Very conveniently located next to the Arashiyama Hankyu Railway station. We enjoyed the private bath experience but were disappointed the water jets could not be turned on. Experiencing the Japanese meals was part of the experience.

Beautiful property. Rooms a bit dated and small though. 5 private onsens which you dont need to book. Really busy during the day but from midnight could walk into any of them. Public onsen as well. Free ice cream, tea and daily basic ramen between 10:30 - 11:30am. Was a nice break away and near Arashiyama

In Japan, they don't provide room cleaning services every day when a guest is in the hotel, if you need the garbage taken out, or new towels/ sheets, you put a sign on the door. They had 5 private Onsen's that are open 24/7 and are tattoo friendly. My wife and I were able to relax and have a bath together after walking 17k steps in a day. The views around the outside of the hotel and inside are very traditional Japanese and are gorgeous.

Excellent experience in a traditional onsen setting. They have both private and public baths to enjoy. Very beautiful hotel with amazing traditional breakfast. Arashiyama area is beautiful with many sights to take in, all within walking distance. Staff were very helpful with all our questions!

Always beautiful, this time we stayed on the 3rd floor and the door color is different from each floor! Last year we were on the 4th floor. This year I was on the 3rd floor! It’s so cute! The various private onsens to choose from, then public onsen, the sauna was perfect! The cold plunge was super cold but so good after my sauna! The outdoor onsen is in a beautiful garden setting and I love relaxing in there! Just beautiful! 10:30pm late night ramen for hotel guests! Absolutely love it! The garden view is beautiful too! I love this hotel! It’s so cozy! I can’t wait to stay next year! Love love love this hotel! Right across the train station too! So convenient to get to!

Great ryokan, but when I tried out one of the private onsens there were many tiles missing from the wall and there was an unpleasant smell. The public onsen (men’s) was lovely and everything was in good condition, so the quality of the private onsen seemed limited to that one spot. There are 4 other private onsens I did not try out. Staff was helpful and professional. Lots of charm to this place.

The staff were all super friendly. Very clean resort and rooms. Very generous with the food, you can order as much as you want for the kaiseki dinner. Breakfast was also very generous with the portions. Very close proximity to all the attractions, all within walking distances. A lot of free snacks and amenities in the public areas. There are private and pubkic onsens which are easily accessible and very comfortable. Great stay

We really enjoyed our stay! Staff were friendly and facilities were very clean. Only thing that could have made it better is the position of the smoke room. When the doors would open/close, the smell of smoke would easily get inside which made the first half of the lobby smell like smoke. Other than this, we had a great time!

If you’re looking for a convenient and relaxing place to stay, I recommend. The train station is literally right across the street (less than a minute walk) and you can also walk a few minutes to the bus station if you want to easily head to the Arashiyama bamboo forest. Staff were very friendly, the private onsens were great! We tried 4/5 and all were different. Public onsen was also great with a sauna and cold plunge. Rooms could be a bit cleaner, but overall a great ryokan experience! Dinner and breakfast was very traditional though so just be aware. The complimentary kimonos you can rent for free are super cute and fun!

Front desk has one male staff who ignores the non Asian guests as if they are invisible. So rude! Front desk aren’t fluent in English and stare at you blankly. They allow guests to smoke everywhere and there is a cigarette smell everywhere; especially onsens and elevators. Rooms were dated. There was a cockroach in my room. The female staff were very kind and treated us very nicely. I want the property to relay this message to the male staff working there to ask them to respect women and foreigners!

A world-class Ryokon with amazing services and facilities. The Onsen is great, and the restaurant is amazing. Some of the property seemed a little dated, but it is impeccably maintained and spotless. Definitely one of the highlights of our Japan trip!

We really enjoyed our stay here. A 20 minute walk from the JR Rail station. Check in was a little painful but we managed to get through it. The hotel is beautiful and we loved the onsens. If you have tattoos, like I do, they have 5 private ones to enjoy. The rooms are small but cozy. Overall or stay was great.

立地はとても便利でした。 近くの日帰り温泉のチケットももらえたので良かったです。 施設内も明るく清潔でしたが、部屋がカードキーではなかったため、開け閉めの際にガチャガチャ音が鳴り、部屋の中にいても外の音がよく響いていました。

The best hotel we stayed in in Kyoto and Arashiyama is beautiful. The room was amazing with comfortable beds and a patio. Everything was cedar and very clean. And the baths were great.

Awesome stay! The private onsen were great- as were the public ones. I loved the Kimonos and pajamas that were provided!! The futon mattress for the floors were not very padded made for uncomfortable night sleep.

