wow what a lovely place to stay , the clean smell when you walked in was great , parking amazing , great for guests or 2 cars travelling together

Perfect for the overnight corporate stays. Plenty of easy access parking, spacious rooms to spread out and relax in, TV set at a good height (very important).

Very happy with the service and cleanliness of the unit. Would definitely stay again. Liked that there was a Restuarant on site also.

Arrived on good friday and stayed for two nights. Checkin was quick, efficient and friendly. The room was perfectly fine and comfortable. The cleani g staff were amazingly friendly and efficient. There is aslo a cafe, restaurant on site that serves up very nice meals, from breakfast to dinner. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to gisborne

Older style property but room was spacious and had a kitchenette. Dissapointed that the restaurant wasn't available on site as listed in the property amenities.

The room was great, comfortable, clean and spacious. We stay in a King Room with spa. Unfortunately we didn't have time to utilise the spa bath.

Tidy, quiet and good location with lots of parking and food nearby.

Even though the room was basic in it's appearance there was in my opinion a high standard of cleanliness. I would book a room in this motel again. We were comfortable and I must add that when I stay in motel or hotel rooms cleanliness is one of the first things I look for when I arrive. There was no disturbance from other motel guests during the night. We were able to sleep peacefully.

Not bad. But not very clean. Found a makeup eyelash on the hand towel.

Great place to stay, walking distance to both the beach and the city centre. Cleanliness is important to me and my room was spotless. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

The room was airless unless you had the door open, it smelt a bit stale. Had a dish cloth and a teal towel but no sink apart from the small bathroom basin. Hard to wash dishes without any dishwash liquid so I wondered how clean things actually were

Booked online , upon arrival the receptionist was less than impressed that we did this and told us that our room would be the closest to the road , not a drama as we had saved $100 on the walk in price ! The room was tidy and the bed was great , the toilet door was hanging by one slider and was impossible to close and traffic noise was tolerable, just ! Not the worst stay however next time in Gisbourne we will be staying elsewhere

Great location, conveniently close to the centre of Gisborne within walking distance. The room was clean and spacious, equipped with a sufficient kitchenette and supplies. Would definitely stay again!

The Captain Cook motel looks impressive on the outside, but the inside of my (budget) unit was anything but... The room was sparsely furnished . A shelf on the wall was the desk, a little foldaway table, something that looked like a broom cupboard was the wardrobe, and a microwave oven was the only cooking facility. The bed was comfy though. The room was not worth what I paid for it !

No Headboard or bedside tables. Also no radio or alarm clock. Inconvenient not having anywhere to put phone to charge or place coffee in morning.

Spa amazing!! Shower floods a pain!

Good room with a comfortable good sized bed. A few very minor things did not work (like a light over the sink) but we notified the property as we left to ensure they are repaired for the next guest

The room was very small and not really easy to make a cup of tea etc. The noise of trucks was awful. The parking was all over the place!! Staff were lovely though and the room very clean.

Warm and comfortable. Noisey close to truck bypass. Electrical faults … toaster blew a switch every time used. Hot points by bed non functional.

Huge room waliking distance to town

Lovely big room. Nice bathroom and toiletries. Was a really good stay after a long road trip.

Staff were so friendly and helpful. Really appreciated being able to leave my car there for an hour or so after I had checked out. Had a lovely chat with Joedine when I left :-)

The accommodation was warm, clean and comfortable. The terrible aspect of our stay was the rugby team who partied from just after 2pm check in through to sometime after 8pm (when we breathed a sigh of relief) then started up again when they came back from a boozed up night on the town, partying again until at least 4.30am. There was no safe way contact reception as they closed at 8.30pm & there was no published number in the compendium to call for afterhours help. I spoke to the rubgy team manager across the carpark in the morning to say what awful guests they'd been & how they'd ruined our stay. His ridiculous response was that he wished I'd come to talk to him at the time. I said noone in their right mind would complain to a rugby team that were pi$$ed as newts, yelling, screaming, blaring music in their rooms, in the carpark & outside our room. They'd taken over the place. He then said he could only apologise. Too little too late. I said they should think about others before staying anywhere else. I told him my son would be going into a sports event with no sleep because of them, he was knackered as a result so they could stick their apology up their a#$e. On checkout at 8.30am, I was asked how our stay was & I told them what happened. They asked what time the team had returned - to me meant they were aware of their behaviour from 2pm to the time the team went out or until reception closed. If that's the case the hotel staff could and should have put them on notice.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to everyone. The staff are warm and welcoming and the cleaners are fantastic at their job. Whenever we had the door open, we were acknowledged by the staff or other guests walking past. The room was perfect, lots of space, smelt clean, was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Shops were a stones throw away, we didnt need a hire car or taxi to get around. We will most definitely be back, it felt like home! Thank you to the wonderful staff at this motel, we couldn't be happier with our stay.

I really appreciate the staff and service here. Originally I was going to stay from Thu 21st Dec 23 to Sun 24th Dec 23 for a family reunion on the east coast. This has been planned for 3 years but changed due to Covid. Anway dates settled, Marae booked for overseas people, motel etc has been set for past 6 months. 2 days before the start of the reunion a death happened which took precedence on the Marae. Spanner in the works and dates needed to slide by 24 hours. This motel did this without question. Fantastic.

Pleasant staff

I like how it has good parking spaces, out of the way but still close enough to shops. Reception peeps need to make clients feel welcome. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

The staff went out of their way for everything from check in to check out.

Easy to access location and close to what we needed.

Next to the beach. Walk to town. Safe feeling at night. Trains nearby a bit noisy at night.

Stayed for a few nights and no complaints. Great location so City centre and beach were in walking distance. Only minor issue and this is no fault of the property is that it’s on the main highway so trucks rumbling past are notable.
