Bay Broadway Park Hotel

The hotel is comfortable although the general condition is tired. There is NO SWIMMING POOL, filled in years ago. The gardens and courtyard are pleasant to sit in for a drink from the bar. The breakfast was not worth £18 charged. A lack of staff. No secure baggage drop, just left in open reception area.

Lifts to floors too small and confusing But the room and staff excellent.

For the money paid for a 3 night stay it was a bargain! Great quiet location with nice green surroundings, red squirrels easy to spot. Convenient short walk into Sandown and nice large free car park. Yes the hotel is dated but it was clean, functional and the staff were friendly. We enjoyed the short stay.

The check-in at reception was easy. The way to the room in 3rd floor room was tiring with the luggages. We had to take 2 old elevators which is very small and old which had internal internal doors. Inside the room, found few insects near the windows as they wr kept open. The bed was comfy and the hot water didn't have any issues. The breakfast was ok. A coffee machine in the breakfast area would have made a lot of difference. Conclusion: Of course it's a budget hotel and ok for short stay if you have no other better choices.

The property is lightly dated. Although advertised the pool has been filled in and is now an outside seating area. Kept awake till gone 2am but that's the guests so no fault of the hotel. Other than that fantastic value for money and the all you can eat breakfast was very tasty. We would stay again.

Steep steps to property entrance and a heavy door to push open. Very dangerous for older people.

A little bit run-down but reflected in price. The grounds were lovely. Room was comfortable and clean but unfortunately TV did not work. Staff friendly and helpful. Note: there is no swimming pool anymore.

Was working away from home and booked on location price parking and breakfast. The exterior from afar looks pleasant unfortunately the general areas I visited appeared quite dated. The carpets appeared ill fitting in a lot of the room areas. I was pretty annoyed to be charged for parking on arrival despite it being listed as being free on the Expedia listing - I found this quite distasteful and set a negative tone to my two night stay. I was asked to put a date in my car - I noted very few cars I. The car park had this. I also was unable to find a space when I went out with my car later that evening when I realised the dining options were somewhat limited at 8pm in Sandown on a Monday night. It wasn’t the cost as at £2 it wasn’t going to break the bank but it was poor given they admitted it was a new policy they had just started. The room was ok other than the window opening on one side and being very work and clearly in need of a service/replacement on the side that did open. The corridors need touching up at the least. I had a twin room although the bathroom was relatively well done there was poor filling work and blistering on the shelf which just looked poor. The shower head was dirty around the top where the water comes out - I tried not to think about that! An incredible find! Full of character, historic building - you absolutely have to experience the lifts. Comfortable beds and warm rooms, best night's sleep ever. Hot shower with great pressure. Friendly staff and nothing too much trouble. Ample free parking in grounds of hotel. Red squirrels in the gardens.. I've already booked my next stay.

Comfortable quiet and clean, this was very good value stay.

The hotel is extremely tired and in desperate need of redecorating. Room was dirty. Dead flys on the window ledge, cobbweb in the corners and rubbish under the bed from the previous guests. Checked in just after 3pm and when I asked about the restaurant at 4pm i was told i was too late to book. Staff were friendly enough but that didn't compensate for the lack of cleanliness.

Had a great stay the room was very clean and tidied every day. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The room wasn't cleaned, we had to ask for fresh towels ,we had four guests for an evening meal, the four fish meals came with out any vegetables ,no apologies, we asked for some bread, they said no ,very disappointed in meal, which was expensive, no proper coffees for breakfast, could do a lot better.

Staff were lovely. Hotel was heavily worn and not a lot of upkeep seems to have happened. The windows in our room were filthy inside and out and with black mould growing inside and algae outside. The Juliet balcony was rusted through and paint chipped away. The bathroom, although new looking had black mould in the shower cubicle and absolutely no water pressure. The room was not serviced between the days stayed so refreshment were not replenished. The was no air conditioning, no fridge and no secure place to keep belongings as the room latch did not work.