Harmonic, clean and calm hotel with a lot of amenities. The private baths were amazing, the public bath was also very nice. The traditional breakfast was really interesting. Not all things were to our liking. Natto for example was an acquired taste but overall it was really nice to try the genuine Japanese cuisine. The staff was also extremely helpful the day we checked out. My fiancée unfortunately had to go to the ER. The staff helped us to call the local hospitals to see which one was available and they also called for a taxi. We highly recommend this spa hotel.

I recommend staying one night in Arashiyama—two nights felt a bit too long. Most of the staff speak little to no English, so having a Japanese translation device is essential. While the Korean-speaking staff member was kind and helpful, the service and attitude of some other front desk staff were quite disappointing. On the other hand, the restaurant staff provided excellent service. The housekeeping staff were very polite and well-mannered. However, perhaps due to the peak season, the front desk staff seemed more focused on avoiding responsibility than actually resolving issues. Their approach leaned heavily toward collecting payment and securing signatures to prevent problems, rather than providing solutions—something quite unusual to see at a hotel. Also, be careful when booking through Hotels.com—make sure to accurately include the number of children. I had to pay an additional 50% of the reservation cost for one extra child. The public bath is much more satisfying than the private bath.

It's arashiyama so it is a quiet area, if you are planning to eat , eat before 5 . Luckily it's right by the station and a convenience store. If you do not speak Japanese skip, the staff treat you very poorly and are not comfortable speaking in English. When we walked over to the receptionist she did not say hello just demanded our passports. We started speaking our elementary Japanese and she lighted up. In addition the hotel charges more to foreigners try looking them up with a Japanese VPN on expedia and you'll see you can save $300 or more dollars. They really don't want forigners there just our money.

Very disappointed in not being able to dine at this ryokan. Expedia instructions was that we could not book dinner ahead of time and that reservations were to be done at checkin. Upon checkin we were told dinner reservations were full. They indicated we could have emailed them ahead of time for dinner reservations. Please update your instructions .

Gorgeous traditional Ryoken. Problem at check-in almost ruined it but we worked it out. You check in and receive a cotton kimono, toe socks and slippers. Everyone floats around like it’s ancient Japan. The rooms are lovely and spacious for Japan. The onsen is like an excellent spa! Hot pools indoor and outside in a small garden, waterfall-massage, steam room, dry sauna, cold plunge. Luxurious bath products and complimentary ice cream bars at the end. It’s transformational. Always beautiful, this time we stayed on the 3rd floor and the door color is different from each floor! Last year we were on the 4th floor. This year I was on the 3rd floor! It’s so cute! The various private onsens to choose from, then public onsen, the sauna was perfect! The cold plunge was super cold but so good after my sauna! The outdoor onsen is in a beautiful garden setting and I love relaxing in there! Just beautiful! 10:30pm late night ramen for hotel guests! Absolutely love it! The garden view is beautiful too! I love this hotel! It’s so cozy! I can’t wait to stay next year! Love love love this hotel! Right across the train station too! So convenient to get to!

This was a wonderful stay in west Kyoto, near the river and all that comes with that proximity. The grounds were lovely and the facilty was equally nice. We did not take advantage of the meals since there were so many other options in the community within easy walking distance.

It was a very authentic Japanese experience, what an amazing treat! However, it was not very clear that you HAVE to preregister for any meals, otherwise you can not eat there. There was another pub type facility on premisis in addition to where people were eating but it was not open and we werent able to understand why? This did not take away from the experience as we were able to secure meals elsewhere- but you need to find food before 8pm as the town shuts down.The massages, private baths and public baths were absolutely outstanding and very clean. They provide robes, socks, pjs and all the tolietries you could possibly need. The staff was great and SUPER friendly even though it was very busy. They needed to rely on translation apps, we did not see any other Americans or non Japanese guests so it might be more if a local favorite which really added to the authenticity. The rooms were well above adequate, not new or pristine, but maintained very well. It was really a unique and memorable experience that we will fondly remember. Defineately wirth a visit.

The staff were all super friendly. Very clean resort and rooms. Very generous with the food, you can order as much as you want for the kaiseki dinner. Breakfast was also very generous with the portions. Very close proximity to all the attractions, all within walking distances. A lot of free snacks and amenities in the public areas. Very disappointed in not being able to dine at this ryokan. Expedia instructions was that we could not book dinner ahead of time and that reservations were to be done at checkin. Hotel is easily accessible as its just right outside the Metro Station. Dinner provided was also great! Breakfast buffet was such a spread with food that are mainly emphasizing on Japan culture! Private Onsen are also available just that you may have to queue up for it during peak hours. There are 5 different onsen settings, which leaves you no choice but to try all the different settings! Will definitely return for a second time to this ryokan!
