The shower/ tub didn't drain well. The bathroom needed some touch ups. The concrete beyond the fenced balcony's paint was peeling and looked unsightly.The drive entrance was a little intimidating.It was very steep and had a sharp turn. I wasn't sure two cars could maneuver through the turn. The bed was wonderfully clean and comfortable. The hotel was very quiet. We slept well.The front desk woman was very nice. The lobby and entry areas were really pleasant..

The view is very nice, the best part of the stay. Would have liked to be able to enjoy that view while having breakfast have they opened up the dining room which was kept closed. Could have used a microwave in the room, and better pillows. Parking is a little bit of an issue because of the uneven ground one has to walk on, but not much can be done about that. Staff was friendly and helpful.

when we checked in the computer did not work. When we checked out the elevator was not working. said it went out at 5 am. no one seemed to be working on it and no assistance with luggage to check out. Very out of date bathroom and furniture. They will need much updating before we stay again.

Though an older facility the rooms were updated and furnished well. Very clean, I would definitely stay again or recommend this place to others. The price was excellent. It is sad the restaurant is closed.

Hillside Inn is an old hotel with a lot of charm. It does not offer a place to work out and it does not have a swimming pool. It does have character and great nighttime views from your private balcony. It is located on the edge of Madison Indiana. From your balcony you have a veiw of Madison Indiana and the Ohio river. It is a great place for adults wanting the feel of a town that is somewhat locked in a long ago time. If you like shopping for antiques there are several very nice antique stores. I highly recommended Hillside Inn and Madison Indiana.

Beautiful view from the balcony of our room. The hotel is old, the room was musty, turning the ac down and opening the sliding door helped some, screen to door was torn across the bottom. Furnishing old but functional. Room and bathroom very clean with plenty of towels. Breakfast ok for free but much better choices in community at coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants. The driveway up into the hotel is steep and hazardous but understandable with the location. This could be a special place due to the view and the history-but refreshing, and updating-just painting the exterior and fixing the screens would be a good start.

I liked the quaintness of the Inn and the staff was great. I was extremely disappointed int the restaurant. Thy were not open for dinner and the breakfast was mediocre at best,

Unfortunately, the bathroom floor was not clean to my standards (dirt accumulation behind door of bath and tiles had embedded dark spots). The tub and shower were good. Towels very clean, sheets nice. One of the quietest elevators I have ever encountered! Easily could hear neighboring room occupants walking and tv. This room had very nice views of the area. The breakfast okay with cereal, waffles, yogurt, breads, juice, scrambled eggs, and coffee, etc. I do wish they had some fruit options. Excellent views from eating area. Staff was very nice!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hillside Inn! From our first day there, the lady at the desk and the maid were delightful and helpful. We found the room VERY clean, with lots of towels. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the turbo bathtub, as well as the fireplace. We will definitely recommend the Hillside Inn to our friends and family.

Breakfast room was clean and comfortable with a good variety of food items. Ice machine closed on middle floor of hotel. Very close to all the attractions in town. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Mattress was very firm, but that seems pretty standard these days and I guess some people like that. I would recommend and will absolutely stay here again if back in town.

Wasn't worth 110$ a night not even close cleanliness leaves something to be desired.... had so many plug in airfreshners in hallway that it was horrid getting to room..... scent was way way way too much.... listings and even brochure makes it seem that every room has jaccuzi or whirlpool tub... they do not....

Very nice hotel on a hillside overlooking Madison. My room had a balcony. I wish I’d had more time to hang out on it. Breakfast was pretty standard but fine. Room was huge and clean. There is a bit of truck noise from the road heading over the bridge. Nicest hotel I’ve stayed at I awhile.

The room was gorgeously put together. The whirlpool tub was clean and functioned properly. The balcony viee was nice, but the door leading out to it was broken off of the slider and bent so it couldn't be put back on. The bed was really nice and comfortable. The bathroom was clean, functioning correctly, and had an abundance of extra helpful supplies.

We paid extra for a balcony room because the whole premise of this hotel is hilltop views. Our “view” was of trees right outside the balcony, we asked to switch rooms but that request wasn’t granted. We felt like we did not get what we paid for or expected.

Room was large and quiet. Nice and clean and great amenities. Enjoyed the jet tub and private balcony. Breakfast was pretty decent too. Hotel could use a little TLC. Loose faucets, cracked floors in spots, and a few other minor things that need fixed. Nothing that would make your experience bad. Only real complaint I have is that there was only one thing of coffee in a room that sleeps 2-3 people.

