An old building with high ceilings in a quiet central location, wonderful courtyard area (that can also be used for al fresco breakfasts), excellent breakfast and the wine bar which serves good wines (vouchers were available in lieu of room cleaning). In the summer aircon brought room temperature down to 23-24C.

Not far from center of the city, spacious and beautifully designed rooms, very clean, helpful staff, great breakfast options. And if you are into wine, the hotel is partnering with Austrian winemakers and you can taste variety of them.

In jedem Fall empfehlenswert! Vom Konzept und Stil ein nett gemachtes Innenstadt-Altbau-Hotel. Wir hatten ein geräumiges und angenehm ruhiges Zimmer zum Innenhof. Die Betten sind einwandfrei, Stauraum ist großzügig. Bemerkenswert ist die große Auswahl beim Frühstück – sowohl bei Wurst, Fisch, Käse und Süßem und die liebevolle Darbietung. Das Service-Personal war immer nett und hilfsbereit. Gut ist außerdem die Innenstadtnahe Lage. Alle Kernsehenswürdigkeiten können erlaufen werden, abgesehen dass Straßenbahn und U-Bahn auch in direkter Nähe sind. Wenn man an dem Hotel etwas zum kritisieren suchen möchte, dann evtl. die Entfernung zu einem Tiefgaragenstellplatz (10 Gehminuten) oder so Kleinigkeiten wie nicht komplett schließende Duschtüre. Wie gesagt, aus unser Sicht ist das Hotel absolut empfehlenswert und wir würde jederzeit dort wieder reservieren.

Hotel Rathaus Wein and Design is slightly off the beaten path.. but only slightly.. we love to walk cities and the hotel is in easy walking distance to all the big sights. The hotel itself is lovely. Each room is named for a different winery/wine maker and they have a wine bar on the main floor where you can taste wine from each of their sponsored wineries. The rooms are large, lots of space and the beds are very comfortable. Big windows keep the rooms bright and cheerful. We didn't have breakfast there though we did buy coffee on our last morning there. We found a great spot for breakfast a few blocks from there, called Melange. Great place and full of locals. We found two nearby restaurants for dinner, one was a Croatian restaurant and the other was Vietnamese. Both very good. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time for dinner at the Brasserie Palmenhaus Wien which is around 15-20 minute walk and spectacular. Great food, astonishingly beautiful space. The staff at the hotel were excellent, friendly, helpful in every way. Definitely a great place to stay!

This hotel is in a very nice area, walking distance to most tourist attractions. Many restaurants are within walking distance. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Having free espresso machine in the lobby is very nice! Coffee is excellent. Here are the things that I didn't appreciate: 1. In the listing it stated that on-site parking is available at a daily cost of 25 euros. When we arrived, it turned out that the on-site parking is 1 kilometer away and cost went up to 28 euro per day. Serious inconvenience on a rainy day! 2. Bathroom! The shower is a little room with a glass door. But when you step out of the shower, you just stand on a podium in front of the sink and large mirror, as always, but there is no door! There were 3 of us, and it was very awkward to come out of the shower when my 20 year old son was in the room. No privacy whatsoever! 3. Little things, like - no outlets anywhere close to the bed, so charging our phones was not very convenient; - no place to put our suitcase, not even luggage stand that usually is available in every hotel. We had no choice but to open our suitcases right in the floor. 4. The room was large, but there was not a single chair. There is no place to sit down other than on a bed, which was uncomfortable. Other than that, the hotel is nice, the employees are very nice.

