Better than expected considering some of the unfavourable reviews. Very accommodating for my earlier than check in time arrival. Retro feel. Very clean bathroom with complimentary toiletries. Fluffy towels. Secure blocks of rooms. Pet friendly status is appreciated. Parking lot pavement needs some repairing.

The place is what you would expect from an old Motel. The room smelled a bit funky but clean… as it could be. Small things could be fixed up with little effort like fix hole in drywall, get some bath towels that aren’t wore torn with holes in them… it is Xmas week so I get the price being up buuut really not worth what charging. Good hot shower and unit was nice and warm. Go into gas station fir check in.

The stay was fairly average. I wouldn’t recommend it for families with kids, as there was a noticeable smell of weed. The room had some bugs, and both the room and washroom were quite small. After the gas station closes, there’s no staff available on-site, which can be inconvenient. The security deposit was also relatively high, and the room lacked sufficient lighting. On a positive note, the location is close to a beautiful beach and park, both within walking distance. Parking is available just in front of the building.

The motel is very well located. Near the lake, gas station is right there along with a very good restaurant. The only part that was a turn off was the $200 damage deposit which was returned on our card 2 days later. We stayed in over 15 motels in our 3 weeks trip to the Maritimes from Calgary and it was the only motel that needed a damage deposit.

Paintwork in room 21 was grubby, it needed cleaning. The carpet was dirty and stained. There was a fitting on the bath top that was was black. Wall paper was hanging off the wall. No tissues despite there being a holder and we were told they had none, although they owned a convenience store on site. Bed coverlets were worn and tired. It was very much overpriced for the quality of accommodation. It needed a complete renovation. On reflection, it was worth only one star

Very dirty , bad smell, dirty stains on the carpet, tile grout in the shower was all black and looks moldy, broken window handle so if you open it then have to push it from outside to close. Very noisy. It needs a big time renovation

It was handy and easy to get to where we wanted to go. Staff was very unfriendly. Beds were old and lumpy. Crank broke on window so it wouldn’t open. Not the cleanest. Only one face cloth but two towels. Step in shower was real nice.

I liked nothing. They wanted 200$ security deposit. I asked to be shown the room so I can see what the security covered. The room(1) W smelt of filth n urine. I asked for a spray the guy brought a fe breeze bottle with a watery substance and said that’s all they have. There was a bed, a huge tv, and wooden table n chair I think the bed had a faded much used duvet and bedding. I had to ask if bugs were a problem couldn’t help it. I left! I went to another not much better; but sleepable. The room(1)

The hotel was good but the only problem we had was no AC in the room. We had it out in the hallway. It was nice and cold out there but not in the room. We had to buy a fan so we could sleep the 2nd night. First night wasn’t comfortable. The pillows are very thin. We asked for another set. Otherwise everything else was good. Don’t think we would stay there again knowing the rooms aren’t cool

When I arrived, they tried to charge me more money than my Expedia booking had been for. When. I showed them the price on my Expedia confirmation, they told me they had raised the prices without notifying me, and would not honor the price I pre-booked for. So I canceled my reservation and left. Weekend vacation in Kenora ruined.

The room was big enough and the bed was comfortable. The fridge and microwave worked fine. Coffee was provided with an in room coffee maker. They had a note on the toilet to lift the handle after flushing to keep the toilet from running. What really irked me was when we checked out. My wife went in to give them the key and get the receipt. The room had been booked months ago at a rate and she was told that was the old rate and was charged $30, plus taxes, more than what the room was booked for. I went back in and after a discussion with the person on duty they relented and issued a refund. Later that day I followed up with Expedia regarding the matter. Expedia contacted the motel and confirmed a refund was being issued for the extra change.

First of all, we booked a room with a stove/oven - like the one on the picture. But when we got our room, it didn't have a stove. We were planning to prepare some meals and this was not possible. Then on the last day, we booked an extra night. But when we got back to our room, all our things were moved to another room -- we were not told they were going to do this. All our personal belongings were left out and they had shoved everything in dirty bags and moved to the other room. When we complained they said they had to servive the room. They offered no apology The man in the front dest was rude. The place was so run down and placed like this should not be allowed to operate and take money from customers.

We did not stay at the Lake-Vu motel. My daughter and I got a phone call, while we were onroute, letting us know that the hotel is not staffed for late check-ins, so they could not provide us with accommodations for the night. Fortunately, we were able to find other accommodations.

The room was nice. Single traveller. First time in Kenora. The water is close by, just a 5 minute walk down the road. The convenient store, gas bar and restaurant are right there. Easy fill up and go for me. I enjoyed my stay.
