Great hotel on Lake Myvatn. Nice restaurant on site with fancy meals to pizza on the menu. Breakfast buffet (included) was extensive and fresh. Hot tubs were nice. Sauna was not turned on. Provided free robes for hot tub. Free coffee and hot beverages in lobby. I would stay again.

Good facilities including hot tubs, bathrobe n slippers provided too. Breakfast included was substantial n waffles an added bonus 😊

Comfortable stay, tasty breakfast, complimentary coffee all day and a lively hot tub and sauna to top it all off. My mom and I enjoyed this stay along our ring road drive.

So many things to do on site and gas in parking lot. Hot tub, sauna, darts, pool table and restaurant.

This was one of our favorite hotels we stayed at in Iceland. It is fully staffed with very helpful & knowledgeable. There is tons of parking as well. Across the street is a walkable path. At the hotel they have amazing wooden hottubs & sauna available. The food at the restaurant was great as well & breakfast was large, good options & healthy! The room was clean & quiet & had heated flooring & a full bathtub. Would highly recommend this accommodation.

This hotel was excellent!! Very non descript from outside but go inside…WOW! Pool table, darts, cozy area in the bar area. Excellent food. Excellent staff. The decor was just right for the area of Iceland.

We loved the room, restaurant and the hot tub. It was next to a crater hiking opportunity.

Very well maintained property with friendly service staffs. It is cross street from the lake and near a nature trail. The room is extremely clean. The included breakfast is pretty good with many items to choose from. We definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed 7 nights in Iceland in 7 hotels, this was the best out of all of them, also one of the most affordable ones, much more expensive ones could not compare to this. Very nice room, spacious and clean, very well insulated. All the staff, ALL OF THEM, were so very polite and helpful, congrats to whoever is running the place. 10 out of 10

This hotel was perfect for our one night stop along ring road. All the staff were super nice and helpful. Place was clean and breakfast was great.

Hotel is outdated, showing signs of overuse and lack of renovation. I also found blood stains on my bed sheet, not very impressed. The location is nice, right next to Lake Myvatn, but not lakefront. The restaurant is very nice, full buffet breakfast was included, although there were lots of flies hovering and landing on food. This hotel needs better management.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Sel Hotel. Its location is perfect - by the Myavtn lake and right across the street from the information center. The hotel staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room (especially the newer room) is comfortable, clean, and has enough storage space. Bathroom is of adequate size. The included breakfast is good, so are the other meals. We would definitely stay here again.

The customer service was exceptional and our meal at the restaurant was the absolute best that we had in Iceland (& this is saying a lot as we ate at some very nice places). The hotel is older but charming and our room was comfortable and clean. It is located right across the street from the visitor center and next to a great walking trail that goes on for miles. The absolute best part was the staff 7 & the food!!! I hope to come back and will definitely recommend this hotel to family & friends who are planning to visit.

Hotel doesnt look good on outside (ripped signage) but it great on inside. We stayed on 3rd floor with great views of lake. Room super clean and looked new. Bathroom very clean and new. Food was good. Breakfast was buffet style. Staff spoke english and were very friendly.

The room was big and spacious but shower water wasn't drainning well. The whole tile floor of shower to sink area got wet after taking one quick shower. Small store and gas station by the hotel was very convenient. Breakfast was great also.

Room was very large and had 2 sinks and 2 toilets! Also a couch which was a nice touch. Carpet could use updating, but the restaurant was very nice for dinner and a nice included breakfast! Would stay again. Nice location.

A bit disappointed with no refrigerator. The washing basin in the bathroom is too small with water spilled out upon teeth brushing.

The room was too hot and the front desk informed us about no hot water in the whole town due to construction nearby. However, the hot water was actually there with reduced pressure. The blackout curtains were useful. The breakfast buffet was good. The flies are annoying.

Great views of the craters. Food was solid. My only complaint was the water pressure was terrible.

This property is dated, needs renovated! I don’t agree with all the high ratings! It is clean but rooms are noisy can hear every guest coming in and out and talking! Food choices not great and very pricey! Staff are very friendly! Would opt for something a bit more updated if visited area again!

