Resort had a lot of construction going on that is not disclosed on the website. Super noisy and a lot of areas blocked off/bad views. Our room had a gross STRONG musty smell to it and the carpet in the room was damp. We reported this to the front desk. The rooms were not the cleanest and can use some updating. We had issues getting a key fob to let us into the pool area but that was eventually resolved. The pool itself was very nice.

The Rod & Reel Hotel provides a calming resort experience. It's located on the Weather Shore of the Chesapeake Bay in a calming environment that is free of the hustle & bustle of the city. The Rod & Reel Hotel has an atmosphere that is Adult, Senior Citizen and Family friendly.There is adequate parking in the garage with handicap and valet parking. The Rod & Reel Resort provides well prepared food options in the Rod & Reel Restaurant.There are Gaming Rooms with many exciting games, Bingo in a room that I overlooks the Chesapeake Bay, Fishing Boats to practice the use of the rod & reel in the Chesapeake Bay. The atmosphere around the hotel is a pleasant place to walk and a Water Park for the young is nearby for warm Summer Days. During the Summer there is outdoor entertainment in a Concert Series.The Rod & Reel Hotel & Resort provides banquet services for special occasions for large & small groups. I give Rod & Reel Resort and Hotel a Thumbs Up!

The room was horrible, shower had mold and painted over the mold and mildew. The smell of the room was awful, had to purchase candles at the cvs. The water was coming out sideways in the sink, you had to hold the handle down the entire time to flush the toilet. I want my money back!!!

I loved the entrance way! Just beautiful. And the entrance that allowed me to see the beautiful Dock! Loved this. The food was delicious, the staff was efficient and knowledgeable, and kind! However the carpet in my room (207) was very very dirty. I hade to wear my flip flops everytime i walked around. And the pillow cases were yellowed.

I stayed for 5 nights and they never once cleaned my room, took out trash, or brought clean towels. I even requested these services and it never happened. I am very disappointed in the customer service.

The carpets were filthy in our room. I took a shower, walked into the bedroom to dress, qnd then had to go back into the bathroom and rewash my feet before putting on my shoes. And when I washed my feet, the wash rag was filthy black. Also, the room felt damp and clammy all the time. When we went to bed, the sheets actually felt clammy and very uncomfortable until our body heat warmed them up. It definitely needed a new A/C unit and potentially a dehumidifier. Also, there was so much construction, you could hardly find the entrance. I will say the staff was very nice and friendly.

I loved everything about the Rod and Reel Resort and can’t wait to return in the Spring. My room, the lobby area, and overall property was fresh and clean. I loved the outdoor area and promenade, and how convenient the hotel is to the boardwalk and local recreational activities. Each staff member I engaged with was professional and friendly and I pay myself on the back for making such an awesome choice. Thank you Rod and Reel Staff!

The hotel was not as comfortable as described, firstly the beds are double beds, difficult for two adults to sleep in, the beds were not comfortable and something on the of the bed was very sharp. Air conditioner was very noisy.

Reserve king size bed suite with a balcony. Balcony had A huge AC unit outside of my door. I do not have a balcony or view. Room was missing a desk chair. Terrible room assigned even though there were lot of empty rooms available.

I booked a room with a bay view but got a room with a view directly overlooking a large construction site. The construction workers were drilling and throwing metal roofing around well after 9pm. I asked the front desk if they could please move me away from the construction, as I came there for a little peace and solitude. They offered to move me to a room with a view of the forest "free of charge". Well, I booked a room which would allow me to have a glimpse of the water, not trees! They did not offer apologies for the inconvenience or for my peace being disturbed for the evening. They did not say the hotel is at capacity (it did not appear to be busy at all); none of that. My inconvenience was addressed by them offering me an upgrade to a bay view junior suite...for a $50 upcharge! I must not fail to mention that the junior suite was in drastic need of an update, which is hopefully coming post-construction. Unfortunately, there was no manager on duty that night, so the next morning as I checked out, I asked the manager if he was aware of the issue. His response was yes, but you paid for a room with a partial view. He gave me my receipt which included the upcharge, and I went about my day. The opportunity for this hotel to 'service' the customer was an epic fail. They were not rude, but as a customer, I feel as though they could have cared less whether I had a good experience, or if I would ever return.

At check-in, we were given keys to an occupied room. Our second attempted was no better. The second room had dirty towels on the floor and there were no linens on the bed. In order to get a room, we were downgraded to one without a balcony. When we asked for compensation, the front desk offered only to refund our $20 resort fee. This establishment is a poorly managed hotel.

