Easy check in, clean room, parking right in front of cottage, great breakfast. We loved this guesthouse for a variety of reasons. There is a great hiking trail from the guesthouse, their dog 'Saga' was super fun and friendly and we saw the aurora from right outside our door. This is a place I would definitely recommend and look forward to staying here again.

Location Location Location The guesthouse was a wonderful location to access the hiking trail to the glacier. We stayed in one of the two-unit bunk houses. The room was small but we enjoyed it. Despite the howling winds, we were cozy. Our main goal was to hike to the glacier. We were provided with a great breakfast for hiking. It offered an array of food options that left us ready for a morning long trek. The staff was excellent. This is a no frills option that was more than adequate for what we sought. We literally left the parking lot and got on the trail for a fantastic three to four hour hike. If your goal is to enjoy a great morning on the trail, this your place.

Awesome little cottages that were very cozy and comfortable. The property is right off the ring road but tucked in a farm with a supremely friendly dog and cliffs and a river right there. The breakfast is absolutely worth it and a lovely way to start the day.

Pros:The property was easy to find and parking was right outside our door. As with many places we stayed, the room was very warm in October, so we slept wiht the window open. Cons: They DO NOT have a restaurant. Extra pillow in the room was dirty and stained with no cover. Breakfast was the most limited we had during our stay in Iceland.

For the price we paid we had very little room to put things down. Doors are falling off, no coffee pot or pan to boil water, shower has no place to put anything much less turn around. It was supposed to sleep six (we were just 2) but second room was locked. Breakfast was good.

Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Das Zimmer war sauber und hatte alles, was man für eine Übernachtung benötigt. Es gab ein Gemeinschaftsbad, dass in einem sehr guten Zustand also vor allem auch sauber war. Für Menschen die auf Komfort bedacht sind, ist die Unterkunft weniger geeignet, wer es aber gerne gemütlich hat, ist hier gut aufgehoben :-) . Die Besitzer der Unterkunft waren sehr hilfsbereit und die Kommunikation war sehr leicht, da alle englisch sprechen, auch das Personal. Das Frühstück war lecker und fand in einem sehr gemütlichen Frühstücksraum statt. Die Umgebung ist fantastisch, aber da wiederholt man sich ständig, wenn man in Island auf dem "Golden Circle" unterwegs ist. Auf dem ausgewiesenen Wanderpfaden wurden wir von einem super süßen Hütehund begleitet. Nebenbei erfährt man noch einiges über den Gletscher, dessen Ausläufer sich hinter dem Berg zurückgezogen haben. Um 1900 wäre die Wanderung, die wir unternommen haben wahrscheinlich nur mit Schneeschuhen und Schlitten möglich gewesen. Wir haben den Kurzaufenthalt sehr genossen und wussten, als wir uns wieder auf den Weg machten, dass wir beim nächsten Mal deutlich länger bleiben werden.

Absolutely awesome place to saty for a night or longer while visiting Jokulsarlon area. Clean, comfortable beds and towel warmer that is icing on the cake!! Great breakfast included with many choices. Will definitely stay here on our next trip

Our stay was enjoyable. We stayed in double room with private bathroom which was clean, comfortable, and a nice size. The breakfast each morning was very nice. The location is great especially if you like peace and quiet. Conveniently located and close to both Höfn and Jokulsarlon.

Sehr freundlicher Empfang und ein reichhaltiges Frühstück hinterlassen einen durchweg positiven Gesamteindruck.

Amazing location. Overall rooms were very nice. We had a group with 2 rooms. One room had a cracked window, the other had a saggy floor in the bathroom (was afraid we'd fall through!). Neither of those things ended up really effecting our stay though. So overall very good.

Breakfast was amazing and had great selection. The check in was easy and fast. I thought that arriving at 9pm would be late, but there was a nice man at the reception building and was expecting me. The room was amazing, the best one I’ve had since I arrived in Iceland! It was spacious, clean, modern, etc. the bathroom was large and had everything you’d need. Bed and linens were comfy and good quality. 😊. I would stay here again if I ever in the area again.

Wir übernachteten in einer der Holzhütten, diese waren etwas hellhörig. Die Einrichtung ist nicht so modern aber gemütlich. Die Häuser liegen wunderbar in der Natur und trotzdem direkt neben der Ringstraße. Das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig und abwechslungsreich.

Granja con unas vista muy agradables. Dentro de la granja se encuentran los alojamientos que son pequeñas cañas contiguas. El sitio ofrece un desayuno adecuado. Sitio silencioso y tranquilo (a no ser que te toque en la habitación de al lado gente ruidosa, porque se oye todo). Pedimos cama de matrimonio pero nos pusieron dos camas separadas, mal detalle. Parecían un poco desbordados. Si no llevas cena, hay otro hotel cerca que la ofrece. No hay nada mas alrededor.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property. The spacious, modern room and view of the river and countryside out our window was incredible. Wished we could have stayed longer! This working farm was quiet, and the family who owned the property was working the breakfast area, with a 1-yr old in tow, which made for an even homier experience.

