Lovely hotel - family room was very spacious and had everything we needed. Bar downstairs was dog friendly too! Breakfast was beautiful with lots of choice. Only thing I wasn’t aware of on booking was a £15 fee for the dog on top of our bill. This wasn’t in the pricing information that I could see on the website.

The Red Lion is a beautiful pub. Everything about our stay was delightful. The staff are exceptionally nice and helpful. The only downside is the car park is very full at lunchtime and evening dinner, a testament to the lovely food they serve I guess, also there is nowhere to sit other than on stools at the bar if you just want a drink. We would have no hesitation staying here again.

A teapot in the room says it all! Attention to detail and staff friendliness made my stay really enjoyable. Food awesome. Reasonable charges. On 480 bus route that goes to Bolton and Bury. Great dog walks: Holcombe hill and Peel tower and the Jumbles. We had a good time! Thank you

Stayed here before, great location and restaurant. Room needs a good dust, you can see it all on the wallpaper. Hairdryer was missing which meant I had to leave with wet hair as we left before the pub opened. Radiator vibrates every time traffic went by, which kept me awake - we’ve never had this happen before but we were in a different room.

Tired room in need of an update. Room not cleaned or serviced during 2 night stay. Waste bins not emptied and milk cartons not replenished- had to ask for milk on second morning. Staff friendly and obliging

Our second stay here. Our first stay was excellent; we had a room at the back. This time our room at the front was quite noisy. Lots of pub restaurant noise, road noise, and the wall between rooms 1 and 2 must be paper thin as we could hear every word of the tv show they watching next door! That said, everything is clean and tidy. The decor is classic country style, bathrooms are perfectly adequate. Staff are welcoming and the breakfast choices are plentiful. We had cokked breakfasts whuch were excellent.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The room was beautiful, lovely little free cookies and hot chocolates sachets, plus a fan which was much appreciated! Very classy place, friendly staff and a very comfortable bed.

Very little to dislike or find fault with, overall very good value. The staff and food were very good. The only slight negatives were doors, the main door into the room was a little fidly to open, especially after a few drinks 😉, and the bathroom door was sticking. Would definitely stay there again when you visit that area.

What a great discovery this was. We wanted to stay in Manchester but due to the exorbitant costs chose the Red Lion instead. What a discovery. Fantastic food, great service and really well kept ale. It’s also a short time into Manchester, and also on the doorstep of the Pennines if you wish to go into the countryside.

A hidden gem! Stopped here for a night on route to Cardiff for the Oasis reunion tour. Totally exceeded our expectations. It was a lovely friendly place, with nicely renovated features, tasty food and great value (Mon-Thurs 3 courses for £20). The breakfast was exceptional also. A great stay and excellent value for money

Lovely, comfortable room. Very disappointed to be told food order had to be in by 6.25pm as kitchen closed at 6.30pm. Couldn’t make it until 7pm so I had to go out and find somewhere else to eat.