The hotel itself is very nice - the staff was wonderful, the room was beautiful and the view off the balcony was wonderful. My only complaint, and this is very subjective, is that the beds were way too firm. I couldn’t sleep at all and my kids also complained…but if you like a firm mattress, you’ll love it! The breakfast was very nice - eggs, potatoes, bacon, lots of bread products, juices, coffee, teas, fresh fruit, waffles, etc. It was kept well stocked and we really enjoyed it.

Overall, the stay was good. They are going through some property/room updates and it was nice. However, it was incredibly hot in the building!! We did not have air or a fan in the room and the first night we woke up sweating even though we turned the thermostat all the way down. We resorted to keeping the balcony door open the rest of our stay to cool off the room. The bed and pillows could use an update as well.

Biggest complaint is the noise - while the balcony afforded a view of the valley, it was right at the base of the bridge that crossed the river, and every loud motorcycle, diesel pickup truck and semi seemed to generate as much noise as possible coming into or going out of town.

Patti and Beth were superb with everything! From check-in( I unfortunately had the wrong dates and they went out of their way to change dates to what they were supposed to be and even got me a better rate and room from what I had already reserved). I could have not been more happier with what they did for me and I’m so very appreciative and grateful! The room was very clean with more amenities than I could ever imagined! My sincerest compliments to the staff! I will definitely be going back and will continue to tell my friends about the great experience that I had! Keep up the great work!

Never had balcony room as i was facing the back of the property. Housekeeping decided to just walk right into my room without knocking or announcing. I left a night early because i feel my privacy was invaded. Was told i wouldnt be charged for the night i didnt stay and would get a new receipt emailed to me.. did not. If i have to go back to Madison i will not be staying there

The Hillside Inn is located immediately adjacent to the beautiful ‘old city’ downtown of Madison. Lots of shopping, restaurants, and beautiful architecture are two minutes walk out the front door, or go the other direction to stroll on the riverwalk. The staff is exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and good as well. The hotel itself has good vibes and ambiance. The beds were comfy, and the room was well maintained. We’ll be back!

High up on a hill to see the Ohio River. Main street is filled with shops and eateries. Lots of antique stores. Easy walk from main street to park like riverfront.

The lady at the front desk was very friendly. Check in went smoothly. Though clean, it's obviously an older hotel but you can tell it's had some updates. The free breakfast was good with your standard hotel breakfast options. I loved the balcony and the view of both the town and Ohio river was a nice touch.

Friendly staff on reception. Great location. Lovely views of town from balcony. Dated but spotlessly clean. Bed was far far too small..given size of room a King bed could easily be accomadated. Great linens. Breakfast extended to 10am on a weekend. However upon going for breakfast at 0910 it was almost depleted. No hot items left. Why offer a late breakfast if it is not replenished?? There were no staff in the breakfast room.

Though an older facility the rooms were updated and furnished well. Very clean, I would definitely stay again or recommend this place to others. The price was excellent. It is sad the restaurant is closed.

I liked the quaintness of the Inn and the staff was great. I was extremely disappointed int the restaurant. Thy were not open for dinner and the breakfast was mediocre at best,

The room was lovely, comfortable, clean, and a pretty view of the Ohio River. The breakfast was unsatisfactory! When the eggs and bacon ran out twice, they were not replaced in a timely manner and people had to wait for them to be refilled twice in a 30 minute period even though there were only about a dozen and a half people in the dining room.

The hotel itself is very nice - the staff was wonderful, the room was beautiful and the view off the balcony was wonderful. My only complaint, and this is very subjective, is that the beds were way too firm. I couldn’t sleep at all and my kids also complained…but if you like a firm mattress, you’ll love it! The breakfast was very nice - eggs, potatoes, bacon, lots of bread products, juices, coffee, teas, fresh fruit, waffles, etc. It was kept well stocked and we really enjoyed it.

This is a much older property, but is kept very clean and has updated rooms. It was great having a balcony to enjoy some very nice fall days. Friendly people at reception. Provided a hot breakfast, which was just ok. Would have no problem with staying again.

Very nice hotel on a hillside overlooking Madison. My room had a balcony. I wish I’d had more time to hang out on it. Breakfast was pretty standard but fine. Room was huge and clean. There is a bit of truck noise from the road heading over the bridge. Nicest hotel I’ve stayed at I awhile.