Allocated a pet friendly room conveniently on the 1st floor, upon arrival in the room had a bath not a shower which wasn’t quite indicated on booking. Thought all en-suite rooms had a shower, as per photos seen, thus couldn’t use a bath due to physical disability. In this room, there was a very large stain on the carpet, and generally dirty spots all round. I appreciate this was a pet friendly type room but took photos so that the hotel didn’t think me/my dogs were responsible. Upon highlighting to reception appeared to be aware of it?? The cover on my duvet had quite prominent stains on it in several places. Again mentioned to reception. Managed to change rooms after 1 night, which was good, however, the new room, although a very nice single, was in an annex part of the hotel on the second floor which was a long way to accommodate dog’s ablutions etc. Hotel is generally in desperate need of repairs/refurbishment to the outside and some inside rooms. On the plus side, although the front garden area is in need of some tender loving gardening care, it is a lovely peaceful area to sit quietly and relax. However, I did empty their overflowing ashtrays for them after 3 days, as nobody else seemed too willing to do this little job. Staff were helpful and happy particularly in the Restaurant Area, a couple elsewhere less so. Restaurant dinner x 3 courses, eaten in half hour. Edible but processed/plated food. NOISY at night, voices carry, doors bang, my dogs bark! Can’t sleep well!

Rooms were not cleant properly poor ventilation in rooms poor lighting

When we got there, we were told to wait an extra forty minutes. We were tired, hungry, and just needed a shower. When we got in the room, it was nice. Clean. However, we expected some cleaning to be done during our stay, but only 1 night out of our 4 was there any cleaning done. There was a lot of rubbish in our room thanks to the bins being so tiny, and we didn't get given fresh towels, so had to use damp towels every night. The beds weren't too comfy, had quite a stiff neck every morning and the room was stuffy, hot, despite keeping the window open all hours of the day. Not much the hotel can do about that, though. It was quite noisy on our floor, the walls weren't very good at keeping out the sound, so we could hear our neighbours. Not to mention the doors slammed every time it was opened, causing us to wake up due to the sound being so loud! The scenery of the hotel was picturesque, though, and relatively quite peaceful.

Clean room, quiet stay which is what I wanted as it was a work stay

The room was dirty , bathroom was dirty and in need of repair. Very dated decor, carpet was in need of a clean and there was a thick layer of dust on the curtains. Reception was supposed to be manned 24 hours , but we were on Island for Scooter rally and ended up locked out on return from an event and after knocking and getting no response had to make a phone call and eventually a member of staff who came out in his boxer shorts , let us in. I requested a plaster for a cut on my hand and member of staff on reception didn't know where to find one and didn't know where the first aid kit was kept. He complained that he wasn't supposed to be working that day. We were very disappointed and it definitely wasn't worth the £370 we paid for two nights excluding breakfast.

It was a last minute booking. Did the job. Not as impressive as it appeared eg, sink cracked and held together with tape. It was also quite noisy and room very hot.

Lovely old building In beautiful grounds, we was in the Green block and rooms were modern and clean. Breakfast was not the best, but for the price of this Hotel INC breakfast I won’t moan too much, staff were good, breakfast workers could do with cheering up but they did have to put up with some awkward peolle who want Michelin star breakfast for £35 a night. Would I come back here yes, but probably so go back to the Isle of Wight as sadly it is a bit of a ghost town now and not recovered according to locals since covid.

I was delighted with my stay. Yet I suggest that it's clearly mentioned to guests, that it's high up a hill. My body has copd lung disease, it would have been good to know about the hill. Best wishes to all of the staff. The wi-fi in room 105 was intermittent

we had a great stay, a couple of gremlins but not serious The room was comfortable but dated Shower pressure was below expectation some Fixtures not operating properly Apart from that it was a beautiful charismatic place with a bit of a ghostly vibe ❤️ Staff were fabulous and efficient no complaints there 👌

Overall pretty good considering the price you pay. Shower great and a comfortable room for the money. Though doors to the rooms don't shut easily meaning they need a slam, which when people are coming and going every hour slamming your doors you wake up 5 or 6 times in the night. Can also hear your neighbours TV, conversations and singing in the shower due to thin walls. Would be a great property with easy to close doors and some sound insulation between rooms.

The hotel is quaint, but a little tired. Dinner is between 5.30 and 6.30 so if you have a day out and want to get showered before eating then forget it (and you have to book in for it before 3pm). Breakfast was lovely. The room was very clean, with it being tidied every day. The shower however was tiny (think sardines in a tin) and it took a while for the water to get warm.

Clean towels daily, breakfast was OK but not a full continental, staff were miserable & not all helpfull. TV was too small, needs a refurb. No electric car points. Toilet kept running after flushing. Sticker on window saying do not open as broken. Late check in time. Cleaner left door open after cleaning so when we got back we had to check out our room incase anyone else had been in there. Didn't see a yine hoovering the stairways & were dirty. Would not recommend to anyone or stay again as not worth the amount we paid.

