Hotel quiet and clean. At breakfast they always ask for room number, however all people have breakfast included. No plant milk, no herring which I hoped for. Always the same options, no whole fruit. At sauna only one glass with water jug.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel in Longyearbyen! The room was incredibly comfortable and spotless, with breathtaking views of the snowy mountains right outside the window. The heating worked perfectly, keeping the room cozy and warm, which was a huge plus in this Arctic setting. The common areas were inviting and cozy, and the restaurant was undoubtedly the best spot for enjoying the stunning mountain views. The breakfast was delicious, and I highly recommend their food—especially the crab. Whether for lunch or dinner, the crab dishes were the best I’ve had in Longyearbyen! Another highlight was their cocktails—I absolutely loved them! A perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. If you’re visiting Longyearbyen, this hotel is a must-stay!

Funken Lodge made you feel part of their ‘family’ from the word go. They replied to my emails with questions prior to travel, promptly I found the bed a little firm, but they sourced extra padding quickly at my request There are loads of nooks & crannies to sit & relax, read, or enjoy the bar food. Background music was pleasant & relaxing & there was an overall ambiance of class and comfort. Being high up, the Resturant has spectacular views over Longyearbyen with exercising colours of the scenery. The down side is there is a steep hill to the hotel which in the snow was challenging, but the local taxi service became our ‘best friends’ it’s a 20 minute walk into the village & 5 mins by car. Easy shuttle bus to the airport (pay on board) Reception will book excursions for you, but leaving it until you arrive may restrict availability. We booked in advance our ‘bucket list excursions’ through Svalbard Experiences Website & everything went smoothly You need to remove shoes at hotel entrance, but they have a locker room with Merino slippers you can borrow (super cosy when available) or take your own/walk in socks Hotel sauna & village pool were closed due to recent Legionella outbreak in Longyearbyen as a precaution so we couldn’t try those. It was our Ruby anniversary & the hotel left a card & chocolates in our room which was a lovely touch. Staff are multilingual & most people we regretting not staying longer (we booked 9 nights). Most were 3-5 nights Definitely retuning.

Mycket trevligt hotell med stor mysfaktor i lobby/bar med eldstäder och härliga möbler att sitta i. Ligger långt upp i Adventdalen vilket gör att utsikten från lobby och restaurang/frukostmatsal är fantastisk. Knappt 10 minuters promenad och du är i centrum. Bor gärna här igen!

Nice hotel, comfortable bed. Lots of nice public space for hanging out - the music, while not loud could still be a bit lower. Very nice breakfast, with a lovely view from the dining area. A short hike from the center - not too far, but something to be aware of. All the tours will pick you up at the hotel though. Would happily stay here again.

So good. The staff is amazing, the hotel is beautiful and so lovely that its out of the main town, feels special and has a nice view. The bar menu is amazing, the steak sandwich is so so good. Short walk to town.

An amazing place to stay in Longyearbyen! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice. The breakfast is delicious. Don't miss the food and drinks in the Funken Bar, which is excellent!

Super Hotel oben am Dorf mit genialer Aussicht übers ganze Dorf und den Fjord. Sehr gemütliche Lounge mit vielen kleinen sitzecken. Sehr feines Essen. Zimmer prima. Personal alle sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Komme gerne wieder!

A beatutiful room with all you can ask for. Cleaning and service is topp. I have Bern to a coupe of other hotels in Longyearbyen and Funken is the most exclusive and where you feel extra VIP. The interior, the personell, everything has that little extra. Breakfast is top and also the restaurant. And the bar with the very skilled bartenders… Yes, 10 out of 10 from me!

We stayed Funken Lodge last year. We liked amenities in the room and great breakfast. One year on, the room facilities were bit shabbier (USB plug next of bed didn’t work, less amenities such as hand cream, disposable razor, shoe polish, tooth brush, little shaving cream). Breakfast was still great. Wide variety of choices. However, I ordered Champions and leek omelette, came out Champions and onion. Reception ladies were very friendly and helpful. Just a little bit far to reach centre of town. But if I have few hotel choices, I would choose Funken Lodge.

Our stay fantastic, the room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The temperature of the room was too hot and although we turned the thermostat to the lowest setting we still had to keep a window open. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us including organising trips and taxis. Richard and Cristobal especially. Every member we of staff we came into contact with was very friendly. The only drawback about the hotel is the hill leading up to it! Breakfast is good and hearty with a good selection to choose from. We dined in the restaurant one evening and we personally found it a little overrated. Food was good but basic, for instance the king crab was served on a bed of lettuce. We would recommend staying there because of the staff, but probably would stay more centrally next time

Vi hadde det veldig fint. Hyggelig personale i resepsjon, restaurant og renholdere. Vi hadde et flott rom med god plass som vi er veldig fornøyde med. Ikke alltid vi unner oss denne prisklassen, men i år er vårt jubileumsår- så da ble det slik. Nydelige frokoster i flott lokale. Vi spiste middag en gang på restauranten/ og reinsdyrkjøttet var noe av det beste vi har smakt, men det kunne ha vært tilbud om limer ved siden av med ved siden av - selv om det som var med var nydelig. Vi hadde en fantastisk servitør.

