Courtyard by Marriott Galveston Island

Pros: Clean, comfortable, and great location! Cons: Pool was dirty and cloudy and an incident at pool with rowdy guests not handled properly by the staff. Would stay again!

Stay was good. the view is good. only thing we didn’t like is breakfast turns out to be not included so we paid as mich as we paid for the room just to eat.. there was also an extra charge fo what seems to be a “resturant room” which was actually just an average table… the pool towels were not available. and only 1 ice machine in all 4 stories were actually working. the rest were out of service.

This Courtyard was a great place to stay, clean and very well maintained. The room was clean and well arranged. The pool was amazing.

Hotel was in a good location. Parking was easy. Pool was nice. My only ‘complaints’ were breakfast wasn’t included, but that was very clear on the reservation, the pool was a bit cloudy, I couldn’t take my own beverages to the pool, and the pool space had cabanas but they were for reservation only. We never saw anyone ever use them which seemed like a waste of space.

The pool was beautiful and the couch outside with the fireplace was very relaxing

Lots of recent fixes that are subpar. Wifi spotty, elevator slow, pool cold, room door insanely heavy, toilet only worked sometimes. Overall6 out of ten for what we paid.

Front clerk was awesome - free s’mores set up to make by fire pit

Overall had a very good stay here. Only 2 issues during our stay were the "heated pool" was not heated and the water was freezing and waited half and hour for additional toiletries that never came so went get my own from elsewhere.

I like the pool/bar area. Great bar tender, great atmosphere, great people.

The pool/bar are awesome and real friendly staff. Had morning coffee and breakfast was downstairs was very good with great service.

Check in delayed 30 minutes room not clean, staff did nothing to get our room cleaned. Ice machines on floors 3& 3 broken. Channels on cable not offered such as Netflix it there to select but not available per front desk. I guess the channels were removed to save money. I used to be a Marriot frequent member before I retired, this was the worst hotel in all of my travels across America.

Woke up in the middle of the night with a roach crawling on me.....that's disgusting. Could've crawled in my ear if i didnt kill it.

The first room they gave me was not ready. Dirty Towels strewn about the room and bed not made

There was a roach in my room so we checked out and the Marriott manager was outstanding. He said that he refunded the room back to Expedia and I’m waiting for Expedia to refund my money.

We got there and the room was not ready, when we finally got to the room I check the bed and the sheets were dirty with some kind of fluid big spots( I have pictures) I have to ask for my room to be clean and the towels to be change every day because they didn’t do it. The pool was dirty . I did not like it at all, I felt so bad the 4 days I was there.

We booked three rooms, two of which were Suites with Ocean Views. Our "Ocean View Suite" on floor 2 was mainly blocked by the roof of a structure in front of the hotel (maybe parking structure) and the side windows looked into the windows of the other rooms down the hall. Very strange layout so we kept these curtains closed. The room was overpriced for what it was. The third room which was a regular King room wasn't much different from the Suite. The bathroom in our Suite looked like any other small bathroom with a small tub/shower combo. The rooms didn't feel like they had been cleaned really good. We noticed areas that needed some additional cleaning attention, especially in the bathroom. The room also felt very dark. The night staff when we checked in wasn't super friendly. However, the day staff the next day was very nice and friendly. They did have a shuttle to the cruise terminal that they can arrange for you which was nice. I will try a different hotel next time in Galveston.

If you are going for business or need WiFi don’t go here their WiFi is extremely slow. Everyone with me had connectivity issues. Even the business center WiFi was horrible. I could not even get online at some points because it was so slow. It was like this all three days.

The pool was wonderful. The bed was so comfortable. The rooms overall were nice. Will come back again soon.

The staff were wonderful!! The room was missing the couch, no seating. The bed was way to soft. The sound proofing between floors is terrible, first night the person above my room paced for hours, walking very hard until 4 in the morning. The second night was better but every time they got up and went to bathroom, I was bothered and heard. I would not stay here again.

This property does not at all look like the pictures. The WiFi is horrible. Very outdated, but they say all rooms have been remodeled.

Some AC issues. Nothing major, just noisy after we went to bed

The hotel was great. We did have a problem with the shower but it was fixed promptly. I think my only disappointment was no balconies. Most of the other hotels had them.

The entire staff!! Everyone I interacted with at the property was positive, friendly, helpful and conveyed to me that they sincerely appreciated us staying at their property. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. A big thanks to everyone on the staff.

Had an issue with no water (to shower, use the toilet, brush teeth, etc) as we were trying to check out. No one let us know the water was out, no one let us know when the water was working again. I called down to the front desk to let them know we had no water and whoever answered the phone was rude. Said we can go to another hotel to shower since the water would be out for 2 hours. ANOTHER HOTEL. Lied and said it was a water main break so they would not be giving us a discount when I asked for one. At least they could've extended the check-out time. As it ended up, it was not a water main break. No one manning the front desk when we checked out. We waited for a bit and no one showed up. We then loaded up the car, came back in and still no one to help us. Never again.

