Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook

The people were excellent, especially Lauryn at the front desk. Kind, accommodating and informative. Excellent facilities, with a gum and pool.

Digital key wasn’t working to open the back had to walk around to the front. Only complaint

Stayed for a couple of days while taking my comprehensive exams. There was some construction going on in the lobby, but it was never loud or anything. Still a great place to stay (with great staff) if you're on campus and need a room. I'm sure it'll be even better once the construction/upgrades are finished.

Pool and hot tub was great too!

The rooms were clean and spacious. We also enjoyed the indoor pool and jacuzzi.

It was very convenient, many nice touches such as water with sliced fruit, loved the snack nook that included alcohol, the bar, the hot tub and pool and cleanliness

However sheets had a weird smell (possibly just the cleaning process), and one of the comforters had a dried brown blob (blood?). There was still hair in the bathroom corners and in the bedroom in the carpet. Little Market downstairs was well stocked with small things to eat and drink as well as personal care items and alcohol for purchase. Room service only ran for four hours for dinner service and charged 18$ a head for a sit down breakfast with fewer options than old buffet style. In hotel dinner was expensive and service while sit down was okay until the end when our server ended up talking to the table behind us well after we were ready for boxes, this lead to the other server in the restaurant to get us our boxes and eventually the bill as he continued to chit chat to the other table. The pool was as open 0800-2200 and was clean with attached bathrooms and towels provided. For the event we attended while we stayed it was a little more than I wanted to pay but within good distances to train stations so we could avoid city traffic. Overall: Friendly desk staff, Well stocked market, rooms not as clean as I would’ve expected for price, poor breakfast options, limited room service hours, nice pool.

The rooms are spacious even tho we have three people. Area around the hotel is quiet and very walkable. Five minute walk to Stony Brook campus Social Behavioral Science Building. Parents of the University could take school shuttle bus from LIRR to Hotel. They also have a big parking lot for hotel customer. Daily coffee and beverage is served every morning. There is a restaurant near lobby and some refreshment can be found near the restaurant for purchase. Room has closet and dresser for putting away clothes. Toiletries are well stocked. Staffs are friendly and helpful and welcoming. Don’t shy away to reach out. Rooms are quiet and clean. Would definitely go back!

Great workout room.

Property was as expected for this brand and staff were nice during check in however housekeeping did not restock paper items in bathroom and left a dirty rag in the room.

The property was dirty. There was hair in the shower. Staff member named Sal was rude. The staff at the restaurant were great.

I’m a Hilton Reward Member, though I paid cash for this room. My son lives in a one bedroom nearby, and I stayed a few miles further because I thought a Hilton property would be clean and neat. This was not the case. I had a late check in, and was immediately turned off by the room. The floor was sticky walking in. The night tables had a film . I cleaned them with my airplane wipes… they came away black. I told the front desk the next morning.. they promised it would be cleaned, it was not. The following day the room was due for its’ every other day cleaning/ towel replacement, etc.. THAT was never done. Finally cleaned my last day there , but a rubber band I had dropped was exactly where I dropped it on the floor. No mopping?!?

There were some kids are loud, running up and down the hallway, but for the most part, it was good. There’s some mold in the showers that could be taken care of with some bleach, but other than that it’s sufficient.

Dirty and old smell

Hotel was spotless and the staff especially the restaurant staff with great. It's right at Stony Brook Univ and easy to travel around 25A

We were in town for a wedding for only 1 night. Arrived around 3:00 p.m. and check-in was very fast and easy. Plus we didn't have to wait for our room. Room was huge, big comfy bed, and very clean (bathroom included). Definitely stay here again. The area was very quiet. The only issue we had was the electric window shades. It wouldn't go up.

Room was spacious and nicely appointed. Unfortunately the water pressure was lousy and the HVAC unit was the noisiest I have ever heard with a high pitched whine.

Staff very nice, hotel quiet and clean.

Walls are very thin. I was in 221 and could hear almost every word of a phone conversation next door!

The rooms were not very soundproof. We could hear people in the hall and next door to us. The hotel was great with very friendly staff. I liked the free coffee set up in the am and daily fresh water set up. Would have liked the restaurant to offer breakfast other than the full priced buffet.

The hotel Jr. Suite does not sleep 4 anymore. The pullout sofa in the living area is gone, replaced with a regular sofa. The bathroom sink and tub did not drain properly. When taking a shower I had to stand in dirty water above my ankle. No compensation given.

Staff was great, pool and hot tub was clean and nice for relaxing. The room’s bathroom, though, could have used a bit more maintenance and hot water wasn’t super hot. Also, top floor has sounds of attic fans which made sleeping not peaceful. Overall, a nice stay, just slightly not up to typical Hilton standards.

