Friendly staff, clean room, breakfast good, the made to order waffle was delicious, bagels cream cheese, scrambled eggs. Orange juice, muffins, cereal. They have an.italian restaurant attached, authentic family recipes. Excellent. Really liked walking from.our room to the restaurant for dinner. Full bar.

Stayed here for a family wedding and found the restaurant on the facility to be one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever eaten at Marcello and his staff were friendly. The place is cute and quaint and well taken care. Definitely the best value in the Bay Area and Marin County.

Overall good value, pleasant and helpful employees, parking adequate but difficult to use.

We like that it had a full size fridge and microwave to have kids snacks , easy check in and that they are pet friendly

This hotel was generally a good value for the cost. However, I am an elderly woman and was assigned a room on the second floor. The property has no elevator so I was obliged to lug my suitcase up a flight of stairs to get to my room.

We enjoyed our stay here during the last week in July. The front desk staff was very courteous and friendly. We stayed in room 14 and it was very quiet. We had daily housekeeping service. The complimentary breakfast in the restaurant included eggs, bagels with cream cheese, blueberry muffins, boxed cereals, coffee, and juice. Waffles are available upon request. Parking was conveniently available directly in front of our room. The room rate was very reasonable compared to others in the area. We would definitely stay there again. eggs service.

It’s a real shame that the pool facilities is completely not existence any longer. It would’ve really been nice to be able to use the pool facilities.

The room floors were dirty enough to stain our socks. But the absolute worst part was that there was a MILDEWED coffee packet in the coffee pot. Which means that it hadn't been cleaned in DAYS!

The room appeared to be pretty clean overall as well as the grounds. Despite this, the room just kinda felt a little on the dingy side- there were a few cockroaches and a few unidentifiable bugs in the bathroom and a big spider on the ceiling that dropped down onto my bed- thank God I’d left the lamp on at night and saw it. The room phone was sticky and the TV didn’t work. I didn’t need the TV, but it would be nice to have that in order if you stay there. There was not much breakfast selection (hard boiled eggs, one bagel, muffins, over ripe bananas…small cereal boxes but no milk or bowl and I had to ask for a plate- I didn’t realize until I was leaving that you can order waffles- they seemed really unprepared. The orange juice was okay. The maids were friendly but kept encouraging me to leave- even though it was 9:30am- and check out time was Noon- I assume they wanted to get done for the day. This is really close to my daughter’s new college so very convenient, but I think enough things added up that I likely won’t stay there again. It was one of the most affordable places in the vicinity and did its job on giving me a night’s rest- but it can use some attention and upgrades.

First, the good: Bed was clean and comfortable. Overall facility was clean and quiet and room was clean. Bathroom fixtures were updated. Less than good: The room would greatly benefit from a coat of paint. Not just a few marks—it’s really worn-looking.

The place was not renovated since the 60's, it smells bad, don't be fooled by the photos. The floor was dirty and if you walk bare foot your legs will become black from dirt, the chair was ripped, so are the towels and curtains, the bathroom faucet was broken, the porcelain was worn and pounded. The furniture is very old and smelly. The breakfast included nothing but the worse scrambled eggs and a bad coffee. With all that one would expect a nice treatment from the crew, but they are not friendly at all.

There were bed bugs. The upholstered chair in the room was covered with stains. The room smelled bad. Checkin guy was unfriendly. Checkout guy was very nice. Gave me a refund and some driving tips.

Especially based on my last couple of stays, this was disappointing. My "non-smoking" room had definitely been smoked in by previous guests and this was not just evident in the smoke smell within the room. There were nicotine stains and a burn in the bed spread, the carpet was stained, and there were several burn holes in both curtains. One of the curtain rods was barely still attached to the fasteners. Both the body wash and shampoo in the shower were completely empty. Breakfast still hasn't improved. Truly reconsidering having this be one of my go-to motels for works trips.

There were cockroaches. Made me so terrified and grossed out to sleep. Needs better cleaning , and services. There was a sticker on the toilet to keep it closed so they probably know about their cockroach problems. Super disappointed and won’t be back.

The room was clean, and location was easy to find off the freeway. We would definitely stay here again. The only issue was the room above us was very, very noisy late into the night.

Very worn down. Relatively clean but rust stains all over the sink and ceiling. Mold and lots of ants in the shower some even on the bed

The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The bathroom and bedding clean. There were globs of something sticky on bedside table. The floor was sticky and left a black sticky residue on my shoes. The upholstery on the kitchen chairs was worn, stained and appeared filthy

Convenient location but a bit run down. Room was clean but the rooms need an upgrade. Dresser was missing a handle, chair had leather peeling off the top, telephone on the desk doesn’t work. Carpets outside on the walkway upstairs are old and faded.

This motel is actually great for the price. It's in a good location if you have a car, with easy access to all of Marin County, and to San Francisco. The rooms are definitely dated, but very large. Great shower. Rooms have fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, blow-dryer, etc. Good air conditioning.

Internet felt slow to me. Housekeeping, Breakfast and Parking are alright. The AC and Heater can be better. Can we also get plastic ice bucket instead of paper.

