Rooms were big, the beds and furniture are unique pieces check in was done over the phone so it’s quick but you lose that personal touch, but overall for the money the place is good, it’s not a glorious stay and parking can be difficult but for what they’ve got they make it work

It was great with the exception as to no parking when we returned to the motel at 11pm. We had to park next door at Honey and wake up super early to move our vehicle so we would not get towed. Line parking spaces would be great as some vehicles took up multiple spaces. The water pressure in the shower could improve with a different shower head too.

We enjoyed our one night stay at the Scarborough Inn. We chose it for the convenient location to many of the Outer Banks communities. We felt comfortable from our warm reception at the office and throughout our stay. We were accommodated in an upstairs unit across the parking lot that was clean, cozy, and attractively decorated. The bed was comfortable and we appreciated having the refrigerator and microwave. We would definitely stay again.

The only thing I had an issue with was, there is a main building and then 3 out buildings and the buildings aren’t marked with letters as we were told to go to building C 2nd floor. We found the room but it would be nice if the main office had a small map showing you where to go. Just minor confusion especially after driving a long distance arriving at night. Other than that the room is very nice, clean and comfortable. Restaurants within walking distance, parking is open and the grounds are clean too. Now that I know the lay out of the property, I would definitely come back here to stay.

We loved our room with the canopy bed, and antique looking furniture. It was a great location as most of the places we visited were very close to Manteo. We had a fridge, microwave and nice grassy yard space.

Scarborough was a pleasant, clean, and quiet place to stay. It had a fridge and microwave, so you couldn't cook there. It was average size, but we made due. It's on the main road in OBX, so very close to everything, very handy. The manager, Dill, was extremely friendly and helpful. He was very accommodating. It was a nice place to stay plus reasonably priced, we were very satisfied.

Cons: Kiosk check-in is very impersonal, inconvenient (space is small), and loud! Also we didn't like that we had to rate our remote agent while she watched. The floor in our room was filthy! And the bath/shower could have been cleaner as well. Finally, be sure to check the angle of the shower head before you start your shower to avoid a massive mess on the floor.

A quaint little spot right on the 64. It certainly shows its age, but that's really the appeal. It's clean, comfy, well taken care of, and has everything you need (even provides an air fryer for you fishers out there)! And indeed, you'll need your fishing gear ready, for the beach is not too far from this location. You're also near by a ton of great food options, with a Piggly Wiggly grocery not too far down the street!

No employees on site. Room keys left in an unsecured drawer. Room was dirty. Bed comforter not clean. No vacuum marks on the carpet. Dusty. Black mold in the grout of the bathroom shower. Unusable toilet, tank components disassembled and water turned off. Did not stay in the room and had to find other accommodations.

One of my favorite places to stay in OBX. You get far more than what you pay for. The staff are very nice. It’s quiet and comfortable, my rooms have always been pristine (the cleaning lady who speaks only Spanish deserves a reward for her unsung hard work). I recommend this place to anyone.

This hotel is a great value. The room was spotless. Check in was a little interesting, a note in the lobby said to call a phone number for check in. The first attempt to call went to voicemail. But about 5 minutes later I was able to get a hold of someone and check in. I’ve stayed here for years, I hope this place can stay as good as it was in the past, even if I had to pay 20% more I would to keep this place as an option.

I was incredibly disappointed with this stay. I can deal with an automated attendant kiosk although I'm concerned about billing when I received a call to confirm that I had actually checked out when having used the automated kiosk as directed. What warranted my rating of one star was the overwhelming smell of the room. Humid, moldy, stinky. Certainly didn't help that the air conditioner was off and the room was a hot box when I went arrived. Off. Not low.. It took hours for it to cool off and there was no fan. The brown carpet was heavily stained and I wore my shoes while walking around. I had a late arrival and just needed to sleep, otherwise I absolutely would have found another room.

The property differed from the advertising. For the price it’s enough space and amenities. I wasn’t looking for much just to lay my head down for a night. The part that needed some attention was the AC unit and dehumidifier needing the mold cleaned out. Additionally, the room has been smoked in and filtered into the AC unit and dehumidifier. This left my clothes and myself smelling horrible after the visit. Room number 4 specifically.

Everything was very clean, owners were very nice. My only complaint is that I couldn’t lock the door with a secondary latch, and the extra room we had didn’t have air conditioning. But other than that it was a great stay!

The property is very quaint and appealing. However the room was not very comfortable. The bed was way too high. I had to use a chair to get on it. A simple foot stool would have been nice. The room was a bit unique in its set up.

Basic older motel. Pros: great location. Cons: traffic and ac noise. (I was in an annex room, not main building.). Furniture and bathroom older. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep it’s good, but not so good if you spend any time in the room. Front Porch coffee shop down the street is awesome.

I was very pleasantly surprised at this property. Very clean and tastefully decorated. The patio furniture outside of the room was of very good quality and very comfortable. We spent much of the evening hanging out outside the room in these chairs. Someone has put some thought into the little details and it shows. I also loved the location. I would not hesitate to recommend this place and hope to return in the future .

This was probably the worst stay we’ve ever had at a hotel. Check in was different (you check in at a kiosk with a remote person) but was ok. Our room was #1 and had holes in the wall where possibly some things used to hang. The bed was about 40 inches high with no way to climb in. The mattress was a brick as were the pillows. The floors had paint all over them. You could tell where they had closed up doorways with nailed in plywood. It was very cute outside so we were shocked when we saw our room. Would not recommend to anyone.