Veldig godt opphold. Nydelig frokost, stilig hotell, flott utsikt, høy komfort og svært hyggelige og hjelpsomme folk overalt. God stemning. Eneste forbedringspunkter: - mer oppbevaringsplass på rommet! Longyearbyen er typisk et sted der man har med en del klær og støvler... - nattbord til sengen - den er høy, og det er langt ned til gulvet.

High class hotel with great staff, good breakfast and comfortable bed. Stayed in standard room which is small but very well decorated and in top condition. Mini bar and nice shower. Restaurant is fine dining and great food and service.

Hotel quiet and clean. At breakfast they always ask for room number, however all people have breakfast included. No plant milk, no herring which I hoped for. Always the same options, no whole fruit. At sauna only one glass with water jug.

Our stay fantastic, the room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The temperature of the room was too hot and although we turned the thermostat to the lowest setting we still had to keep a window open. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us including organising trips and taxis. Richard and Cristobal especially. Every member we of staff we came into contact with was very friendly. The only drawback about the hotel is the hill leading up to it! Breakfast is good and hearty with a good selection to choose from. We dined in the restaurant one evening and we personally found it a little overrated. Food was good but basic, for instance the king crab was served on a bed of lettuce. We would recommend staying there because of the staff, but probably would stay more centrally next time

Lovely property, with well decorated spaces. The room was quite large, with a very comfortable bed and a good shower. Picture perfect views from windows. Staff really welcoming, and happy to offer advice for dining options / local insider knowledge. Very good breakfast.

Loved it. Great staff; great location - probably the best hotel one can stay with superb breakfast and beautiful views. My daughter forgot her bag just when we arrived at the airport - I called the hotel and immediately they sent a staff with ny daughters bag and declined compensation. What and excellent service. Thank you and hope to see you sooner

Vi hadde det veldig fint. Hyggelig personale i resepsjon, restaurant og renholdere. Vi hadde et flott rom med god plass som vi er veldig fornøyde med. Ikke alltid vi unner oss denne prisklassen, men i år er vårt jubileumsår- så da ble det slik. Nydelige frokoster i flott lokale. Vi spiste middag en gang på restauranten/ og reinsdyrkjøttet var noe av det beste vi har smakt, men det kunne ha vært tilbud om limer ved siden av med ved siden av - selv om det som var med var nydelig. Vi hadde en fantastisk servitør.

Although bit long walk from centre of Longyearbyen, Funken Lodge has superb view. Welcome drink was good touch to start with. Shoes off at entrance. There are comfy slippers for use in the shoe shelf. Room was very cosy and well equipped (bedside 2 USB charging points, Nespresso coffee machine, coffee pods, teabag, toothbrush, sawing set, disposable razor, shaving form, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, something to read) everything I need. Breakfast was great choices (made to order omelettes, cereals, fruit, yogurt, fish, ham, cheese, smoothie, tea, coffee) and very attentive staffs. I was so impressed. I recommend highly this hotel.

Nice hotel, comfortable bed. Lots of nice public space for hanging out - the music, while not loud could still be a bit lower. Very nice breakfast, with a lovely view from the dining area. A short hike from the center - not too far, but something to be aware of. All the tours will pick you up at the hotel though. Would happily stay here again.

Funken Lodge is one of the nicest places to stay in Longyearbyen with an incredible restaurant. It's a bit further from the central part of town, but still walkable.

We had such an amazing time at Funken, the staff were so helpful. Being a short walk out of Longyearbyen was perfect for us to see the rest of the town and the stunning surroundings. We stayed for 6 days and loved every bit of it! We are already planning on returning February 2026. Only suggestion would be to add variety to the breakfast, buffet was small and didnt change during our stay. But this hasnt stopped us refurning.

The Funken Lodge has to be one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. From the location to the staff in all areas of the hotel you couldn't fault it. The hotel was execptionally clean, the public areas and the rooms alike. There were plenty of quiet areas if you didn't want to sit in the main bar area, not that it was ever rowdy. The food in the resturant was exceptional. As was the breakfast which was included in our stay. The bar food and cocktails were also very good. The view from the resturant down to the town and fjord was beautiful. The walk into town was about a 1km and we did it every day with no problem. It is actually well lit. The sauna was a lovely way to wind down after a days exploring. We would definitely stay here again. From start to finish it was and incredible stay.
