It was like stepping back in time very old hotel with decor from 1960 ish . The bed was very hard the Airconditioning didn’t work properly. The cleaning staff and lady in breakfast room were lovely along with the receptionist. The gentleman that did the night shift was very cranky. The shower was only a very low low to no pressure. The hair dryer was from the 60s could dry hair . It’s very convenient to rail way station.

This hotel was very accessible from the train station and very accessible to the walled city, the room was spacious and clean. We were surprised that the air-conditioning was not available until May 1 which was after our stay overall would recommend it to anyone for a 2 to 3 day stay

Nel mio soggiorno nella camera 21, non c'era acqua calda e non è stato possibile fare la doccia. Inoltre, l'aria condizionata non funzionava. Spero che possiate risolvere questi problemi.

This property is right outside the wall to the city and had free parking which is always a plus. The hotel is older but has a lot of charm. The breakfast was excellent. We only stayed one night but the town was a favorite. Loved walking the wall in the early morning. We listened to music in several areas of the city at night one of which was at the amphitheater which was where we also ate dinner. Great stay and the city was a wonderful surprise.

5 minutes walk from the railway station in Lucca and only 5 minutes walk to the walled city. The Rex hotel was very clean and comfortable throughout, the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs, as my wife is disabled. The continental breakfast was adequate with no limit on eating.

The staff were very friendly. This hotel is just beside Lucca's train station and was convient if arriving by train. It is only a short walk to one of the city gates.

We spent 5 nights at Hotel Rex and would happily stay there again. The location is very convenient to the train station and very close to the entrances to Lucca. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast buffet was delicious.

Sì, la stanza era pulita, in ordine e ci siamo trovati il riscaldamento acceso, cosa da non sottovalutare. La colazione spaziava dal dolce al salato con creme spalmabili di marca. Anche qui, nulla da dire. Siamo stati contenti del trattamento e della gentilezza di tutto lo staff. Se poi aggiungiamo che al check out ci hanno lasciato un regalo a testa per i bambini direi ottimo!

Nettes kleines Hotel mit Charme aus vergangener Zeit. Sehr nettes Personal, alles sauber. Frühstück angemessen. Kaum Schallisolierung. Mein Nachbar hatte Husten und das fühlte sich so an, als ob sie in meinem Zimmer wäre. Die Fenster sind allerdings sehr gut, es drängen keine Geräusche von außen ins Zimmer. Gleich am Bahnhofsplatz gelegen. Ich würde wiederkommen.

The location right next to the train station is so convenient (couple blocks to the walled portion of the city). The staff appears to be a family, super cute and helpful. Rooms are pretty large. The beds were maybe not the best but we'd totally stay here again given all the other benefits. Breakfast was delicious and varied with many options. This hotel is a gem!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Location is good. Just right outside train station and 5minutes walk to the walls. Rooms a bit dated but good size and functional with a mini fridge. Shower was fine and room keeping did a good job each day. Breakfast was average but think it was free so can’t complain. Bread, hard boiled eggs, selection of pasties and selection of cereals. Air con broke in our room so we’re moved room immediately. Staff were very good and did their best to help us get to Florence as train strike and no buses on a Sunday

Hotel semplice, d'epoca, ma globalmente confortevole e molto pulito; la nostra camera, anche se un po' buia e senza vista, era ampia ed arredata in modo classico; il bagno è abbastanza grande e ben fornito. Il personale ci è sembrato disponibile e cordiale; la colazione accettabile, il buon rapporto qualità-prezzo, la posizione comodissima per la stazione e non lontana dal centro, lo rendono nel complesso un hotel da consigliare se non si hanno troppe pretese.
Hotel semplice, d'epoca, ma globalmente confortevole e molto pulito; la nostra camera, anche se un po' buia e senza vista, era ampia ed arredata in modo classico; il bagno è abbastanza grande e ben fornito. Apart from a grumpy and unhelpful welcome, things got better in this markedly old-fashioned hotel, but not enough to stop me checking out one day early. Antiquated but efficient a/c system; small but clean en-suite and a quiet room were the plus points. Dull rather gloomy decor and a complicated system of light switches were negative issues. It seemed impossible to have an independent bedside light. There was a more than adequate breakfast with an interesting range of crockery. Location was extremely convenient for rail travellers but was a five-minute walk to the city entrance gate.

Staff was outstanding. So friendly and helpful. We arrived early so they kept our bags while we headed to Pisa. The room was large with comfortable beds and crisp linens. The decor is definitely “unique”. We had a chuckle and thought it was fun. They have lots of little nooks with books, baskets of cookies and Knick knacks. Very kid friendly with a few toys in our room. The breakfast was delicious with a large choice of pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurt, juices, coffee and cappuccino, cereals, toast, fruit and much more. Steps from the station and the gate into town. Close to good restaurant(s). We loved the staff and our stay.
Staff was outstanding. So friendly and helpful. We arrived early so they kept our bags while we headed to Pisa. The room was large with comfortable beds and crisp linens. The decor is definitely “unique”. We had a chuckle and thought it was fun. They have lots of little nooks with books, baskets of cookies and Knick knacks. Very kid friendly with a few toys in our room. The breakfast was delicious with a large choice of pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurt, juices, coffee and cappuccino, cereals, toast, fruit and much more. Steps from the station and the gate into town. Close to good restaurant(s). We loved the staff and our stay.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Location is good. Just right outside train station and 5minutes walk to the walls. Rooms a bit dated but good size and functional with a mini fridge. Shower was fine and room keeping did a good job each day. Breakfast was average but think it was free so can’t complain. Bread, hard boiled eggs, selection of pasties and selection of cereals. Air con broke in our room so we’re moved room immediately. Staff were very good and did their best to help us get to Florence as train strike and no buses on a Sunday

Location - excellent for public transport. We used bus and train to reach the hotel and both stopped at the Stazione which is a 3 minutes walk to the hotel. The hotel is good and affordable. Staff was very helpful storing the luggage, giving information and even a plug because ours did not work.

A family-friendly place to stay: The "double quadruple" room had 4 twin beds, two of which were licated in a kind of loft; the room was supplied with kids' games and toys. Fabulous breakfast. The receptionist was extremely helpful in finding information and making recommendations for us during a train strike that (pardon the pun) derailed our plans. The location, between the old city walls and the train station, was convenient and surprisingly quiet. Things were pretty basic in the room. Decor was haphazard and the closet space pretty tight. No iron or ironing board. Teeny shower. But we were not there for the amenities, and the staff was terrific.

5 minutes walk from the railway station in Lucca and only 5 minutes walk to the walled city. The Rex hotel was very clean and comfortable throughout, the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs, as my wife is disabled. The continental breakfast was adequate with no limit on eating.

Best equipped 3 star hotel on our 14 day Italy trip. Kettle and tea in the room, biscuits available. Very good breakfast choice and 2 minute walk from the train station and 5 minutes from the amazing city walks. This hotel is very close to the train station and very central to the walls. The staff were particularly lovely. The hotel could do with some updating. The breakfast was varied but the doughnuts were a bit stale. I particularly enjoyed sweets at breakfast. The shower was small and we kept knocking it off, also the shower needed updating. Room was a large size and bed massive an clean.

The rooms and amenities were excellent, the breakfast provided daily had a good selection to start your day. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The extra amenities in the room were a bonus (kettle for coffee and tea, in the hallway there was extra coffee, tea and cookies if you wanted a snack) The location right beside the train station and across the road from Lucca City Center make this hotel ideal, we would highly recommend it and will definitely stay here again