This is an old property. It has been barely adequately maintained. The door to the room had a gap around it. The shower didn't work properly. There was no soap or shampoo in the shower dispensers. The sink drained very slowly.

Good price for short stay, but outside window wouldn't lock, A/C barely worked, bathroom fan sounded like it was about to fall apart (very noisy), sink stopper was lying in a corner on the bathroom floor, bathroom walls and ceiling were disintegrating, bedroom carpet, mattress shape and furniture looked 40 years old. Having said that, the room and bathroom were clean (although smelled a bit moldy). I liked that the room had a mini-frig, but this property is in serious need of a facelift and upgrade...explains the low price. The on-site cafe closed at 8:30 pm (Friday), so when I arrived that evening, it was 5 min too late. The breakfast on Sunday was minimal, continental, and without things like hot water/tea, peanut butter....no protein to be found. Eek...this restaurant needs new, creative management!

Some updating should be done. Property is dated.

We were first put into a room in the back of the hotel - which is facing the 101 freeway and we could not handle the noise. The next morning I went in and asked if we could be moved to the front of the hotel. The woman was very understanding and immediately arranged for another room. That room was so much more quiet! The rooms are nice, clean and comfy. Great showers and nice thick towels!

Our stay was good. The clerk at check in was very nice. The bed mattress was very old and the bed squeaked. It was comfortable enough though.

I’ve stayed at Villa Inn, three times, in the past. This time, my experience was much worse. My neighbors directly above me were partying until 1am for 3 nights in a row. Also, during most nights, I had a terrible WiFi reception in my room. Otherwise, room was clean, maid service was pretty responsive, and front desk staff were very nice. Continental breakfast was okay.

Did not like the noisy freeway and train noise

Room was surprisingly quiet for being located between busy roads. Continental breakfast was fairly basic but nicely laid out. Excellent staff, very nice & prompt. Bed frame made a bit of noise every time you got up & down, but otherwise very clean & comfortable enough for us. Would stay here again

This place was okay for an overnight stay. The breakfast was good. The guy at check in was sullen and unfriendly. The walls and ceiling had weird stains and I feel like someone needs to go in there and sponge them down. No one wants to see brown stains on the wall.

This is an older hotel - kinda feels like visiting my grandma. That said, the rooms are spacious, the folks are super friendly. If you need 5-star, go elsewhere. If you want friendly and affordable with good amenities, stay here. I stay here every time I travel to a Bay Area race.

I asked the front desk to have a room with no one above me, as i had not slept in 24 hours. She gave me a room and I was woken up 2 hours later with stomping above me. I was given another room, but i had to move all my stuff and I was so exhausted and sleep deprived. Very poor planning on their part, especially as the place had very few people staying there.

Excellent and well-priced little hotel conveniently located in San Rafael. Just off 101 but not close enough to hear any freeway noise. Nice people.

Perfect stay, the room is very clean and has all the amenities, designed really well... very quiet and safe area, we were able to walk to downtown San Rafael...

Area around is not great. There is train tracks behind the property.

I found the space adequate- simple and basic and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Nice shower and tile work in bathroom. Fridge and microwave were really nice to have. Fairly quiet for a weekend. Excellent convenient location to downtown San Rafael.

We spent a week at Villa Inn while we visited family at Christmas, and it worked out perfectly for us. 24 hour staffing at the office, friendly and accommodating service throughout, continental breakfast, and a convenient central location. Highly trvommmrnf.

I've stayed here a few times before. Check in was the easiest it's been, so that was nice. It was also a last minute booking. I got the corner room and it's actually the biggest room they have, I think. It was very nice. Too bad I literally only slept and left. Clean. They started using the dispensers in the shower, which I appreciate. The diner is open again for breakfast but even for a free continental breakfast it is super disappointing. At the very least it would be nice to have some tea options, outside of coffee and orange juice. But would stay again.

The rooms were clean, and overall location felt safe. The only bummer was that the adjacent restaurant was closed during our stay, and as a family that was part of why we booked our rooms here so on our arrival after driving all day we didn't have to drive further to find dinner. Good news is, the person that checked us in said it was opening back up the next week.

The room is clean, beds and pillows are comfortable. All you need for a night or five without spending a fortune on the city. We were only there for a night but would gladly spend more here if needed. The included breakfast was very good as a bonus!

Limited breakfast and the AC in the bedroom took quite a while to cool down the room.

The staff was wonderful. The room was great. But I must mark the hotel down for breafast. This may be unfair since the main restaurant is closed for repairs. But "breakfast included" is misleading when all that was available was cereal, bananas, and hard boiled eggs.

This is a typical roadside motel, the staff was very friendly though and everything was copacetic. We were hungry so we went to the restaurant attached to the Inn, Cafe Bellini. It was unbelievable! The menu was fabulous and everything we tried was delicious and amazing.

Great little hotel- good service and clean. Breakfast could improve by adding a waffle maker or pancake maker If you stay more then a night breakfast same stuff daily and not much choice Would stay again
