Harry and his wife were both accommodating and polite ppl. My only complaint was slight discomfort with a soft bed, I am use to firm types.location is very close (3-4 blocks away from main shoreline strip with a Starbucks and decent next door Mexican takeout place. Parking is free. But wifi very weak.

No elevator to the 2nd floor. The steps up were deteriorated. The bed was very comfortable and had a nice thick blanket on the bed. Plenty of hot water and the room was clean

Blue collar construction worker become teacher review follows. The property is old, but has a very tasteful renovation, and not just lipstick on a pig. The fascia board is all new, some 2nd story walkway supports have been added, and new anti-slip staircases were added in place of the likely circa 1960 concrete steps. New vinyl windows are in place and reduce any noises well. The interior has new carpet, paint, countertops and furniture. If I owned this property, this is exactly what I would have done with it. Price was affordable, service was spartan but totally sufficient, and the property was clean. I love this place!

Wonderful owners Mike and his wife and staff. They treat you like family. My husband Ken and I stayed in Dec and in Jan. The rooms are always clean and cozy. I always have the best sleep there. It’s so quiet! And big beds are wonderful. Also the motel is very close to a quint little town for great local food and great ambiance, especially of a little caboose for pastry and coffee. When we come into town Northwoods Motel is the place to stay.

There was hair in the sheets! It was gross! The tv did not work and the cable wouldn’t connect after repeated tries!! Don’t stay here.

Room was not the cleanest. Stained sheets and towels. Floors had crumbs and dirt. One of the beds creaked really bad. The towels had some strange residue on them, I used them and broke out in a rash. Also woke up to bites and welts on my body both mornings. Other guests did not. Was bad enough I checked out early and ate the cost.

I had to leave early in the morning, I left the keys inside the room in a safe and secure place and locked the door so the staff can get it when i called them. Later the same day i was called and accused of not leaving keys. I was charged my deposit of 200 extra to replace locks. This place is a scam and beware of bed bugs. Room had a stench i cannot describe.

Found dirty underwear hanging in the bathroom. Room was clearly not cleaned. Staff could not understand us and we could not understand them. Ended up leaving after less than 30 mins driving around the area looking for somewhere to stay around midnight.

One of the beds in our room was wet- looked like a bottle of water had been spilled in the middle of it. We asked to change rooms, but the staff said there were no rooms available. They changed the bedding, but the water soaked through the bedding again. I called the front desk about the issue again, and at that time they stated there was another room available. Should have just transferred us to the other room in the first place. Outside of that, the experience itself wasn't bad. Motel was very old but had been remodeled, except for the bathroom.

This is a very basic motel with vinyl flooring and painted cinderblock walls. The bathroom is sort of renovated, paint and tile floor but the tub and shower surround are old. The vanity was newer. Couldn't get the tv to work, Maybe missing a remote. Bed comfortable. Power bar provided by the bed was worn out. I'll go somewhere else next time.

Good value with updated rooms and very clean. Good customer service. Only issue is the wifi/internet was too slow to do basic functions on phone/laptop. And since it is so close to border, the cell signal (AT&T) is one bar most times so no access to internet at all.

The room was fine. The staff was friendly. Thew wifi was beyond horrible and I was trying to get some work done. I had to go to Starbucks. The TV didn't work. I was there 2 night, but my room was not cleaned after the first night. Never had that happen.

One thing right off to note is that the beds are incredibly tall - I'm about 5'7 and the bed surface is about hip-height to me. If that's not a dealbreaker then you're in for a treat because on this bed I had one of the best nights of sleep in recent memory. Beyond that this place is pretty standard without a whole lot of bells and whistles. If you're someone who relies on mobility aids you might find it a little difficult to navigate this room (I stayed in a single king - they may have more accessible accommodations in other rooms, but you should definitely check before committing). The bathrooms are pretty small but the adjustable showerhead almost makes up for it. For the price and the proximity to the border crossing, you can't beat it though. It was a fantastic stay and I will definitely keep it on my list for future trips.

On our way up to Canada. Decided to stay the night in Blaine to be able to cross the border in the morning. Room was nice, only big complaint it that if you're taller than 5'6" or so, the shower head is too low

I was very pleased with the staff at first because they were very kind — the young woman in the beginning and the young man were both very helpful and polite. However, on the last day, a woman at the reception was very rude and unprofessional. I simply asked if I could leave my suitcase at the reception for one hour, but she responded in an unfriendly and disrespectful manner. This left a very negative impression at the end of an otherwise good stay.

I showed up to check in at about 8 pm. The person at the desk nodded when I said hello. He was busy copying numbers very slowly into a receipt book. He did not say "Good evening," "I\'ll help you in a few minutes," or "Please have a seat while I finish this task." He didn\'t speak at all. After five minutes I said, "I\'m here to check in." He said "yes," and went back to doing what he was doing. After ten minutes he was ready. It took another ten or fifteen minutes to check me in. He said that the computer was being slow. Checking someone in should never take twenty minutes. He silently handed me the key and that was it. This morning when I went to check out, there was no one at the desk; just a key drop box. The room itself was just fine! But because of the reception, I\'m never coming back.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and were kind enough to sort out a technical glitch (on Expedia's end). The rooms had updated furniture, but this is an older motel building so even though it's non-smoking there is still a bit of that old lingering whiff. Leaving the window open for a few hours was very helpful, and the room was otherwise clean.

Used this place for the Taylor Swift concert in Vancouver. Last exit before the border to Canada, the hotel is clean, quiet, and comfortable. The price was great and it was an EASY drive to Vancouver. We actually drove to a park and pay at Scott Road and took the train into downtown! If I was ever going to visit Vancouver again I would stay at this hotel.

This is an older motel, but the interior is very up-to-date. It is clean and neat with vinyl plank flooring that is a real step up from most carpeted rooms. The location is great with easy access to I-5 and so very close to the border crossing. Definately consider it if passing through the area!

Good motel but way overrated. Very convenient to Canadian border, just 2 minutes away. No breakfast at all, although there was a restaurant nearby. Wish beds were more comfortable
