Unicoi State Park & Lodge

The hotel is very close to Hellen, Ga. It is inside of a state park with lots of hiking trails, fishing, and a zip line course available.

Great view, updated room with all the comforts. Microwave in common area with wonderful seating indoor and outdoors also thru out the Lodge and all the buildings. Top notch breakfast included with eggs bacon sausage biscuits gravy melons fruits and all the breads all with great views and enormous seating areas. There is a small walk from parking to the 4 lodges but all are accessible with out steps.

The area was beautiful and there was no shortage of outdoor adventures for every fitness level. Whether it was just enjoying the fresh air and scenery, hiking the numerous trails, shopping in Helen or trying the ziplines and watersports. We did not like that the tavern hours and shuttle hours were subject to change without notice. We did not bring our own food because we stayed at the lodge and had planned on visiting the tavern or restaurants in the area. We found out the hard way that without reliable transportation, if you did not plan well by packing some of your own food, you may not be able to get meals on some days or certain hours of the day.

Clean room and spacious. We had view of the woods. Large windows.However, no microwave in the room, you need to walk to where the ice/ vending machine is to warm anything. Only one chair by the table, 2 cant eat their sandwich together. We are in the 2 queen bed room, white covers, afriad to put unoack other suitcase in bed, might stain the cover! Ample parking, a little walk where your building is. Breaksfast buffet is reasonably priced with lots of selection.There is an Italian restaurant and Tavern with good selection in menu. Hiking trails there, zip lining and a short drive to main street in Helen. Quiet and relaxing, away from the noise.

The property was under construction, so it was difficult to get around, it was difficult to find the room the first night, we were soaked (it was raining).

Fantastic. Amenities and activities on-site. Beds were comfortable. Rooms are on the small side but adequate.

My wife and I enjoyed the atrium area in our building with the fireplace and big screen TV. The seating was comfortable. It was nice to have a place other than our room to hang out and watch some TV.

The hotel has beautuful views and is close to town and all it has to offer. It has zip lines/ropes course on site. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the beds were comfortable. The biggest downfall was that there was really nothing to do for little kids. I found the pictures to be somewhat deceiving. You have to drive to the beach area. All in all, it was a good experience for the price.

Clean but no elevators. We were in the second floor and the room was modern and clean. Nice breakfast the next day in restaurant and then we zip lined ! Nice property!

This place is beautiful and I highly recommend staying here. We will definitely be back! Unicoi is quiet and away from the the high traffic that Helen can be. They offer a complementary shuttle to Helen so you don’t need to worry about parking. Peaceful place to stay!

Rooms are not clean. Bugs in room. Shower floor was dirty. Sheets had stains on them.

Clean room!

When we arrived to our room we immediately noticed that it had not been cleaned. There was dust and dead bugs on the floor and near the bed. During our stay there was a light storm, and the facility lost power for over an hour. And due to the storm we discovered a leak coming from the roof and they did nothing about it. Overall the worst experience we’ve ever had. Absolutely do NOT recommend.

Enjoyed our stay very clean

THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN AND WELL KEPT. STAFF WAS KIND AND FRIENDLY. MY WIFE AND I ARE BOTH IN OUR MID 80'S AND WE WERE A LITTLE SPOILED. THANKS GUYS YOU WERE GREAT.

Everything seemed great! The only negative that I found was the towels were stained. Overall we had a great experience!

Amazing views!! Very clean and gave you toiletries and bottles of water. We only stayed one night but I wish we stayed longer to enjoy more of it. Bed was soft and comfortable. Only issue was the fitted sheet kept coming off the corners of the bed.

We're cockroaches all over the room killed 3 were 5 more on the walls

Received room service only two of our four day stay. Housekeeping did not service our room for the last two days. Bed was not made, fresh towels were not provided, trash was not removed and no sign of any cleaning in the room for those days. Roaches and other bugs were present in the room in the evening. Maintenance provided no repellent or assistance in eliminating the bug problem. We were given an option to move to another room, but that was not convenient for us. Our room was in a building with no elevator making it difficult for us to carry our luggage to our room. As seniors, we should have been given the opportunity to be assigned to a building with an elevator. The best part of our stay was the breakfast. Wonderful food. Location of the lodge was convenient to Helen, Georgia, where we initially wanted to stay, but rooms were not available during our stay.

The Lodge rooms were very clean and updated. The staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Great property and was everything I was looking for. The only downfall for me was the WiFi was very poor but I wasn’t there to spend a lot of time on my phone.

The stay was nice for the purpose. The lodge is very charming. The room was comfortable and the amenities were nice. The floor was not mopped, but it was clean. The shuttle to town is not 100% reliable and the restaurants and front desk are understaffed, but the staff there was pleasant. There was a day when we wanted to sleep in but the construction of a deck right next to us started before 8 and it was loud. Bring a sound machine, especially if you are around the common areas.

Beautiful state park, quiet, trees were lovely. Great front desk staff. Room was significantly over priced, not the value I was looking for. Great updated room. Did not include breakfast. No elevator for luggage. Won't stay here again but was local to Helen.

Wonderful stay! Beautiful property, GREAT beds, awesome views and an amazing staff! We met some great people while enjoying the fire pit. Manager at Smith tavern was phenomenal. Recommend and we look forward to our next visit!

The staff is unhelpful. The walls are almost paper thin. We could hear everything what was said next door and in the hallway. We asked to be moved. The room we had faced the parking lot. The rest of the room faced the moutains or trees. The manager told me to take or leave. They dont sell scenery. If we wanted to leave they would charge us anyway.