There was no room they were going to send us to another property because the were double booked.

The property was awesome I didn’t get the room I wanted but the suite I received was a great second choice it was clean and very comfortable but the check in with Ms Althea was the most pleasant and amazingly informative

Geovani was a fantastic help. The hotel was at capacity so we could not check in early but he kindly cheked and stored our bags in the back office. We needed to avoid our electronics being damgedd from being left in our hot car. Then he arranged that our bags be taken to our room once it was ready. We tipped him well. The room was spacious and very nicely furnished/clean. Breakfast is available but you must purchase it separately. Also you need to pay extra for a room with a water view. Some staff do not speak any English but all were friendly and accommodating. We ate at Salsas. Great food for the money.

Kalen made the check in process super easy! He was friendly and had tons of knowledge about the property and even recommendations for attractions and restaurants.

We had a water issue in the bathroom, water after shower came up all over the floor, including toilet area, like small flooding. We reported twice and nobody took care of that. We also report the wifi which doesn't work. Shouldn't offer free wifi on that conditions. We chose courtyard over other options even more cheaper because we thought it will be a better experience. But we were wrong. In the end, no one apologized for the inconvenience.

Great stay. Friendly staff upon checking in. Made us feel at ease. Would recommend and stay again.

At check in they asked reason for stay. We said our 44th anniversary. They then found an ocean view room for us and gave us complimentary breakfasts.

Beach time right across the street. If you cannot go up and down stairs then you should drive your car down some distance for better access. I was a little dismayed that breakfast was quite expensive and the coffee was Starbucks but at Starbucks cost. I absolutely loved the pool and the little Cabana bar. There were lots of kids in the pool and lots of laughter and fun.

Nice property right on the seawall. Gorgeous pool area. Room was tight and needed more outlets. Starbucks in the lobby was convenient.

Convenient location for the beach and port. Beautifully renovated. Wonderful day and night staff DJ the night receptionist was pleasantly helpful.

Overall our stay was absolutely wonderful, and we plan to return again for our family beach trips. The beach literally across street. It's not difficult to cross since the hotel is on the less busy side of island (much quieter dispite it still being driving distance to all the attractions) The beds were cozy with down pillows, rooms were clean and cool, and the A/C was able to keep a 66 degree sleeping environment mid summer!!! The bathroom includes a full sized shampoo, conditioner and soap dispenser! The swim area is very nice with outstanding poolside service with a smile. The pool itself is clean and a great size with plenty of room. There is an outside bathroom, changing room, shower, and towels available. The overall the service was phenomenal from the front desk through check in and out to their overall hospitality. The cons were the expensive breakfast, the noise from footsteps on upper floors, no Netflix, the mosquitos at the pool area which were unreal!!! There was a sign saying there was mosquito treatment but either the storm washed it away or it didn't work. Maybe some citronella tiki torches or a handheld fogger could be used at the pool daily. Either way we couldn't stay at the pool for long because the mosquitos were in our eyelashes and covered our skin. This would definitely deter us from staying again because the pool is one of reasons for booking. Most cons could be overlooked because of the quality of everything else but get rid of those MOSQUITOS!

Newly renovated. Very comfortable bed. Nicely decorated. Great service and the food was amazing

My rating is a balancing act between the condition of the property, the lack of amenities...and really helpful, friendly staff. Our heater/AC didn\'t work, although it was repaired before we left and we were offered another room. The shower floor didn\'t have a no-slip pad and was very slick. It\'s an accident waiting to happen. No complimentary breakfast, although there was an over-priced "bistro" that provided a lukewarm pancake. Complimentary coffee in the lobby - nope, you\'ll need to go back to your room and make it yourself. Most hotels provide lotion, but we had to request it from housekeeping. Disposable drinking cups weren\'t replaced. But - we really liked the staff.

Way too expensive for what you get. Even though they say there’s a restaurant, don’t be mislead. It’s a counter next to the pool where you go to to see a list of expensive basic food. No free coffee for guests in the morning. You have to go to the Starbucks in the lobby and pay high prices for a cup of coffee. Breakfast was expensive and a joke. We paid extra for an ocean view. We did get a view but it was across a highway.

The staff was super nice. Pool was wonderful. Bed was super comfortable. Room has a very nice view of the ocean. And the AC worked great. Only downside was no free breakfast. Breakfast for 1 and 2 coffee's was $20. But over all a pleasant experience.

The restaurant has incredible food and the guys from the bar, were professionals.