Rathaus Wein & Design is wine themed, so all the rooms are individually decorated, related to a specific wine grower. It is also possible to have a small wine tasting there. Our wine tasting was great, with a friendly and engaging member of staff. All the reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Gloria was absolutely amazing, exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Wir haben das Hotel gebucht, weil es im schöne 8. Bezirk Wiens liegt und somit auch zentral. Die Zimmer sind nicht zu klein und verfügen über ein sehr schönes Bad und bequeme Betten. Auch das Frühstück ist mehr als zufriedenstellend! Gerne wieder!
Wir haben das Hotel gebucht, weil es im schöne 8. Bezirk Wiens liegt und somit auch zentral. Die Zimmer sind nicht zu klein und verfügen über ein sehr schönes Bad und bequeme Betten. Auch das Frühstück ist mehr als zufriedenstellend! Gerne wieder!

The hotel was generally ok. The room I was in looked a little “worn out”. Paint was badly scuffed/chipped in various places and just looked a bit tired. But, staff was fantastic. And, location was great.

Personalen var väldigt trevlig, behjälplig och informativ. I hotellrummet var handfatet placerat vid duschen och inte i samma rum som toaletten. Man behövde gå från toaletten, genom hela rummet, för att tvätta händerna i andra delen av rummet. Sängen var placerad mellan två dörrar, hela vägen upp till taket var väggen och dörrarna täckta av damm, vi sa till personalen på morgonen där på och när vi kom tillbaka till rummet på kvällen hade dom inte gjort rent väggen och dörrarna. Vi gick ner till receptionen igen och personalen bad om ursäkt och bytte upp oss till ett annat rum som var mycket renare. I det nya hotellrummet var badrummet delvis öppet (handfatet och duschen) och toaletten var i ett annat rum. (Det var frostat glas på duschdörren men ett fönster på sidan i duschen som inte var frostat så man kunde se in i duschen.)

If you’re looking for a spacious room for a good nights sleep, this place is great - the bed is comfortable, the room gets dark and is very large by European standards. The location is good for proximity to the center of the city and the sites. The downsides were there is no view from the room, and some of the amenities are lacking— the shower seemed to have some damage and we couldn’t get warm water out of the waterfall shower head, the mini fridge didn’t work which on hot summer days is a disappointment (they seemed to forget to come fix it after we reported the issue) - that said, the AC was top notch, reception was friendly, and they offer a great service in that the hotel is wine themed and if you’re staying 2 nights you can forgo a room cleaning and get a free glass of wine per person, this I thought was a lovely touch. Overall would recommend for the location and quality of sleep but noting some factors that might impact your choice.

Hotel was OK. Good location and good breakfast. Bed was comfortable (ish) but the pillows are typical of Europe…..thin and unforgiving with no support. No plugs either side of the bed which made phone charging a pain. Shower was poor. Difficult to control hot/cold and the main head didn’t work, so resorted to using the handheld at chest height. Overall it was OK but can’t say I’d overly recommend it.

I shared a room with my parents and had their third person sleeping arrangement. It was the worst bed I ever slept in. It was a thin mattress on an unfolded couch, I could feel every crease of the couch digging into me. On the third night my dad insisted he take that bed and he agreed the next morning that it’s the worst bed he’s ever slept in. I was disappointed because this was one of the more upscale places we ever stayed at but the main part of a hotel for us is a good nights rest so we can explore the city. Staff were overall friendly.

The hotel is conveniently located, the staff were very helpful. One of our rooms was very nice, the other less so, but neither offered privacy when showering (completely open area). Also, the hotel failed to notify us that luggage could not be held beyond 3 pm as they were closing for one week. So we wasted the morning trying to store our luggage as there were no available lockers at the train station.

When we arrived, it turned out that the on-site parking is 1 kilometer away and cost went up to 28 euro per day. Serious inconvenience on a rainy day! 2. Bathroom! The shower is a little room with a glass door. But when you step out of the shower, you just stand on a podium in front of the sink and large mirror, as always, but there is no door! There were 3 of us, and it was very awkward to come out of the shower when my 20 year old son was in the room. No privacy whatsoever! 3. Little things, like - no outlets anywhere close to the bed, so charging our phones was not very convenient; - no place to put our suitcase, not even luggage stand that usually is available in every hotel. We had no choice but to open our suitcases right in the floor. 4. The room was large, but there was not a single chair. There is no place to sit down other than on a bed, which was uncomfortable. Other than that, the hotel is nice, the employees are very nice.

