Great hosts very friendly, hotel is situated right on the edge of the nightlife area. Big breakfast great breakfast room. Close to all amenities. The Hotel is an old converted town house with all the rooms upstairs. Big wide staircases no lift. The pub next door has a good selection of food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed our stay. .

Bit drab looking from outside. No lift and steep stairs, not great on a walking stick with a small case. Room 3 was acceptable, clean and tidy, fresh smelling however the bathroom was a "tight fit" if wanting a poo. Also the shower was smaller than a phone box with just a trickle of water! The breakfast times of 7am to 9am are not acceptable especially on the weekend. I entered the dining room at 09.40 unaware and was told "finished" I asked for a sandwich to takeaway but told i would have to pay for it ( even though my booking included breakfast). Doubt very much if i would return.

Brilliant service from Ishwar and Sabita, true care and consideration for an octogenarian guest. Great breakfast menu - cooked to perfection. However, stairs no lift and parking circa 100m in private shared carpark. Not at the pub next door which is only available for pub dining.

The owner was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was superior. Our room was clean and spacious enough. We were disappointed with the parking as that was a major reason for booking here. The parking is a block away and there is no place to unload at the lodge so you have to haul luggage from a block away.

Parking a big issue for us. There is no onsite parking, okay no worries but the pub nextdoor to Arkale somehow issued us with TWO parking tickets for loading and unloading our bags. Enterprise rental company is charging us for this 70 pounds! Almost as much as the Arkdale cost. The owner and staff seem nice but this is unacceptable. Instructions about how to park must be given before arrival. I sent an email to Arkdale about tickets but no response….

I enjoyed our 1 night stay made all the better by Ishwar the host. Really nice man. Even got in the car to direct me to his car park after I got confused by directions. It's 2 mins away behind buildings over the road. About half a mile, flat walk to station and town centre but £1.80 on one of the many buses that stop outside. Fantastic breakfast with cereals if you wish, juice/tea and full English.

Greeted by the owner as we stepped through the front door, shown straight to our room which was immaculately clean then showed me were to park my car. Overall he was extremely helpful told us of a restaurant to go for an evening meal which turned out to be very good, breakfast was excellent. If I am passing that way again then I would definitely return.

Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff. Fab breakfast. The room was clean, had everything we needed. Some areas are tired but you can see they are working hard to upgrade the tired areas. Thank you your kindness and hospitality.

Our stay here was lovely. We travelled up for a family funeral and was wanting somewere qyiet and peaceful to rest afterwards. The host was very polite and friendly the bed was super comfy and the breakfast was 10 out of 10. We will definateky be using this place when we come to see family from now on

Parking is not onsite, it's down the road in a publicly accessible car park, with CCTV. WiFi is extremely poor to being unusable. Thats the general points that would be considered negative. We had ensuite rooms, but one didn't have a toilet in the room. I'd consider that essential to be called ensuite. On the positives, the owners are very welcoming and helpful. Also, breakfast is good, nice ingredients and generous. It's within walking distance of the town centre. The neutral points are the beds are ok, not the comfiest, not the worse. Also, the rooms are basic and functional.

This hotel is OK and I would choose to stay here again. It was clean, warm and felt safe. It's not a brand new out-of-the-box chain hotel so don't expect that. On the other hand the staff were helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was good and nice for it to be included in the price.

The lodge is on a very busy main road so can be noisy at times but I had a room at the back and was quiet. I enjoyed my stay very much and will stay here again the next time I am in Carlisle.

The owner was extremely attentive, even got some decaf coffee for our room. We were able to book into our room early which was very convenient. The room was very clean and even little touches like cotton buds and cotton wool in the bathroom didn’t go unnoticed. The breakfast, wow, excellent, such a hearty meal, lots to choose from again the owner remembered I drank decaf. Attention to detail was excellent and calling me by my first name made it very welcoming and friendly. I will absolutely visit again. Thank you for making our stay so pleasurable.

I checked in very late 11pm. I had rung ahead and I was met by Ishwar the owner with a friendly smile. He even asked if I had eaten? A friendly place owned and managed by Ishwar and his wife Sabita. This was my first stay but I will definitely look at staying there again.

The room was very clean. The proprietor was extremely kind and helpful. He even helped carry the luggage upstairs. The breakfast provided in the morning was excellent! Ham, sausage, black pudding, eggs baked tomato, beans and toast all freshly cooked to order! There was also a coffee machine for lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos etc. for those with a smaller appetite you could also choose cereal or other items. The room had coffee and tea and some cookies. There are several pubs and take away restaurants within a few blocks. And for those of us who like face cloths in the bathroom, those were there also. Great little place to stay!

Great hosts very friendly, hotel is situated right on the edge of the nightlife area. Big breakfast great breakfast room. Close to all amenities. The Hotel is an old converted town house with all the rooms upstairs. Big wide staircases no lift. The pub next door has a good selection of food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed our stay. .

I had to ring ahead as I thought I would miss their opening hours, the proprietor was friendly+ helpful, said there would be no problem. In the following am was a very good breakfast, freshly cooked. Lovely place to stay. Very convenient for station and centre centre < 10 mins walk.

The lodge is on a very busy main road so can be noisy at times but I had a room at the back and was quiet. I enjoyed my stay very much and will stay here again the next time I am in Carlisle.

Bit drab looking from outside. No lift and steep stairs, not great on a walking stick with a small case. Room 3 was acceptable, clean and tidy, fresh smelling however the bathroom was a "tight fit" if wanting a poo. Also the shower was smaller than a phone box with just a trickle of water! The breakfast times of 7am to 9am are not acceptable especially on the weekend. I entered the dining room at 09.40 unaware and was told "finished" I asked for a sandwich to takeaway but told i would have to pay for it ( even though my booking included breakfast). Doubt very much if i would return.

The room was very clean. The proprietor was extremely kind and helpful. He even helped carry the luggage upstairs. The breakfast provided in the morning was excellent! Ham, sausage, black pudding, eggs baked tomato, beans and toast all freshly cooked to order! There was also a coffee machine for lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos etc. for those with a smaller appetite you could also choose cereal or other items. The room had coffee and tea and some cookies. There are several pubs and take away restaurants within a few blocks. And for those of us who like face cloths in the bathroom, those were there also. Great little place to stay!

The listing said parking available but no parking nearby and told to use residents' parking. I parked at a nearby restraurant by arrangement with that restraurant when I was having dinner. Very small shower room with the smallest hand basin. Cold breakfast plate but otherwise a very good breakfast, Overall, the pleasant staff made for a fairly enjoyable pvernight stay

Very well run hotel on the edge of Carlisle. Host was helpful and friendly. Clean room, comfortable bed. Lots of tea, coffee and biscuits! Great breakfast. Plenty pubs and restaurants easily walkable. Would recommend it and will definitely stay there again.

Breakfast was good. Didn't like the car parking as too far away from hotel and not secure. Rooms could do with and upgrade, and as no toilet in each bedroom as I had to share. Also not suitable for disabled access, as no lift and too many steap stairs.
