The area is beautiful but be prepared for the lack of amenities the hotel offers; especially the rooms in the separate cabins. No ice, coffee and inability to fix the temperature in your room.

The hotel is unique and provides so many amenities! First we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff at check in! Our room was clean and the lodge has a beautiful common area and view. The zoo, museums and park area is amazing! So many trails to take all within the park. Can’t wait to come back this fall!!

This was our second stay at bear mountain Stone Cottages. This is a park property so is very rustic and unique. Be aware that the fireplace in the pictures is not usable. The room was nice with a comfortable bed. Good view of the lake from the porch. Easy access to the lake trail

The natural setting is beautiful. The room was large. Also having a restaurant, gift shop, and spa on site was nice. My wife and I took advantage of the spa and had a nice massage. The room had some small problems. The tub faucet was not secure, The bathroom also did not have an exhaust fan, and there was a box on the wall in the room that kept making an irritating noise every 20 or 30 minutes, you didn’t really notice it until everything was quiet and you were trying to sleep. But basically it’s a glorified hotel, with all of the problems that come with it, like trying to go to sleep at 11 PM and finding that the person above us just got in and they’re five-year-old child needed to let off steam by running around the room.In short, the facility as a whole was very nice, but the room came with some small problems. I would probably give this place 3 1/2 stars.

Stayed at the Overlook. Which is a nice little walk from the inn. They now have a shuttle service to and from, which we really appreciated. The staff were amazing! The swimming pool was clean and so great! And the peddle boat was a wonderful thing to experience during our stay!! Overall stay was so nice and relaxing. We didnt want to go!! But will be back!

Very nice. Out if the way with beautiful views. One problem: no elevator for older guests, and the website did not mention it. Perhaps put them on the first floor? It was not easy hauling suitcases up and down the long flight of stairs. Another guest also commented on it. If we had known, we could have requested a first floor room

The exterior needs cleaning and some fresh paint. The parking lot had trash on the ground as well as the parking lot at the Inn. It does not look appealing when you drive up The stairs were dirty. Everything smells musty The room was clean

Our room had an amazing view we stayed at the lodge. But there was dog hair on the carpet and the slip cover that the box spring was covered in dog pee. Was New Year’s Eve so couldn’t get another room. Tried to tell the front desk at check out but they could care less. Nice location and nice place with great grounds but room was very dirty.

Great setting in a state park. The Overlook Lodge was a bit shabby. We were able to move to the Inn, which had much better rooms. The sanitizing products they use in the rooms smell awful and are overpowering. I would not stay here again for that reason.

I was upgraded to the Top lodge on the very top, but when I go look out the window there is a huge tree obstructing my view. I literally couldn’t see anything. No lake no mountain just a big tree.

Stayed at the Overlook Lodge in Bear Mountain and it was a really nice experience. The lodge has a cozy, rustic feel with beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. As you would expect given the nature of Overlook Lodge, the room was not up to modern standards. It was tiny and did not have a desk. The bathroom was very small with no place for toiletries. The walls were thin and you could hear people come and go outside. But the scenery and setting are gorgeous. So if you are willing to put up with the inconvenience and not have to spend any extra time in the room it is worth it. The 1915 Restaurant in the main hotel, a very pleasant half mile walk from the Overlook Lodge, was excellent.

The only good thing about staying at the Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain Inn was the location and access to the trails. Other than location, this was a less than satisfactory stay. We stayed here for one night - upon checking in we reached our room and found that the room had not been cleaned since the last hotel guests left (the bed was messy, the bathroom was dirty, the trash can was full). We called the main desk and they were very apologetic and said they'd change our rooms, but we had to drive all the way back to the main Inn to get new keys. They had enough availability on a Saturday night to switch our rooms but claimed they were fully booked on Sunday night and can't offer late check out for anyone. Additionally, the rooms have central air-conditioning so we could not control the temperature for our room, and were freezing the entire time. The hotel lists a pool as an amenity, but fail to mention that it is a public pool on the premise that you have to pay cash to use, even if you are a guest at the inn. Not worth it for the price, will not be staying here again.

Room was very clean, the bed comfortable. Had everything you need. But the huge let down is noise. If people in other rooms are having a conversation at normal volume you can basically hear every word, and also all the doors have a slow-close mechanism(?) that makes a loud noise each time they shut. Basically you are only getting to sleep when the last person quiets down and wake up when the first person gets up. And if someone uses a door the while you are asleep the noise will definitely wake you up. It is a shame because other than that it is a fantastic place to stay.

I was very disappointed with the bathroom facilities. It was extremely small and uncomfortable. Couldnt even open the door to the bathroom. Very uncomfortable and tight. Ive never seen such a small bathroom.