Excellent service from the time we checked in until we checked out. Rooms are clean and beds were comfortable. There’s also a few great restaurants just down the street from the hotel away from all the tourists in the old town.

Booked this hotel for a long weekend with my partner, having never been to Vienna before. The hotel is well located, about 15 mins walk to the centre of everything (with a lovely park en route) , and even closer to the parliament buildings and the museums. This has been my go-to overnight in Vienna for a year and I’ve spent thousands of Euros staying there these twelve months. It’s changed. The personal and friendly staff have been central, the local food specialties, especially the wine, make the place special. First they eliminated free tea and coffee if you skip the breakfast—it was a sweet way to make the lobby social and to grab caffeine if you skip the breakfast—and did not replace this with the in-room coffee/tea service that is really standard in even middle-grade hotels. But the rude treatment by check-in staff is what did me in for this hotel. It began as a misunderstanding (probably language-based) on check-in and I confessed my irritation, and after that I just felt terribly uncomfortable there the whole time. I found myself avoiding the room because of the awkward feeling with the new staff. It was a genuine crash of a yearlong love affair with this place. The others in the chain (Salzburg) are still FABULOUS.

Rathaus Wein & Design is wine themed, so all the rooms are individually decorated, related to a specific wine grower. It is also possible to have a small wine tasting there. Our wine tasting was great, with a friendly and engaging member of staff. All the reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Gloria was absolutely amazing, exceptionally helpful and friendly.

We spent 4 nights and had a fabulous time. Cannot fault the hotel. The location was perfect for the trams and the U. We bought a 72hr travel pass which was wonderful value. The hotel is a short walk to the Parliament and museums. There are lots of great cafes and restaurant nearby which are not touristy. We would definitely return.

An old building with high ceilings in a quiet central location, wonderful courtyard area (that can also be used for al fresco breakfasts), excellent breakfast and the wine bar which serves good wines (vouchers were available in lieu of room cleaning). The Rathaus Wein & Design is a modern hotel of middling quality tucked in side street approx 10 minutes walk from the U bahn at the Austrian parliament. The room was clean and spacious but oddly designed. The toilet and shower were in separate rooms which would have been good had there been a hand basin in the toilet. Sadly there was not so it was necessary to open three doors and walk through the bedroom to get from one to the other in order to wash your hands after going to the toilet. Not very hygienic! On the positive side the area around the hotel had numerous restaurants, cafes and pubs offering a range of breakfast or dinner choices suitable for vegetarian and carnivorous tastes. We were not tempted by the €25 euro per person cost of breakfast in the hotel. On the one night we attempted to drink in the hotel bar it was not properly staffed and could only offer wine or beer (no spirits or cocktails).

Had a wonderful stay overall. Staff were exceptional. Great breakfast buffet and wine bar was excellent. Great location with easy access to dining and shopping. Very quiet and restful area. Hotel room overall was very clean. My husband is very allergic to mold and this was unfortunately a bit of an issue. Wasn’t visible but did flare up his allergy - likely that the air didn’t circulate enough. However, it is an older building and that does somewhat come with the territory. Otherwise, great trip and definitely recommend.

The staff at the Hotel was very caring and helpful! The breakfast was amazing and would be hard to beat from a more "up-scale" Hotel. The coffee, oh the coffee is the best ever of anywhere. It was great staying there for two weeks 50 years ago and even better this time with a 6 day stay!!!

The room was simplistic but had everything I needed at it felt spacious. I slept well there and the breakfast was good! Towels could be a little bigger. This is a wonderful boutique hotel in a terrific, convenient neighborhood of Vienna. The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful; we made a last-minute reservation and called in the morning to let them know we’d be arriving early, and they arranged to have our room cleaned and ready for us to check in immediately. We really appreciated it.