We stayed there for one night. We booked a room with a shared bathroom but got upgraded. Our Cabin was small but lovely. One cabin equals two rooms. The walls are thin but we didnt mind. The hostess was so friendly and caring. She gave us great advice on where to go for a hidden gem. The farm around is very beautiful. There is a river next to it. Breakfast was great! Also there is a friendly dog.

My family visited in June, 2024. Expedia bungled our reservation, but the proprietor accommodated us anyway (and even tried to find us another house in the area for additional nights). We stayed in the family cabin that was clean and comfortable. We would definitely return.

Wonderful spot! Excellent location, plenty to do nearby and a very nice hike that starts right from the property. Service was exceptional and very friendly. Responsive and quick to help with any issues that arise. Would highly recommend!

We encountered no hot water at the first night as we checked in late and had to come back to the hotel in the afternoon next day to make sure there’s hot water before it ran out again. Then there was another issue in the room. The hair dryer was not working and I had to go outside with wet hair to get a working hair dryer. I sent a complaint message to the hotel but never heard back from them. The money we paid for the two nights stay is not worth for the condition. We were quite disappointed. I would not recommend this hotel.
We encountered no hot water at the first night as we checked in late and had to come back to the hotel in the afternoon next day to make sure there’s hot water before it ran out again. Then there was another issue in the room. The hair dryer was not working and I had to go outside with wet hair to get a working hair dryer. I sent a complaint message to the hotel but never heard back from them. The money we paid for the two nights stay is not worth for the condition. We were quite disappointed. I would not recommend this hotel.

This guesthouse was very accommodating along our Ring Road trip. The rooms were nice and clean. The views around the property are nice. There are sheep hanging out and a dog with one eye that likes to fetch sticks. Breakfast was adequate. The only downside is the it is about 30 mins plus from restaurants and/or grocery store.

It is a really nice place to stay. It was easy to find, and the location is so so so beautiful. The room in big, very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was okay, simple but with a good variety. We had a great time here.

Location Location Location The guesthouse was a wonderful location to access the hiking trail to the glacier. We stayed in one of the two-unit bunk houses. The room was small but we enjoyed it. Despite the howling winds, we were cozy. Our main goal was to hike to the glacier. We were provided with a great breakfast for hiking. It offered an array of food options that left us ready for a morning long trek. The staff was excellent. This is a no frills option that was more than adequate for what we sought. We literally left the parking lot and got on the trail for a fantastic three to four hour hike. If your goal is to enjoy a great morning on the trail, this your place.

Awesome little cottages that were very cozy and comfortable. The property is right off the ring road but tucked in a farm with a supremely friendly dog and cliffs and a river right there. The breakfast is absolutely worth it and a lovely way to start the day.

What an incredible location to spend the night. The mountains in the background and the ocean out front. The cabin was very clean, the beds were comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was generous with gluten free options available upon request.

Guesthouse Skálafell was a wonderful place to stay! It was a bit remote but worked for us after visiting the glacier lagoon. The land around the guesthouse was absolutely beautiful and there were hiking trails close by. Staff was fantastic and very friendly. We would absolutely return.

Our stay was enjoyable. We stayed in double room with private bathroom which was clean, comfortable, and a nice size. The breakfast each morning was very nice. The location is great especially if you like peace and quiet. Conveniently located and close to both Höfn and Jokulsarlon.

We stayed here for two nights so that we could do a glacier and ice cave hike, and a glacier lagoon boat trip at Jokulsarlon. The guesthouse was in an amazing setting close to the mountains. The cabins were clean and very comfortable. The included continental breakfast was excellent. It would have been nice if they'd offered a dinner option too, but the owner was able to recommend the restaurant at the nearby Hotel Smyrlabjorg. We ate there both nights and the food was amazing. We were also lucky enough to see the northern lights both nights right from the porch outside our cabin. I would definitely recommend staying here if your are visiting the Jokulsarlon lagoon or doing the ring road.

Pros:The property was easy to find and parking was right outside our door. As with many places we stayed, the room was very warm in October, so we slept wiht the window open. Cons: They DO NOT have a restaurant. Extra pillow in the room was dirty and stained with no cover. Breakfast was the most limited we had during our stay in Iceland.

We stayed there for one night. We booked a room with a shared bathroom but got upgraded. Our Cabin was small but lovely. One cabin equals two rooms. The walls are thin but we didnt mind. The hostess was so friendly and caring. She gave us great advice on where to go for a hidden gem. The farm around is very beautiful. There is a river next to it. Breakfast was great! Also there is a friendly dog.

Liked our cabin . Small but utilitarian since we spent most of our time exploring . Perfect location off Hwy 1, Ring Road, 30 mins to the ice lagoon , 60-70 mins to the national park and only 20 mins to a larger outpost town .
