The motel has a central courtyard that is lovely with lots of flowering plants. Rooms are clean and comfortable but slightly dated. Staff, especially Brendan, are very helpful and friendly. Lots of restaurants nearby and easy to walk to. Walgreens is at the end of the block, but a lot of things are locked up so you have to get help to access them. Short walk to the Presidio and Palace of Fine Arts. My only issue is the parking situation. There aren't enough garages for the number of rooms, so it's first come, first served. We noticed several people closing the garage doors when they left for the day, hoping to "save" their spots, so we had to go around opening doors to find parking on three nights. They were also placing locks on the doors occasionally. There's no real parking nearby either. Road noise can be an issue, especially if you get a room facing Lombard street. Rooms have microwaves and mini fridges but beware. Fridge tends to freeze produce, even at the lowest setting.

This is an amazing hidden gem! We LOVED our stay here and anytime we are in the area, we will be headed back. The garages for cars that lock is a huge perk in the city and it is central to all things you would want to go and do. Feels like you are in a little town and the owners are so very kind and friendly!

The garages have lower clearance than they indicate, and can’t accommodate an SUV that is medium to large due to the height constraints. There is a municipal parking garage just a few blocks away on Pierce St that charges $5 for overnight parking (9pm to 9am), however the staff was not aware of this parking garage, told me that there weren’t any parking garages that allowed overnight parking nearby, and instead recommended parking on the street. I would encourage the staff to identify the parking garage and direct guests whose vehicles are too large for their garage units to the Pierce St garage. I didn’t find it until I was leaving the day of checkout, so I ended up driving around for quite a while looking for a street spot, and ended up parking quite a ways away.

Great find! Clean and friendly, the only thing we might recommend upgrading are mattresses. But it is a decently priced budget place that is clean and offers free parking and it’s dog friendly. We will absolutely be back.

Great location 10 mins walk to Palace of Fine Arts or 5 mins drive to Golden Gate Bridge. We felt extremely safe parking our car in their covered garages at night. They have security cameras in the property. The room was comfy and clean.

This hotel was perfect for our 2 day stay. We had two rooms that were clean, comfortable and quiet. The parking was nice as each room has a garage stall. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Check-in was fast and we were even able to check in early. It was also safe and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. We will be staying again.

The room was spotless and the staff were very friendly! The courtyard with the greenery was really beautiful. The style in the room was a bit dated, but it didn’t feel overly worn/used everything was clean and in good shape. FREE PARKING. Very dog friendly (in the kitchen rooms) and only $25 a night pet fee. This feels like a mom and pop place that wants to provide a good budget space but still cares about your experience as a customer!

the rooms are definitely outdated but still nice and clean. the parking is awesome, you get your own garage located below your room. tough to beat in the san fran area. staff was very friendly and helpful.

Marina was super clean and the amount of flowers is great to the senses. Tim is super personable and friendly. For an old hotel it still was quaint but had a modern feel. We stayed inside in the courtyard area which was quite quiet. I am sure the outside street rooms are a tad loud at times because of street traffic. The location is great for food and the Presidio.

Very very small room for two people and the room/carpet had a funky smell. Had to leave the windows open for the whole 2 days. Bathroom was nice. Parking can be tricky if you have a SUV.

This is the second time we have stayed at this property, even though it looks old and not super clean. We liked it due to the location, having parking, and having a kitchen. This time, we should have raised an issue when we noticed some reddish brown streaks at the corners of the bed under the mattress. We were in a hurry that evening so we figured maybe it’s not bugs, so we’ll just be careful and keep all clothes and luggage’s off of the ground since it’s just one night. That was a HUGE mistake on our part. For more than 5 weeks since we’ve been back, all of us have had new bug bites on our bodies, even after washing our beddings multiple times. I have unfortunately had bed bugs (?) from hotels and motels in the past but have been able to get rid of them or not notice them anymore after about a week. So this is definitely the worse infestation that we have contracted from a hotel. I like that hotel location, but can never go back to it again now.

This is the second time we stayed at Marina Motel. We love the garden courtyard, which is an oasis from busy Lombard Street. Unfortunately the room we initially had on this most recent visit had an odd smell, was quite small (no kitchen), and did not seem super clean. After one night with no improvement in the smell, we mentioned it to a staff member. She was amazing! She apologized and gave us a room upgrade that was a HUGE improvement. Now I know which room to ask for, because it also had a lovely view out the kitchen window! Even if my new favorite room is not available, I will make sure to request a room with kitchen since those are altogether more spacious & useful.