Es gab eine Möglichkeit, einen Anruf zu erhalten, falls Nordlichter zu sehen sind. Beim Check In wurden wir darauf nicht hingewiesen. Am nächsten Tag haben wir beim Check Out die Liste gesehen. In der Nacht zuvor hatten wir eine Chance auf Nordlichter gehabt. Sehr schade!

Staff was exceptional, they genuinely seemed to care that our stay was perfect. Restaurant was also fantastic.

We were snowed in during our stay and the hotel staff was great and kept us updated on when the roads would reopen. The food is excellent also

Receptionists are very friendly. We arrived early before the allowed check in time however, they accommodated our request. Room was very spacious. It was warm however during the course of the night it really got so warm. Overall it was great! One thing, the dinner buffet was pricey for the selection of food.just saying!!!

The hotel and the staff were fabulous! They woke us up (as requested) to see the Northern Lights. Dinner in the dining room was the best we had in Iceland.

Night staff was very good, brought my wife a cake when I mentioned it was her birthday. Overall nice experience

Die Unterkunft könnte sicherlich mal modernisiert werden. Der Speisesaal wirkt eher wie in einer Kantine. Das Personal ist aber sehr freundlich ubd zuvorkommend. Toller Service man wird angerufen wenn man das möchte wenn Polarlichter zu sehen sind.

Extremely disappointing and overpriced. We stayed at 10 different hotels with different price range in Iceland this June. This one was THE WORST value for the money paid. Outdated room with an awful uncomfortable shower that would flood the whole bathroom after the shower is used. Breakfast buffet did not taste fresh by 9am. Awful experience I wish we would stay somewhere else. The hotel staff is not helpful at all - the main objective clearly is the to make money of the tourists by any means.

The location for this is amazing: we enjoyed our walk by the lake and the views. My travel companion enjoyed the on property brewed beer and we also really enjoyed the pizza.

Between the quality of the room, restaurant, and its location, this was probably the best hotel I stayed in during my entire trip to Iceland. It's ideally situated on the southern end of Lake Myvtan where you're within 15-20 minutes drive to Hverfell Crater Mountain, Grjotagja Hot Spring Cave (where Jon Snow and Ygritte got it on), Dimmuborgir lava field, etc. The room itself was excellent. Bed was really comfortable, shower water pressure and temperature were great, plenty of electrical outlets (rooms that only have 2 or less is a pet peeve of mine), the bathroom was clean enough I didn't feel the need to wear slippers, and the room size was probably above average compared to the other places I had stayed. Service itself was par the course and I mean that in a good way because all the hotels I stayed at in Iceland had excellent service. Restaurant shines, though. Not a diverse menu but the dishes they do serve are amazing. Included some local specialties that you won't find in other areas of Iceland and everything tastes so fresh - esp the trout. Note: this being near Lake Myvtan, depending on the time of year you visit you will get absolutely swarmed by the midges outside. Best I can compare it to is large gnats or tiny mosquitos (but they don't bite). A credit to the hotel that they seem to be able to keep all of them out but yea when you're in the parking lot you'll have to fight through them a bit. That being said, I would absolutely stay here again.

This was a quiet retreat for the night. Check in was great--rooms clean, dinner excellent Activities to do across the street and close to tourist sites.

This hotel is right outside of Lake Myvatn and it was very convenient to stay overnight and head into the Lake Myvatn and explore.

Great hotel close to day trips we wanted to do and along the ring road we were traveling. 80's style interior. Kept up well. Our room was very large and comfortable but poor view. Others are smaller with better views.

Next to hiking area. Close to other Myvatn sites.

Hôtel d’un certain âge très propre et très tranquille. On nous a fourni une suite de qualité supérieure car à notre arrivée, la chambre n’était pas prête. Le déjeuner était tout simplement fabuleux, le meilleur de notre voyage en Islande. Le personnel gentil, attentif à toutes nos demandes, efficace et souriant. Recommande fortement.

Great places, of all the places that we stayed across in Iceland on our road trip, this was the best. Martinis and Beer and the food was fantastic. They have a very sumptuous all inclusive breakfast. Keep it up!!

Rude waitress and she messed up dinner order. Did not return to restaurant. Other than the waffles the breakfast was poor and couldn't eat.

Breakfast buffet was wonderful. Options of meat, cheese, eggs, yogurt, cereal,waffles, pickled herring, sardines and many bread options. They had gluten and dairy free options as well. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for ice cream next door.
