detail was spot on. No trouble parking, check in simple and our room was outstanding. The only downside was that there was no chef so no breakfast but that wouldn’t stop us from going back again.

Perfect. Even had shared lounge for guests although light level was just too low for comfortable reading. Good bar with cask beers good range of menu options including vegan and gf. Would happily book again

Hi unfortunately it was very disappointing, the room was very basic, the bed was very uncomfortable and there was lots of ants crawling up the walls. The manager Sarah and Ruby was both very friendly. It was very busy though and unfortunately our meals took an hour and a half. Sarah did explain there was a power outage it was just very disappointing.

No breakfast available. Bedroom very clean & comfortable. Public areas very tired.

Great location and place. Room was very clean. Bed was a bit soft for our liking but otherwise great. Would have been nice if Breakfast was available.

"No smoking signs" very optimitic. Walked in and gagged from the smell. Tried to rally family to come and rescue us but by the time we checked in they had already travelled too far from the wedding. Place smelt strongly of cigarettes (no smoking signs literally everywhere) so badly it made us feel sick. Spent the night on the worst mattress ever with all the windows that weren't sealed shut wide open to try and dissipate the smell in the middle of a thunder storm. Better wet than the smell of this! Absolutely disgusting. Do not stay here without setting very low expectations

It's a coaching inn in a nice quiet location, convenient for touring the South Downs. The service was fine and the young staff were willing and welcoming. However, we did have some issues. The worst was that our room (no 6) was very cold - we were told that the heating could not be turned on as it was June (admittedly an unseasonably cold spell) and we were also refused a supplementary heater on spurious "health and safety" grounds. The room was advertised as a "suite" but was in fact just a normal en-suite double room. It was clean but the bed was hard and uncomfortable. The windows were in very poor condition and the sills very dirty outside the double glazing, which gives the impression that the room isn't as clean as it actually is. We had dinner one night - the service was very good but the food only OK (we had the pork burger - a "special" but it was quite dry) and next night we went to the pub next door instead and had a much better meal. The full English breakfast was fine, but the "vegetarian" breakfast was just the full English without the bacon and sausages - it really isn't hard to find good veggie sausages these days and if I had been a vegetarian I'd have been annoyed at having to pay the same price. Really a bit disappointing all round.

Upon arrival the staff were very helpful and were also able to provide us with early check in. Staff were happy, welcoming and polite. Our family room was suitable for our needs for a one night stay with tea/coffee making facilities, free bottles of water and nice clean towels that were fresh and without nasty smells. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent value for money, cooked to order and using quality ingredients, plenty of re-fills for tea/coffee etc, and a good array of jams & cereals. There was also a vegan option if preferred. On the whole this was a positive experience, the only real negative was that the Inn is a little tired. This in no way ruined out stay, the staff and facilities made up for this fact. Would stay again if in the area. We did not have time to mooch around much as we were attending a nearby wedding, but the area has some lovely countryside and Findon appears to be a quaint village. The Inn location is quiet without much traffic noise.

The place stinks of cat pee. The corridor/stairs carpets are very old and dirty. The bed felt like a huge person slept in the middle and made it wonky. I’m asthmatic and had a crises whilst there, so definitely damp around the place. The single glazed windows were poorly maintained and meant very little sleep during a storm because of the noise and draught. Broken biscuits left as a ‘treat’ on the top of the tea cup. It’s not worth the price they’re asking for.

The staff was very helpful hand friendly but the room was not to a 2 star standard, the bed was broke and spent the 2 nights on just the mattress.

Was disappointed in that for a very old coaching inn, the room lacked any warmth or character and bed was very uncomfortable. It provided what i needed as a room for the night but i doubt I'd rebook.

When checking in I was asked for my payment card details even though my stay was prepaid. When asked why, reply was “It’s just policy.” I don’t like giving my card details without a good reason. A bit stand-offish. Was left wondering what they might charge me for without my consent. Room was in good condition, although beware if you’re tall because door frames are low and I banged my head several times on them. Shared bathroom and toilet in good condition. Clean enough. Small car park.

The room was clean and the owner was friendly. The room was freezing cold on arrival and only warmed up a little. It then cooled down and was freezing overnight and the heating did not come on again until around 9 a.m. The restaurant for breakfast was also freezing cold. The hotel looks like it is being refurbished so hopefully they will sort this out. Until then only visit in the summer!

Very comfortable room (6) bed was good as was the power shower. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the food in the bar was very good. Findon is a lovely village. Overall was very happy with my stay and wouldn't hesitate in going back

It was in a fine location for our needs. The bedroom / bathroom were small and dated but adequate for our needs. I would stay there again.

The staff were friendly and very hospitable but we stayed there with two children, 6 and 1, and there was live music on until 11pm. The music was so loud and people were in the pub garden being loud and smoking. This meant (on the hottest day of the year) we either had the windows closed and it was too hot and you could still hear people And music, or you and the windows open and it was really loud and smoke came in from people smoking in the garden. Our one year old could not sleep until the pub had closed and everyone had left which was gone 11pm. Our 6 years old went and joined the live music as it was pointless trying to put her to bed. It’s not a place that we would return to with our without children for that reason.

The room was the cosy double. It had a comfy bed nice towels an ensuite and tv and coffee etc. But the ensuite was tiny and the room was tight. It was adequate for a break including a trip to the Crematorium.

I really liked the old coaching Inn, especially the quirky character of an old building. A popular local pub with traditional well appointed rooms. Staff friendly & helpful. Home made oven fired Pizzas were excellent.

Always a warm welcome, great food and selection of beer in this lively village location. The bed could have been a bit better but as only there two nights it was bearable. Well worth a visit.

It was in a fine location for our needs. The bedroom / bathroom were small and dated but adequate for our needs. I would stay there again.

Inexpensive accommodations above a pub with beer garden and restaurant. Room was clean and bed comfortable. The room we had was described as “cosy” so I knew it would be small yet I saw some other rooms being cleaned and they looked very spacious but probably cost more. Our bathroom was tiny as well, but this is all we needed for a 1 night stay. The Village of Findon is small with friendly locals. There is another pub, more intimate, in the village called The Gun Inn, there is a wonderful little market that has prepared foods, baked goods, magazines, beer and wine, etc. For breakfast, we went to Dee Dee’s. Very friendly staff, good coffee (they have an espresso machine) and they serve breakfast and lunch. They also have outdoor seating in the front and back. There aren’t any sidewalks really but most of the roads were not busy (except the main road into the village) so going for a walk and seeing homes, walking up the hills for the views of the farms, was safe and pleasant. It’s a pretty quiet village and a nice way to spend some time experiencing a typical English village day.

Typical old pub accommodation, non- en-suite bathroom was adequate although the shower was challenging- certainly needs attention. No hairdryer in the room. Good supply of towels, soap and tea /coffee. Nowhere in the website information indicates that breakfast only available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Village quite pretty and had cafe for breakfast.

Such a lovely village pub B&B. Staff couldn’t be more helpful especially with sorting taxi for us to GFOS. Our room was very comfortable & clean and the shower was great-do love a shower that is hot & powerful. Plenty towels as well. We had dinner & breakfast there and both were delicious. The chef is very good. Would highly recommend it and we would definitely stay again
