Beautiful historical Inn! Loved the Gardens. We had room 103 which had lovely decor and a door out to the balcony! Everyone was so nice there. They arranged a complimentary shuttle to the play we saw! They also would make us a tray of tea every morning and evening when we requested. For breakfast we had the omelette and eggs Benedict were both delicious! Close to town yet on the edge of a golf course for pretty views. The lake is just a few blocks away! Loved it there!

The Charles is perfectly located for exploring Niagara-on-the-Lake, and by being at the end of the shopping area it avoids having the tourist crowds. All the Staff were wonderful: helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Special call-out to the breakfast staff who were exceptional. The food at Breakfast (omelette- wow) and fine-dining in The Hobnob was also exceptional. The building is charming and beautiful, but looking tired with flaking paint and wobbly paving. Although there are terrace areas, the furniture is old, dusty and tatty- so it does not encourage you to sit down. Hot water for a shower can take up to 5 minutes running to become hot through the old plumbing ( yes I timed it!) As a sign of neglect, one of the trees partly collapsed whilst we were in our bedroom and luckily it fell away from our window and came down blocking the side road - this was quickly cut up and removed to reopen the road, but it could have been tragic it if fell down on our room or on top of cars in the car park or road. I hope the remove the remaining part of the tree as it was hollowed out by beetles. Several other trees also showed major insect damage and die-back… future trouble. Overall, it is highly recommended inspite of the lack of maintenance.

Beautiful property. An old house, but well kept. The Hob Nob restaurant onsite is excellent, with a great little bar to hang out. Convenient easy walk to downtown NoTL and the Shaw Festival Theatre. Will definitely return.

I was in town for the weekend with off site activities planned so only used the facility for sleeping. Will have to go back to try the restaurant. Nice location on the main strip of commercial properties so everything was within walking distance. Bike rentals available on site. The rooms are small and cozy and no elevators which I knew before booking my stay.

The Hotel is quaint and charming, a very comfortable and cozy environment with multiple lovely verandas on which to sit and enjoy the surrounding gardens and interior spots to tuck in and enjoy a beautiful meal or a cocktail. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Our stay at The Charles was a perfect way to enjoy the charm of Niagara on the Lake We were within easy walking distance of the theatre. The staff at the hotel was accomodating. We enjoyed dinner in the lovely dining room and breakfast out on the porch. The Charles Hotel earns our highest praise. Thank you for helping to make our stay a memorable experience.

It has an older, colonial style look with plenty of verandas and balconies. But modern where it counted (heating, A/C, internet etc.). Breakfasts were very good, as was the one hotel dinner I had. Cozy hotel bar as well. I'd definitely go back.

We enjoyed sitting on the porches/patio. Cushions on all seats would enhance the experience. Some repairs and paint would also help. Our room and bathroom were beautiful and very clean.

Property condition is a lot more worn out than the pictures. We had a major leak from the ceiling (light) leaking water into the bed and suitcase and got everything wet. They moved us to another room (no air conditioning) and it was 80 degrees this past weekends. They gave us a discount on the room and free breakfast, but for the money they charge for rooms we were expecting nicer accommodations.

This room is smaller than my closet. The lights are so bright outside the room that even with the blinds closes it’s like full daylight. Walls are paper thin and door is see through. Not worth 300 a night.

The room was extremely small. We kept falling over our own suitcases. The decor was not appealing. The coat rack in the bathroom that served as a towel rack fell over when no one touched it, and it was not overloaded. The lightbulbs in the fixtures did not match: warm white in some; bright white in others. The bushes are overgrown over the walks so it was necessary to go off the walk to get to the parking lot. One of the light fixtures in the parking lot had been hit by a car at some point and was still not repaired. The sidewalks in general were not high-heel friendly.

This was our second stay at The Charles Hotel. This time we stayed at the Newark Room. We loved the heated bathroom floors, cozy layout, window seat and antique furniture. The whole staff was very friendly and efficient. Both check-in and check-out were quick and easy :) Thank you, everyone, for making our stay a memorable experience! Will come back in the future.

Our room was disappointing very small and cold. Shower/ bath combo was dangerous and staircase to second floor was very hard to climb. We were surprised they would rent this room to anyone.

Sooo cold. Heater was not working properly. Had them turn the thermostat up twice - to the 80s...still cold. Floor was like an ice rink. Tried to warm up...no hot water in the morning. Couldn't even have a shower. Frigid water only. I was told the manger would be in touch...4 days later, no word. Should have been refunded...miserable stay.

Der Check-In war sehr freudlich. Die Zimmer sind kleiner, als sie auf den Bildern im Internet erscheinen. Die Bäder sind groß, haben sogar eine gute Dusche. Leider gibt es nicht viel Abstellmöglichkeiten und es fehlen -wie leider oft- Handtuchhaken. Das Restaurant war gut besucht, wir hatten leider keine Reservierung.

We spent the August long weekend at this hotel. This is our forth stay at the Charles Inn in the last two years and will we will definitely come back again. We usually stay in the Premium rooms, which are more expensive than the Deluxe and Petite Rooms. As it goes, you get what you pay for. We love the Premium rooms, especially, the one we stayed in this time. It had "a walk-out balcony with stunning views of the golf course." Thank you to the staff for honouring our request! Overall, the hotel staff is extremely professional, friendly and efficient. No issues with the check-in and check-out, in-room services, etc. The location is very convenient as you can walk along Queen street in the morning when there are no crowds; and when it gets busy, you can rent right at the hotel or hike or play golf. Thank you, everyone, who made our stay a wonderful experience!

An older property in the lovely town of Niagara on the Lake. Air conditioning is controlled centrally and rooms are quite cold. Located at the edge of the main shopping street making for quite a long walk. Dining room is nice and food is quite good, but, way overpriced, as are other restaurants in the area.

We had a delightful stay at The Charles Hotel! This historic property has been updated to have modern amenities while still maintaining its charm. While close to the shopping and entertainment district (two blocks), it was just far enough away to be quiet and calm. Each member of the staff was friendly and welcoming - even the restaurant manager welcomed us while we were waiting for the hotel desk attendant to return. Overall, it was a wonderful visit.

Hotel is positioned well to be relatively quiet from road noise, but close enough to NOTL shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. Position of my room adjacent to creaky stairs, which didn't lend to the best night sleep. View from window was directly into a skip. Shower barely reached warm water.

If you like old quaint, like much of NOTL, you’ll love this 1800’s era converted mansion. Staff is so 5-star helpful and pleasant. Eggs benedict is first rate. Borders onto the oldest golf course in North America, right on the water of L Ontario. Walkable to all main street amenities. Lots to love. Greg, Caledon

The hotel is small, quaint and historic (old) bulding. Room was very small but comfortable and quiet. Washroom was clean and updated. It suited for a one night stay extension of a business trip. Disappointed to learn at check-in that breakfast was not being served while we were at hotel. No offer or alternative provided requiring going to another venue. In truth, would not have booked if we knew of this in advance.