The lodge’s bedrooms were quite acceptable, downside is there is no door to bathroom toilet area. No privacy from other guests in the room. The website hours were different to the tavern’s opening hours; no food available between 1:30 and 4pm. The food in the Tavern restaurant is not good; service is exceptionally slow. We waited 30 mins for the drinks order and over an hour and a half for food. Advice is not to eat there as the service, food and prices are not good. The prices are way too high for what you get!

It was not as great as I thought it would be. I think the website oversells the lodge. It says there are two restaurants but there is really only a type or sports bar type of place with a very limited menu. The lodge staff definitely is not friendly - almost every interaction I had with them, they had the demeanor of "I am talking to you only because I have to, but I would much rather not talk to someone like you". Not to mention there was an issue with a charge on my account and I was told I needed to speak to the manager, Susan Baxter, but she was in a meeting and would not be out for another thirty minutes. I waited a full 45 before I called but she was still in her meeting and she would call me back. Did Susan ever call me back? Of course not! Whatever the reason was is irrelevant because the fact is when a guest has a serious financial issue on their account and they are told someone will get in touch with them, someone should follow through. The saving grace was park itself, the zipline experience, Anna Ruby Falls, the hiking trails, and the kayaking. The staff members from the zipline (Dustin and Ethan), the lady working in the gift shop at Anna Ruby Falls, and the staff at the Visitor Center for the kayaking were so helpful, nice, and made up for what others lacked & I really appreciated them. Side note, the town of Helen turned out to be a "sundown town" and the people were NOT shy about letting it be known either.

They said they doubled booked us so no king available. Gave us a very small queen room and re-ran charges that were much more than we had already paid. Credited the difference, but still charged for a king room, not the queen room we had no choice about. The property was in nice shape, but had none of the recreational amenities advertised, only a fire pit. Undersold a visit into town (Helen) for dinner. It was bustling and the best part of the stay. Overall, a pretty property, but not as advertised and lacking proper front desk management. Disappointed and overcharged.

I had a reservation through Expedia for two nights arriving on Thanksgiving and when arrived they claim Expedia never sent them the reservation and there were no rooms available. They had a spare room not used often that could be clean but it will take hours. I didn’t felt welcome so I left the property and the town immediately.

The accommodations were great and the entire staff was excellent - courteous, anticipatory, and always willing to offer advice or help. Thank you. Coming to Unicoi State Park and Lodging has always been my pleasure. I’ll see you again!

Great staff

We came to Helen for Memorial day weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lodge. Everyone was super nice and helpful. The room and public areas were very clean. There was one person, though, who really made our stay amazing, and that was Rhonda! She was the lodge's shuttle driver, and she was wonderful. She was super helpful and friendly, and was always available when we called to get a ride around town. She also has some great stories about the area, and was just q pleasure to be around.

Check-in was good. I didn’t realize my room was on the 2nd floor, so I asked if they had an elevator because my disabled mother couldn’t do stairs. They only have an elevator in the main building. So the hostess looked to see if there were any ground floor rooms available and there were. She changed it for me no problem. The room was in good condition, we did have to ask for additional coffee and toilet paper for the room. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet two times. The food was good and stocked. We wish they had more tea options, but that’s just nitpicking on our end. Service was super friendly and helpful. The shuttle to Helen didn’t start running until 1pm due to under staffing, so we just took our car. Had to pay for parking. When we returned, our keys didn’t work. Found out they only set us for one day but adding the night was quick and painless. We noticed our room was not serviced overnight so we had to ask for additional towels. Check-out was super easy. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. Overall it was four out of five stars.

The power went out for hours! There was no I’m sorrys. Couldn’t check in when I was told I could. Lack of customer service!

All around good property experience from check in to check out. Upstairs has a pool table, bar and grill, plus a restaurant. Went for a night cap and the service was pretty bad though. Not greeted because the bartender seemed to be to busy yelling at her helper in the middle of the floor. Eventually the manager took our order. Besides that issue make sure you walk around and see the sights. Many beautiful spots all around

Great getaway for our anniversary. Away from the bustle of Helen, but close enough to see all the sites.

It's an older property but taken care of. Nothing luxurious. But clean and beautiful surroundings. Nice people that work there. About 10 minutes from downtown. There are things to do there like zip lines, water and beautiful hiking.

Loved Anna's Italian Kitchen and the prix fixe multicourse dinner menu. Great service. Beautiful views and quiet.

Great breakfast options and a delicious restaurant experience for dinner. All staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and the Wi-fi was free!

Lovely place. The restaurant was closed but the Tavern was open. They were short staffed so it was quite a wait. But the food was delicious and the overworked waitress was wonderful.

Property was nice and staff was nice and friendly. Food service was terrible. The restaurant was closed but not the website marketed it as open. Food service was Slooooooow! Once the food came it was good but it took about 45 minutes to get served in their tavern for dinner. The breakfast the next morning was a joke. There was no coffee no bacon no eggs on the buffet. It took 30minutes to get served coffee and just as long to get any food.

Breakfast was excellent. Fresh fruit was wonderful. Staff worked hard to make sure everything was fresh.

The rooms were fine- one of the beds the mattress slopes and needs replaced. We went to the dining room for breakfast at 9am. Buffet was only option- $16 per person. It needed replenished and the food was cold. The coffee wasn't very good either. My brother said he got better food in the mess hall in Iraq! Very disappointing. The area is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay for the most part- just the dining room. We ate the rest of our meals in Helen and Cleveland.

The buffet doesn’t offer lunch and dinner anymore and the breakfast they did have was not good and not worth $40 for the three of us. Had the same exact breakfast at hotels for free.
