Check-in was pleasant, easy and nice. Nice space for dog to go to the bathroom, clean area. Clean room. Lots of tv channel options. Shower is smallish and water flow on lower side but worked fine! Bed was a little firm and heat, even though we turned down, is kind of noisy while kicking in and left us dry feeling in the morning. Overall really nice stay and a nice kept up place!

Had a great fire in the fire pit around back. Staff was helpful and super friendly. Love this retro motel...kinda making it an annual thing to stop overnight on our Labor Day adventure. Thumbs up.

This is the kind of place that brings you back to simpler times and it felt good being here. Place was clean, felt safe, room was nicely decorated and bed was comfortable AND you could back right up to your room to unload your car! Staff was very friendly.

Love this hotel. It’s comfortable safe and friendly. I have stayed alone, with husband, and even with kids. I make it a point to land here for my half way mark traveling or with my husband for the fishing trips my husband thinks I love. I also love fact I can just back up to my door to unpack. There is also plenty of room to park a boat in the back. I’d also like to mention there is an amazing restaurant right next door.

Nice motel with clean and comfortable rooms. The beds were comfortable and had plenty of pillows. The room was clean and had a small area to sit along with a mini frig. The bathroom was clean with a nice big shower and plenty of towels. this is right along side a busy road and you can hear the traffic noises in the room, but that is not the hotel's fault- it's just the location. Restaurant next door was decent and easy to walk to. Parking was adequate. Personnel were friendly, helpful, and personable. I would stay here again and would recommend this place to others.

Booked our stay for 2 days and extended to a 3rd. We were there to explore the area. Our room was very clean, comfortable, updated and nicely decorated!! Enjoyed meeting and speaking with our fellow guests. Plenty of area to exercise your dog. Jasper especially appreciated the treats from the staff. We would definitely stay there again!! Jasper (us too) give a 4-woof rating. George, Dawn & Jasper.

I stay here most every time I come home. I like how home-like the rooms are and the ease with which you can come and go. However, I say this with each visit: you need some sort of ice machine, even if you keep it enclosed in the office with limited access. Outside the ice machine, I really like this place and recommend it highly.

I've stayed here many times. This is a wonderful roadside motel. Spotlessly clean, updated, <5 minutes to Escanaba proper, very comfortable beds, quiet. These folks are doing everything well.

The room was very clean and looked well maintained. This is what is most important! While most places may have extras, for the great rate this motel had what counts most. Was quite pleasantly surprised! Also of note, I found I rather have in rented space with wooden or laminate floors over carpet. They’re more likely to be more sanitarily cleaned!

It was a basic room, but it was clean and had the necessities. The fridge was cold instead of just barely cool like some i have experienced in more expensive hotels.The staff was very friendly, and when I asked what sights were around, I was given a great suggestion that ended up being amazing. It is conveniently located just off the highway, yet I wasn’t disturbed by traffic noise. The restaurant next door had very tasty home cooking. This is the second time I have stayed there when I have visited the UP, and to me, it’s the best value around.

Motel type properties can be run down, but not the Sunset Lodge! You can tell that the owner(s) care at this establishments. The rooms were cozy and renovated. I loved the shower. The water pressure was good and the temperature got hot. With it being near the road, you can hear some road traffic but it surprisingly didn’t affect my sleep at all. It was also COLD outside and the heat kept the room plenty warm. The place is nothing fancy, but it's affordable, clean, and a comfortable stay. Would stay here again!

Did not sleep well due to exterior lighting and very firm mattresses. there was no hair dryer in the room. I later learned that they were available on request, but we left before the office opened and I was surprised not to find it in the bathroom. For around $170 this was a pricey night.

We had a good size fridge in the room and the microwave warmed up anything we wanted. Bathrooms are all new with a big shower and nice towels. Don't forget to bring a hairdryer if ya require one. Friendly people work there so you'll enjoy dealing with them during your stay. Great place for the price so I'll be staying there again!

The motel was very nicely renovated and clean. Beds were super comfy. The only downfall was that the rooms were very noisy and paper thin. The A/C is super loud and you could hear the person snoring next door.

Room was updated and clean. Fair cheap price for a place to sleep. Only negatives were pillows were tiny and bedding was cheap. Also, the person doing checkins announced your room rumber and passcode to the entire lobby. I'd stay here again though.

My stay was wonderful, except I could not get the heater to work in my room, so I was a bit chilled during the night. Other than that, the staff was very friendly, kind, and the room was perfect for what I needed it for for my one night stay🙂 I also forgot a bag when I checked out of my room the next morning, and the cleaning staff called me immediately and told me that I forgot it so I could come back and get it before I got too far out of town, so that was very much appreciated, as it had my daily medicines in it🙂 I would definitely recommend your place to family and friends and would come back and stay again🙂 Thank you for a wonderful, comforting stay🙂

We stayed twice, a week apart, as we traveled to and from our vacation destination. It's a small property and an older motel with entrance from the outdoors. The room has been redone and was lovely. Comfortable bed and the room provided all we needed. We did not hear our neighbors even though the motel was fully booked. No breakfast there but a small restaurant next door serves good food and we had a discount because of staying at the motel. (Recommend sharing a breakfast unless you like to eat a huge meal in the morning!) The road is quite close but traffic was not an issue at night and we slept very well.

Side of the road motel. Room was clean. Lots of noise from roadway and couple fighting in room next door. Air conditioner helped, but be aware right on the side of busy highway. Breakfast coupon for restaurant across parking lot was great. Food there was very good.

Love this hotel. It’s comfortable safe and friendly. I have stayed alone, with husband, and even with kids. I make it a point to land here for my half way mark traveling or with my husband for the fishing trips my husband thinks I love. I also love fact I can just back up to my door to unpack. There is also plenty of room to park a boat in the back. I’d also like to mention there is an amazing restaurant right next door.

It was right next to a family restaurant, we had the family style chicken and it was delicious. Chicken was moist and tender very good flavor to the breading. It came with coleslaw, dressing mashed potatoes, and very tasty gravy, a roll and a scoop of ice cream for dessert

We have stayed here three times now. We like the area, the ease of access and the convenience of the little restaurant so close for breakfast, and a discount coupon to boot! Staff is always friendly.

Fast check in. Very clean, updated rooms. Coupon for breakfast at a little place next door. This is next to a highway so it may not be your pick if you’re a light sleeper or plan to sleep in. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone traveling through the UP.

It was a basic room, but it was clean and had the necessities. The fridge was cold instead of just barely cool like some i have experienced in more expensive hotels.The staff was very friendly, and when I asked what sights were around, I was given a great suggestion that ended up being amazing. It is conveniently located just off the highway, yet I wasn’t disturbed by traffic noise. The restaurant next door had very tasty home cooking. This is the second time I have stayed there when I have visited the UP, and to me, it’s the best value around.

I've stayed here many times. This is a wonderful roadside motel. Spotlessly clean, updated, <5 minutes to Escanaba proper, very comfortable beds, quiet. These folks are doing everything well.