The girl at the front desk Lisa, was so nice and actually gave us an upgrade in our room because it was available and it was my wife's birthday. We had such a great time she even helped us find bars and restaurants in the area that we would it was just a great great experience. Also the girl that worked at night Anita, is so nice and it was good being able to talk to her about the area around. All in all we are so glad that we chose rod and reel resort to come to, and we will definitely be back. I score this resort five stars overall as a destination get away and have a really good time. I personally want to say thank you to all the staff for letting this be a rememberable trip.

We paid $33 for early check- in, which we were told would make our room available between 1-3. We arrived at 2:15 and were told our room was not ready. When we asked about our early check in the person responded that the early check in meant they had until 3:00 to have it ready - which makes ZERO sense. Very unhelpful and unwilling to try and help. We should get our $33 back -

4/5 Stars I had a wonderful stay at this resort—the property is beautiful, the staff were friendly, and the amenities truly made the experience feel like a relaxing getaway. The pool area and dining options were especially enjoyable, and everything was clean and well maintained. That said, there was one inconvenience: my room key card stopped working, and even after being issued multiple replacements (four in total), the issue persisted. Eventually, I had to wait about 10 minutes for maintenance to come and open the door. Thankfully, the staff handled it professionally and quickly resolved the problem once it was escalated. Despite that hiccup, I would still recommend this resort and would definitely consider staying here again!

I had four major issues with this resort. First, due to ongoing renovations, the parking area was distant from the check-in location. Second, there is a non-refundable $20 charge per night which is called a “resort fee” (presumably helping to pay for renovations!). Third, I found the host staff indifferent, cold, and uncaring. No helpful information was offered, one had to ask about every detail. Finally, when my wife became ill on the first night of a two-night reservation, and we requested to cancel our second night, the manager denied us ANY refund, despite the fact that Expedia had approved the refund. I will certainly NOT be going back to Rod ‘N’ Reel!!!

It was a very nice and relaxing stay. It was very hot and humid, but we found plenty of things to keep us cool and occupied. The location has so many breathtaking views and it is easy to get around by walking or car and easy to explore North Beach as well which is a short drive away. I will come back.

The hotel staff were amazing. However we did not have good service at the restaurant. We stopped in there for breakfast after 8am, they still had not unlocked the doors. After waiting at the door, a security guard unlocked them and let us in. We then stood at the counter for over 5 minutes, several employees looked at us and walked by us. We eventually left when it was obvious no one was going to take our order.

We had the pleasure of staying here for 3 nights July 4th weekend. There was an issue with the kitchen at The Dock and we did not get our food because of a hour and a half back up . Mary overheard me talking to the front desk about it and was able to get us some food . She was so pleasant and kind . Other than that I can say the service at CBQ was hit and miss . Mr. George the chef seemed like he could use a little more help in the kitchen and they need someone to clean the table and empty the trash on a regular basis . 1936 food was pricey but delicious. The rooftop pool was amazing and the views from our room were wonderful. Housekeeping did great and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Overall even though they are under construction. I would recommend to others and we will definitely be back .

Great place. Very clean well appointed rooms. We had a bay view which was nice. The bummer was that the Rod n Reel Restaurant was closed. One of the main reasons we went. I guess they are going to tear down and replace it. Dining options were limited in Chesapeake Beach area. The hotel did have two choices. The 1936 restaurant was good. The band they had at the band shell on Friday night was outstanding.

We really enjoyed our short time at Rod and Reel Resort. They were in the middle of construction to add additional rooms so that was a little bit of a bummer. But, happy that they will be able to accommodate more guests. We did have the fire alarm go off at 530am on Sunday… not sure what happened. It we were back inside quickly. Looking forward to going back when construction is complete. Had a very nice time at the outside bar/restaurant.

It was fine. They need to pay attention to details (no soap in the bathroom, no cups for coffee). We tried to eat at the CBQ restaurant but the guy working did not seem happy to have customers. And he did not know how to make drinks. (Ice in a mimosa???). The room was comfortable and had a wonderful view.

Room was nice and a/c cold. But - TV was firmly mounted pointed towards the ceiling! Mold in corners of caulking in bathtub. Charging hotel guest for a picnic table to watch the show was ridiculous. Our first concert three years ago was much better. The online food thing is a joke - waited and hour and a half and never got the food. Had to cancel. Put some grills up and cook some burgers and dogs with a beer tub and make your lives easier!

All the staff in the hotel was great . So friendly and helpful. No continental breakfast and the onsite restaurant breakfast is expensive with smaller portions