Checked in using 24/7 kiosk about 10 pm after long drive to visit the outer banks for a day trip. Person on teleprompter failed to tell me my room was in adjacent cottage. After searching in the rain, I found it. Had to put my belongings down on wet doorstep to enter room. Went to car to retrieve more belongings, my key stopped working. I had to go back to the office to summon person on kiosk to issue another key. Three keys eventually had to be issued. I was asked to return later to kiosk upon being notified by cell phone to sign something. I informed them that I was tired and was preparing to go to sleep. I could sign whatever they needed in the morning. The person(s) living upstairs loft ran, stomped and jumped well until past midnight so that I could not sleep. Even return taps from the ceiling on my end did not quell the noise. Also, I had to take a bird bath standing in the shower the following morning because the shower head wasn't working. I got very little sleep and could not take a proper shower. When checking out at kiosk late morning, there was no mention about signing anything and was requested to leave key in a basket that was not there. Service was very impersonal. I had a long day head of driving back home. I do not recommend

Check in was on a screen with an employee working remote from the Philippines. Check in was slow and non-personal. Supposedly, a manager was onsite. Never saw “him.” Housekeeping did not know English, nor did we understand Spanish. Bathroom needs mildew removal spray. Some of the steps were rotted. The inn needs repair. We did not like the fact that there was no staff on duty. We had to use a kiosk to check in which was very time consuming. We also needed more towels and bath clothes and had to use the kiosk again. The room was slightly outdated in our opinion for the cost of the stay especially during the off season. We are not likely to stay there again.

On the instructions we received, we were to check in at 3:00 p.m. No one was there. We waited and then texted them. No response. Finally, they did respond and said they would be there "shortly." Check in and check out was a kiosk. A person appeared on the screen. The voice was off to the picture on the screen. Hard to understand a person with a strong accent. Checkout was horrible. They had no record of us . We were in room 15 but she kept telling me someone else was in that room. I tried asking if she had the right hotel then the screen went black and it told me our meeting was over. She never came back and no one answered me. Since I had already paid I left. Not a pleasant experience.

There was a disconnect between this property and Expedia computer reservation systems. Expedia showed rooms available yet when I arrived for check-in I was told by the check-in kiosk (operator in the Phillipines) hotel was sold out (with only 2 cars in parking lot). Very disappointed with check-in time (10 minutes) having to talk with kiosk. About ready to walk out.

The Scarborough Inn looks nice enough from the outside. Like many of the small inns in this town, it has an electronic kiosk that guests are supposed to use. Unfortunately, however, the kiosk was out of order. So I wasn’t able to check in. And, unlike the inn where I ultimately stayed, the Scarborough Inn didn’t have any staff on location to assist guests even though it was still in the afternoon when I tried to check in. To add insult to injury, instead of promptly refunding the money for the room that I wasn’t able to use through no fault of my own, the Scarborough Inn decided to contest my request for a refund. I cannot recommend making a reservation at this establishment.

This used to be a superb little family run hotel. Now they have no manager on site. The new management consists of a kiosk where you virtually check in with a person located in the Philippines who dispenses a key from the kiosk. The key card failed three times, and so you went back again and again just to enter the room, identify yourself again, and get another key card. Your basic nightmare in a clean, well located hotel. Get a manager.

Once in the room, we found it pleasant, clean and comfortably warm. Motel is easily accessible to downtown Manteo. Darrel's restaurant and McDonald's are across the street. Our biggest complaint is the check in process at Scarborough is done totally by computer. There is no personal contact. Anyone interested in staying at this place should be aware in advance. Our check-in was adequate. But our checkout was non-existent. We tried to checkout about 9am. The computer was not functioning. The phone number on the door went to voicemail. So we left our room keys in the room and bugged out.

Great place for a quick overnight trip. Very easy to hop over to OBX for the day. Later that evening we walked across the street to dinner. We will definitely stay here again! Thanks Dill ! Tip: Please note their check-in hours and call during this time if you plan to arrive late.

The Inn was very, very clean and that is a huge quality when staying somewhere. The check-in was weird because it was a kiosk. I did not like my ID being scanned and I think we should have been aware of check-in process. No staff onsite and our Wi-Fi didn't work with password until an hour before we checked out. Great location, you can walk to get food, ABC store close and 711 right beside the inn. I loved the antique furniture. I will definitely come back.

We enjoyed our one night stay at the Scarborough Inn. We chose it for the convenient location to many of the Outer Banks communities. We felt comfortable from our warm reception at the office and throughout our stay. We were accommodated in an upstairs unit across the parking lot that was clean, cozy, and attractively decorated. The bed was comfortable and we appreciated having the refrigerator and microwave. We would definitely stay again.

Fairly quiet area and the sleep was good. TV wasn't much but we weren't interested in using it much anyway. No closet for hanging clothes but plenty of drawer space. Bed was extremely comfortable, if a bit high. Staff was extremely nice and accommodating. This location is great for being in the middle of OBX. Plenty of restaurants in the area with good food.

We loved our room with the canopy bed, and antique looking furniture. It was a great location as most of the places we visited were very close to Manteo. We had a fridge, microwave and nice grassy yard space.

Scarborough was a pleasant, clean, and quiet place to stay. It had a fridge and microwave, so you couldn't cook there. It was average size, but we made due. It's on the main road in OBX, so very close to everything, very handy. The manager, Dill, was extremely friendly and helpful. He was very accommodating. It was a nice place to stay plus reasonably priced, we were very satisfied.

It's clean, comfy, well taken care of, and has everything you need (even provides an air fryer for you fishers out there)! And indeed, you'll need your fishing gear ready, for the beach is not too far from this location. You're also near by a ton of great food options, with a Piggly Wiggly grocery not too far down the street!