Main problem with the room was the Air Conditioning. Checked in the room was 77 degrees. Turned the ac down to 70, waited 3 hours still 77. Called the front desk they promptly sent up a tech. He looked at the stat and said everything is ok. I said no it’s 77, no reason to argue. Had trouble sleeping, the room was sticky and humid. Temp only got down to 75 during the night. Did not enjoy the stay

One of the front desk person was not friendly, like a supervisor, when we asked her to recover food left behind in the fridge. I do not think she checked really good and came back and just said it was trashed. Really nice expensive steak wasted.

I visited my son over the Easter and spent 2 nights there. When I checked in, the front desk asked me if I wanted the room being cleaned between my stay. I said yes. Next day, when I came back and noticed the room was not cleaned. I called the front desk and it happened to be the same girl answered the phone. She insisted that I asked not to clean the room. I told her that she must misunderstood me and all I needed now was some clean towels. However, she said I was yelling at her and hang up on me. This was the worst service I have ever had in any hotels.

It was a very noisy place to stay. People knocking at my room and running. Prank calls then hanging up. The room next door was loud at 3am in the morning. Called to front desk and they did nothing for us.

This hotel does not allow toddler air mattresses. Our toddler still falls out of beds. We brought a JetKids Stokke toddler air mattress knowing the hotel did not provide bed rails and she was too heavy for a pack n play. There was nothing that indicated this was not allowed when we made the reservation. The woman at the front desk was relentless and rude (in front of the manager) when telling us to remove the mattress. The manager actually looked at her for an answer when I asked him for a solution. I was completely willing to remove the mattress, but was questioning the logic of allowing rollaway beds and pack n plays while our toddler mattress was a fire hazard, the woman threatened to call the police on us when I was completely civil and was just asking about the policy. They provided no other solution to keep my toddler safe, just yelled at us to remove the air mattress or they were going to call the police. I’ve been to many hotels with the mattress, it’s never been a problem and was shocked at the way the woman treated us. She also refused to add my Hilton honors to the hotel, was nasty on the phone when our wifi didn’t work, and rudely questioned me when I asked why half of our channels didn’t work. I had four people in our room, we were only given three towels. We could not wait to leave as we felt completely harassed and uncomfortable during our stay. If you have kids - DO NOT STAY HERE.

Came in for q Wedding, Property staff was very professional and welcoming.

I have stayed here many times and it is always a good experience. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean. I love that they switched refillable toiletries in the rooms. Good parking

We were visiting friends for Christmas and the hotel was near by. It was at a good location for access to hi-way and other amenities. The room was large with good circulation space even with 2 queen beds. Really comfortable would go back .

Perfect location for any event on campus.

Had a trip to Stony Brook University, so stayed here. Very, very walkable to campus. Easy to get to the LIRR Station. I didn't need to do anything off-campus in during my stay, but if you plan to go off-campus, recommend renting a car. The hotel itself is great. It's not the fanciest, but it's a comfortable place to lay your head and get a good nights sleep. Appreciated the fact that their gym had free weights and not just resistance machines.

It's very convenient for patients with early morning procedures to stay for the night. Located near many shopping and dining options.

It was perfect for our needs for visiting SUNY Stony Brook.

The Hilton Garden Inn has an extremely convenient proximity to Stony Brook University Hospital.

The property was convenient. The front desk was not friendly. The breakfast buffet was convenient , but only okay. There was only 1 chair in the room for 2 people.

Good communication, clean, nice staff - bartender and wait staff for breakfast were outstanding. Breakfast was great and a good value. Would definitely stay again. The hotel has the feel of a place that is well run with polite and helpful employees.

Front desk staff, particularly Sal, were great! Restaurant food and waiter (sorry didn’t get his name) were outstanding.

The area and room was very clean. The made to order food was very good for both breakfast and dinner. There is also a breakfast buffet that comes with your reservation.

I’ve stayed here multiple times and its always a pleasure. The breakfast is pretty damn good and the waitress that took care of us was WONDERFUL! Quick check in and out. Good parking. Decent wifi

Staff was very nice — front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast. The hotel is right on the property of SUNY Stony Brook, so it’s very convenient. The SUNY Stony Brook website said there was a discount for prospective students who signed up for the tour…. However, there was no prompt for the code during the Expedia reservation process. And the front desk people at the hotel didn’t know what I was talking about. The walk-up-and-order breakfast was nice, but very expensive. I would’ve preferred a cheap, or free, continental breakfast — with the walk-up-grill as an option if you wanted to pay through the nose for it. This was the only option for breakfast — unless you drove into town to hunt and gather. But the appeal of the hotel was that it was right there on the campus. I was feeling a little swindled. But, overall, an acceptable stay.