The room was very clean, and well maintained. It was only a short walk to many attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. We left our car in the private garage for each room had and we were able to do everything we wanted using the city bus.

The hotel room is large and comfortable. It appeared clean when we came in. After moving our luggage in and getting our car into the secure garage, we were able to tru and settle in. Unfortunately our room had a strong odor of urine!

The room was cozy but not as clean as I would like. There was remnants of an ice cream container in the frig and the ice cream was melted. Also some kind of green ice cubes in the freezer. There was an old french fry by the window, so the place needed to be swept. Crumbs on the kitchen counter. The bathroom was very clean, just looked like they had skipped the rest of the rooms. Pillows could have been softer.

Loved the ambiance of this hotel. Spacious rooms and loved the full kitchen. Only thing I would do different is ask for a courtyard room as the rooms on Lombard are very noisy. Super friendly staff that know the history of the property. Clean and well furnished.

For an older property, this was very well maintained. The location is great and there are several dining options at nearby Chestnut street. Also other amenities around the area. Close to the water and the Presidio as well. Only issue was from the road noise if you stay at one of the rooms on the street. They do tell you about this in the room description and it is real - there is a decent amount of road noise, so if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. Having the kitchen was great.

What a great little motel! Convenient location on Lombard street. A few blocks from a diner and a few other really good restaurants - Indian, Thai, Japanese. It is an older motel, with furnishings and decor that reflect that, but it’s super clean. We had room 43 that had a little kitchen (with bare bones essential cooking and dining utensils) and seating area on the street side, and the bedroom that looked out onto the middle of the motel area that is planted with the most beautiful vines and flowers. The owner said his grandmother planted some of the roses and fuchsias that are almost 100 years old. The flowers everywhere coupled with the beautiful floral murals all over the building make it really charming and unique. We felt like we were in Europe! Each unit has its own garage which is unheard of in the city. We would definitely go back!

I picked this hotel because of its close proximity to the Marina District, Palace of Fine Arts and the Presidio. All within easy walking distance. The room was very comfortable and very quiet (inner courtyard). It may be an older property but the quaintness and overall cozy feel makes for a very relaxing stay.

Just amazing service and a beautiful 30s era room with modern bathroom. It's also got on site parking which is a plus in SF. The only downside was the bed was too soft for me. New mattresses would make this 5 stars!

1. WiFi doesn’t work. 2. Car parking is “first come, first serve” and the woman in the reception told me that she had her own car in one of the parkings but she was gonna move it later, to park in the street. 3. Noisy if you have noisy neighbors (thin walls and noisy stair steps. 4. I tried to have an early check in (1300) only asking for having that bedroom above in the cleaning than others. They didn’t do anything, even more, the young woman in the reception was far from polite and we ended sleeping inside the car for two hours (we had been flying the whole night). 5. Two positive aspects: the man in the reception with long hair, he’s great. The garden and decoration.

We checked in and it was so easy. Brendon checked us in and he was delightful. We had a very nice chat and a great laugh! He showed us all the ins and outs of how to get in and out of our own garage as we were on Lombard St. Yes we did hear traffic but both my husband and I slept very well! The place is Beautiful clean and well kept. We loved the fact we could park our car safely and walk everywhere! I really Love the city and have told all our friend. Great hotel experience!

This place is a hidden gem! The staff is amazing. Alex at the front desk was so friendly and accommodating. You can’t find another place in SF that has your own private garage with parking included in for free. I will always stay at this motel.

Our stay at the Marina Motel was amazing! We were in town for a girls night to see a concert at The Palace of Fine Arts. The location could not have been more perfect. The Motel is like an oasis off of Lombard street. The staff was amazing and the room was spacious and clean.

Our favorite San Francisco motel. Our room had a kitchenette with stove and fridge. Each room comes with free garage parking for one car. Location is great, walking distance to Cow Hollow, restaurants, stores, and bars. We enjoyed staying at the Marina Motel.

This affordable motel was bit farther from Fisherman's Wharf than we hoped. However the convenient access from US Hwy 101 and modest rates made this a deal. And Mel's Diner was only 2 blocks away!

Charming motel in a great area! walking distance to a lot of restaurants, presidio, palace of fine arts and the waterfront and marina. There is easy access to the muni for a quick ride to the emebarcadero. The staff is warm and friendly and very attentive! The grounds are beautiful. We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
