The hostel is a bit far from the city, but on a hill so one gets good views of the city from the hostel. The hostel was quite lively, and we loved the common play area with the foosball table and various board games. The breakfast spread was amazing and the best we had in our entire Norway trip. The staff was super friendly and helpful. It is great that they provide free parking card. The washrooms were clean and did not feel like common washrooms at all. The common kitchen was super busy but we were able to manage cooking our meals. This was the first time we stayed in a hostel, and I would surely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a great hostel experience.

Stayed in the mixed dorm. Slept well. Common area was nice and clean. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Close walk to Bunnpris for other meals and snacks. Exercise room could use sprucing up.

Nice hostel. Has many useful facilities: for example guest kitchen, washing machines, luggage storage. It's not in the city center but it's okay because there's a bus stop nearby. Great place for people who want to travel on a budget!

I loved my stay in Montana and I can see why it was voted as Norway’s best hostel. The highlight for me was the activities organised by the great team of volunteers. I was lucky to be there on a Sunday so joined the hike to Baunehytten - beautiful scenery, lake swimming and coffee and waffles. In terms of practicalities, the hostel is a 20 min bus trip from the bus station (which is very close to the train station). Take bus 12 and you can buy a ticket (49) on board. It is worth buying the 24 hr bus pass if you are likely to do 3 trips in a 24 hr period. The hostel is very clean and extremely it well equipped. The kitchen has everything you would need and there’s a supermarket just along the road - it is closed on Sundays like others in Norway. The breakfast was generous and varied. There is a great sunset viewing area and I recommend going to the 5.30pm coffee/tea and biscuits with the volunteers. Thank you for a fantastic time!

Amazing views from hostel, there are many thinking trails accessible from the hostel. The workers were very helpful and friendly. There were various hiking and social activities available. Overall a great place to stay alone or with friends/family.

Exceptionally clean room and comfortable beds. Very sufficient and nutritious breakfast. Worth noting that it is a bit far from the city center and on Sundays the bus runs only every 30min, but the breakfast makes up for this along with the proximity to mountain walking trails up the mountain. The hostel seems to double for student accommodation, so this can lead to noisy behaviour from students.

My room was downstairs, Dark and with no view. The daily cleaning was ok, but there were old dirt around handles, panels and walls, so it felt dirty. The mattress was very hard. The receptionist s was not kind and showed very little interest in my questions, but the diningroom staf were kind. The mountains was beautiful, but I guess you can not take advantage of that. I changed my stay to two days at arrival, unfortunately, and I still don’t understand why the second day was way more expensive than the first?

Gode madrasser, køyeseng. Dårlig opplyst at man måtte betale ekstra for sengetøy og håndklær. Det man trenger til frokost, men ikke noe ekstra. Nydelig utsikt. Gammelt, fuktig, vond lukt på rommet. Stedet passer best for fjell-vandrere.

Hostel is ok. Could have curtains around the beds for added privacy and to keep light out when people come in at night and turn on lights. Paying extra for sheets is a new angle … should assume you need sheets and discount price if you don’t. Not close to city centre and No good food options in the area … just a limited option grocery store nearby. Otherwise good kitchen, clean and good breakfast which many hostels don’t offer. It was ok for the price.

Wurden freundlich empfangen. Zugeteiltes Zimmer ist ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen. Latten am Lattenrost waren teilweise nicht mehr befestigt. Schloss an Zimmertüre hatte Spiel. Frühstücksauswahl war ok.

Positivo:amplio parqueo y las camas son cómodas. Negativo : la habitación 313 se escuchaba mucho ruido, los pasos de las personas, inclusive sus conversaciones. Además había un sonido del desagüe que no se detuvo en toda la noche. No tiene elevador en ningún lado. Cobran por las sábanas y toallas.

Due to a staff error I was charged twice for the stay. The first night there was no hot water in the bathroom. I did not meet understanding because of the early morning departure and missing the paid breakfast.😞

le pire cauchemar de notre séjour il y avait une réception le jour de notre arriver et du bruit sur le parking portière rire jusqu' a 1 h du matin pour une auberge de jeunesse la cuisine collective ne possede que 2 casserole pour une vingtaine de personne voulant faire a manger le lendemain un petit déjeuner pas de jus de fruit le café de l eau chaude colorée quelle que plat inconnue et un personnel detestable n autre cauchemard ne s arrete pas la mais je ne pense pas qu il porrouns chancher presque tout leur personnel

Hostel in very beautiful location and staff friendly. The only disappointment was the breakfast where management tried to save money on food quality. Terrible coffee. Use your own bedsheets or pay 70nkr extra.
