Super convenient location? Lots of dining and shopping options within walking distance. Places to hike nearby. San Anselmo is a tight knit friendly community, with a small town atmosphere. It's a rustic building in the centre of San Anselmo. There are no restaurant facilities but there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. There's no reception desk and you will find your room key left in an envelope on a table and you have to work things out for yourself. If you want all of the facilities of a larger hotel like a reception desk, bar, gym, restaurant, elevators etc. this is not for you. But there is a decent buffet breakfast provided. The rooms are small and the shower room was tiny but OK for me as I was travelling on my own. It was all clean when I got there but housekeeping didn't visit at all in the 4 nights I stayed. Hotels in Marin are expensive and this place is well priced compared with the others in the area and fine if you just need somewhere to sleep and shower before spending the day exploring.

Anniversary trip and San Anselmo was our home base to get to Point Reyes, Muir Woods, SF & Sausalito/Tiberon. Easy check-in, quiet and comfortable room, nice patio to relax with a bottle of wine. Cute town, very family and dog friendly. Would definitely recommend!

What a cute find! Would definitely stay again. Old Building but clean. They are currently remodeling. It was a bit difficult to find and where to park is not obvious. There also was no staff so a few more instructions on how to get there and where to get keys etc would have been appreciated.

The horel has no reception desk. You find your keys on a table as you enter. Our room had a double bed instead of the king bed that we booked. There was no one to talk to about it. No A/C and it was searing hot. No ice available. No parking right there.

Extremely disappointed! Thought I had booked a cute, well-maintained, converted historical building. Instead, I walked into what can be best described as a nice hostel. The patio and restaurant were closed. There was no reception - our room key was on a table in an envelope with my name on it. The building had an old, musty odor. Our room faced the alley so we were woken up by trash trucks emptying dumpsters. It was smaller than our son’s room. The bathroom was atrocious. Overall, the advertised pictures were seriously deceptive.

San Anselmo is a wonderful place to visit with beautiful surroundings, shops and restaurants. It’s hard to believe huge cities are just over the small mountain. The Inn is the only place to stay right in town. The included breakfast was wonderful with fresh sweet strawberries every morning, and pastries. Check in was a breeze. It was so quiet at night that I thought we were the only guests in the whole place. No trafic noise whatsoever. That being said, my room was a bit shabby. Missing tile in the shower, poor paint job in the bathroom. The bed was OK but the pillows need a total re-do or bring your own. With a little help this place could be outstanding. The manager seems to really care about your experience. We also had the accessible room, I’m not sure why. If booking I would highly recommend the top floor with windows to the main street. I almost asked to see one for a future visit. Yes, I would stay here again, but definitely ask for a different room and hope the bedding is better.

A little worn, could do with being redecorated, bathroom updating, and so on. No daily housekeeping unless guests request it during a limited time in the afternoon when they are likely to be out. Odd. Can’t put anything in the housekeeping tip envelope if there isn’t any! However, very convenient and acceptable in all other respects.

So convenient. Very walkable to dining and activities. San Anselmo had this great street night where they closed the main road and everyone was out eating and listening to music, but when we returned to our room we didn't hear any of it. The furniture is a little sparce and worn out, but everything was clean.

It felt like I was staying in a college dorm but with a bigger bed. No a/c, the accent wall was made up of shiny ply wood, parking across the street, my view outside was a concrete wall. It was terribly warm when I arrived and since there’s no a/c, decided to open the window but since it’s a Friday and there’s a wine bar downstairs, it was loud. Overall a nice stay, our room faced directly toward a concrete wall, which despite a beautiful day and weather led our room to feel dark and cramped. Very loud neighbors other guests as well which is not the fault of the hotel. They were able to make our room ready well in advance of check in which was helpful. Very nicely situated to walk the main stretch of San Aselmo which has lots of coffee/shops/food available.

We had a great time at the San Anselmo Inn. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the location was ideal for what we had to do in the neighborhood. Still adheres to pandemic self-check-in protocol, so I saw not a soul representing the hotel the 2 days I stayed. The window covering in the room did not entirely cover the window. Walls are paper thin. I stayed here a few years before the pandemic and it's the same -- but worse bc there's no breakfast buffet in the downstairs cafe/patio setting and housekeeping is only provided for an extra fee. The location - downtown San Anselmo - however, is excellent.

My friend lives a short walk to the hotel so how I picked this place. My friend and I had dinner at Valenti which was excellent and I had breakfast with another friend at Comfort's which is next door. The town is adorable and the hotel is charming. I loved the cookies by the entrance. Breakfast was lovely on my second day. Fresh fancy fruit!