The room we had was in the main, older part of the building which had single glazing so could have been improved by double glazing. The fixtures and fittings of the room were dated and we had no bedside lights and a very small tv … the remote for which didn’t work as the battery casing was missing and cellotaped on …. But the reception replaced it for a working one the minute we asked. The overall feeling was that it’s a bit dated but the grounds were lovely …. Parking ample and free ….

Stayed for 3 nights in middle of summer. Reception was totally deserted when I arrived at 8pm, had to wait 10 minutes for receptionist to even arrive! Lobby, bar and main building is really old and stale. Obviously hasn’t had any renovation or had new furniture in decades. Didn’t eat in restaurant, but it looked the same. Thankfully I was put in the “new” wing, where the room was actually okay. Bed was comfy, nice shower. TV with lots of channels, although reception was a bit bad. But at least the room seemed like it had been decorated in the last decade. Noisy fan in the bathroom, but I was able to switch that off.

the rooms are not sound proof. even a tiny sneeze from next door felt like bombs dropping. The hotel is very dated. It is cheap so you get what you pay for.

Our dog was made welcome. Had to change room, due to a maintenance issue. But nothing was too much for the staff. Got a cup of tea each as too early for check-in (bad weather why we were early). Staff were fantastic.

Staff very welcoming, breakfast very good apart from burnt toast. Rooms are quite tired. Windows need replacing as ours did not close, so had to change rooms. Bathrooms retiled, but paintwork on doors and skirtings need cleaning and re-painting. Price was reasonable .

We were greeted as if we were a nuisance checking in. We were immediately charged for the privilege of parking in the hotel car park. We checked in at 4.15 pm and were told they couldn’t accommodate us for dinner. The hotel was full of coach parties who clearly got preference. Breakfast was reasonable and the dining room staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful but struggling through under staffing in view of the demand. I wouldn’t stay again.

Disappointing. The promotion photos must have been taken at least 10 years ago. it appears to be run on a budget with staff covering reception and bar. Breakfast is chaotic, particularly if a coach party is in

There was no information whatsoever in our room i.e. Dining Times or contact numbers . I was taken ill overnight and into the whole of next day , tried to obtain Doctor via 111 but gave up . A member of Cleaning staff , , was very helpful , gave us number for Reception and Ferry Company . Reported to Reception being ill but male person offered no help . I managed to bring forward Ferry to next day hoping I would be able to drive . Luckily I felt able to attempt journey home . We struggled with our cases and discovered a Lift that we had not been told about ! I reported to the female receptionist that we felt neglected and she had an entry on a large notepad recording me being unwell and to check on us . Despite this and also never appearing for breakfast or dinner we had paid for , no one contacted us . Very poor management .

Room was fine. Reception incredibly RUDE and unhelpful. Not a good start to our stay .

Really great place to stay, quiet location yet just a 10 min stroll to the beach. Clean, comfortable and really good value. There’s a restaurant on site but we didn’t use it so I can’t comment about that. I’ve stayed before in a twin room with a friend and was with my husband this time. Will definitely stay again. I even messed up my dates and they switched me to the date I wanted, so am really pleased with the service.

No room service for 3 days. 3 different members of staff including manager did nothing despite regular complaints. Appalling service. Lack of staff.

its convenient location for town and beach

This property is quaint and ideally located for a holiday in the isle of Wight. The place is clean and the rooms with terraces are very pleasant to relax on. There is some signs of wear and tear but it's not distracting from the beauty of the surrounding area. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. We will definitely be back as it's very reasonably priced.

Excellent location near railway station and Sandown beach.

Loved the old fashioned feel to the building, the grounds are lovely, its next to a small park area, which I found great for a little 4 mile run! Hotel is 5 mins walk from the seafront and a few minutes from nearest train station.

Peak summer they kept the price quite affordable. We booked at the last moment and they gave us the the service on time. Very nice property and the location.

A lovely building albeit a little dated inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Garden area very nice. Hotel was about a 10 minute walk to the seafront.

Booked this hotel May stayed here years ago and wanted to take my parents back. It's a little dated but could not fault the breakfast or entertainment. Sally on reception is a credit to the hotel she was so friendly and helpful. Places are walkable about 10-15 mins to the beach and local bars. Would return

The hotel was very good along with the staff l met. My only disappointment was l couldn’t get food as they had 2no Coach bookings. I may be wrong on this but l thought hotel guests were a priority ??

No major concerns but a bit of sprucing up all round, staff and facilities, wouldn’t go amiss. No coffee available in the bay after dinner as ‘machine broken’.Disabled spaces need to be on flat ground not the steep incline as at present. Evening meal timings need better information from staff on check in.