Nice rooms with sufficient amenities except the wi fi was terrible! It was weak and erratic. Finally had to give up. Maybe the main lodge has great wi fi, but the separate cottages up the hill do not.

I would have liked it have given them 5 stars but unfortunately I couldn’t. The place has been a dream of mine for a long time. The desk staff at the main lodge were kind. But the person I encountered at the overlook was extremely rude. I had to call the desk three times to get a response. They kept telling me maintenance would be coming up. But hours later no one came. The next day I went to the desk to discuss our issue and was given a lame excuse that new staff was inexperienced to handle our concerns. Which makes it even sadder. To admit as a manager that you don’t train your staff well is a poor reflection of management. Not the employee. So maybe start there and give your staff the support and training to give guest the experience you falsely try to sell about your hotel.

The staff was extremely polite, professional and dedicated no matter when I'd come to the front desk. Beautiful surroundings. The lodge is not that far even when walking to it, so save yourself the complaining. You're there to walk anyway lol. Will be back for sure.

Lodge door was locked, knocked the door no answer, called main # we were told to drive to inn to check in, staff at inn was puzzled why we had to come to checking in, but did check us in, after we went back to lodge, the staff was there. We had a room by parking lot, I asked staff if we could switch to another room but told rooms all full today, but later on after we took a walk and came back to loadge we saw people just arrived checking in

The hotel itself is excellent, room is clean, looks newer, there is a cold bar with additional sink next to the coffee maker. The only issue is to have a meal and check out the hotel, we have to go back to the Bear mountain Inn.

The worst customer service I have ever had. There was a wedding the floor beneath us and the floor and furniture were vibrating like an earthquake. The lobby and the front parking area reeked of marijuana. No one told me the wedding reception when I checked in. When I complained, the front desk person first questioned my integrity that I wasn’t told, and then made multiple excuses about how it wasn’t her fault. She never once apologized. The manager never apologized nor made any single refund or rebate for the cost. I will never stay here again. The other key things to know: the facility is outdated and needs upkeep, the grounds are unkept around the overlook building, and the grounds have the feel of a poorly maintained public rest stop along a highway.

Overlook is good. The 50$ fee to check in a little early seems ridiculous. The front desk person said your room is ready but you cant check in unless you want to pay $50. So if i check out early does the hotel give me $50… NO. Just seems tacky.

The location on hotel.com is wrong address, we drove around the area and couldn’t find the lobby, we had to ask John to come and find us. He was so nice to guide us back to the lobby. So we could check in. GPS in this area is not very good no cell service

It was a beautiful, peaceful, serene stay. The check-in process was slightly confusing (had to check in at the main property then drive over to the Overlook to our room) but once that was figured out, everything was great.

I don’t think the stay here could have gone any better. Every single staff member we encountered was pleasant and helpful. We shopped the gift shop which was great and ate in the hikers cafe which was above what we expected. The main restaurant was closed on Tuesday but the bar was open and it had a small food menu. We ended up eating lunch and dinner there while having some drinks. The food is really good. I especially recommend the mozzarella sandwich which was amazing. The grounds here are beautiful and we enjoyed walking around exploring. The price to stay here is very reasonable, though it isn’t quite peak season yet so I expect prices will be increasing. A+ stay. Shout out to the two bar staff that absolutely knocked it out of the park last night. So busy in a small space and they nailed service.

Everything was wonderful except the restaurant service. We ordered drinks and a salad. The drinks took a long time to arrive and the salad never did. We finally just asked for the bill. We were there for an hour and a half.

It’s a beautiful scenic national park so not much else can be said, it’s a sight to behold! My only issue was with how the restaurant/deli? worked, The service was slow, the staff was not really friendly, spending more time on their phones, than servicing customers.

Website states to the effect of “If you arrive early, we will try to work with you, just talk with the front desk and we’ll see what we can do.” We arrived a little early. “Working with us” was informing me if I entered the room prior to 3 pm I would be charged $50. What?!!? Dinner at 1915 was good and priced okay, but the so-called 1/2 chicken is really a 1/4 — no drumstick!! C’mon…

The Bear Mountain Inn exceeded expectations in that we simply swooned over the surroundings, waking up to the lake and taking a beautiful stroll from the stone cottages to the main Inn. We were very impressed with the Zoo, carousel, ice skating and the staff were incredibly friendly. The only downsides to this trip were that our bathtub sink was full of hair, which was really off-putting and the food at the restaurant was so salty that we could hardly eat our meals (this is coming from someone who loves her salt). I would stay here again because it is stunning and worth the price but I’d highly encourage a conversation with the cleaners and chefs, as I don’t think I would recommend again if the cleanliness and salty food continue to be an issue
