poor recepition area. It isn't quiet during the weekend due to the bar located on top. The elevator usage by their customers should be limited to only one elevator so you don't share the service with drunk people.

Great location. Hotel, below average. Parking is outdoors, 5 blocks away from the hotel. $50 per day - this includes the hotel discount. Indoor parking around the area is cheaper. We paid for courtyard view. We had 0 view. We were on the 2nd floor and it felt like we were in a dungeon.

We chose Hotel Hugo out of five different options. In the end, our decision was based on the fact that they had a beautiful rooftop bar. We were there for three nights and were not able to visit the rooftop at all. The first night it was closed for no apparent reason, the second for a private event and the third was for weather reasons (it was about 65 degrees and completely clear when we were told that). I understand that the bar is under separate ownership but hotel guests include accommodations like this in their decision on where to stay. As such, they should be informed if the facilities will not be available for use. Other than the unavailability of the rooftop, the facility was attractive, comfortable and a good location. No complaints at all other than missing out on the beautiful rooftop bar.

This is a nice hotel that is located in a quiet neighborhood. The subway stop is a relatively short walk from the hotel. If you are driving, the parking garage is located 0.5 miles from the hotel and will cost you. The hotel offers to validate for a discount but it is not much of a discount.

Overall experience was good but somewhat disappointing. We were unable to enjoy the areas of the rooftop, both the Bar Hugo, and Azul on the Roof, as both nights we stayed they had private events. Sadly both of these were the things that made us choose this hotel in the first place, and we were unable to enjoy them as we expected. I feel that knowing in advance that these areas had reservations during our stay, would have been ideal, as we could have made the decisions to book or look for a different hotel. Additionally, there was not very good service or communication from the staff in these areas. Front desk was not welcoming or friendly. Overall an okay stay at this hotel.

On top of half the things in my room not working. They charge you $40 facility fee per night. I guess it's in the fine print. When I asked what it was they said it was for the complimentary water, Wi-Fi and printer you can use behind the front desk. It's not complimentary if they're charging $40 a day, especially for something I'm not using!

Just be careful of staying here. Almost all of the photos of the property are of the rooftop but during our stay the rooftop was booked for private events and hotel guests weren’t permitted. The hotel took no accountability for this and said that the roof is not operated by the hotel. It’s just strange they would have so many pictures marketing the roof and then tell guests they have no control of access.

Our hot water didn’t work properly either cold or scalding. Our shampoo and body wash pumps didn’t work and were locked so we couldn’t get it out. We asked if we could have them fixed twice but they never did. We also had to ask to have the included housekeeping done as they just never came. Overall, the room seemed like it wasn’t clean glass ring still there when we arrived. It felt like it was still dirty.

The staff was friendly, but overall I would not stay at this hotel again. Our room was really beat up - all the sconces shades were broken off, so it was just bare light bulbs. The blinds were broken with the broken strings hanging down. Our towels had holes in them 1 of the days, the other days the towels all had stains on them. Two days the cleaning staff took all our towels and forgot to give us new towels, so we had to call the front desk to get additional towels. Overall, a pretty bad experience especially given the hotel is a 4-star hotel.

Stayed one night. Dark, tiny room with a large window with a view of an exterior wall. AC didn’t work. Toilet seat was broken. Fridge didn’t work. Carpets are dirty throughout the building. 20 minutes in line to check in while one of the two clerks behind the desk did literally nothing. $400 for the room, $40 for “amenities” and $10 for a warm bottle of water from the desk. The room was quiet. Mediocre breakfast. Concierge got us a cab when we left but gave the driver the wrong name so we had to pull our stuff out of the cab and go looking for the concierge to tell the driver to take us. Amateurish and overpriced. Beware.

Great experience! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were clean and nicely decorated. We stayed jn a deluxe double and there was ample space for two adults. The location is terrific- walked all over the place and close subway access, too. Don’t miss the rooftop for spectacular views- great drinks and service, too!

A huge disappointment. We had stayed at the Hugo before Covid but the standard of the hotel has fallen dramatically. The hotel needs to be refurbished - all areas are shabby from the lift which looks like it should be used only for goods to the rooms where the cabinetry is delaminating. To make this worse, our room was not cleaned at all on two days out of three until we complained - even then the "cleaning" was cursory and no clean towels, coffee cups or refills were provided (until we called down to reception) We will not revisit I'm afaraid

The hotel was very run down. Flooring in the room was coming up, and the A/C was not working. Long black hair was on the floor in the bathroom. It was just over all not a clean or good stay experience. We tried to change rooms but the manger said there were no more rooms, and we could not change to another hotel due to full occupancy in near by hotels. The manager offer a refund, but during check out, they changed and said they could not accommodate our request. Only could offer refund to the resort fee, which was not alot, but that as yet to be refunded. The photos on their website is not a real representation of the rooms or view. I would spend alittle more money and stay somewhere else, don't say at this hotel.

Bed had bugs in it and management brushed it off since they’re “near the water”. Soap bottles didn’t work as the pump is over used and not replaced. Window was full of caked on dust. Sun shade had blood splatter or God knows what on it. Pillows were all different sizes and shapes and awkward stuffing wrapped in random sheets, same for the bedding overall. And on the last night the safe just stopped working with valuables locked inside. Took management 2 hours to figure out how to get it open. Place felt very humid and just dirty. In my 10 years being a Platinum member I’ve never had a property tell me they couldn’t honor one benefit, until Hugo. After all of this they comped the resort fees $100 and offered breakfast (no thanks, keep it). Christopher, the “Director of Operations” was totally unphased that any of these things occurred and told us most of them were normal in fact. As a director he was highly unprofessional and extremely condescending highlighting that this property is not only unsanitary but very poorly managed. I’m filing a claim with American Express due to the bed bugs.

Convenient location a couple of blocks walk from Soho, Greenwich Village and subway to the rest of Manhattan. Very friendly and helpful staff. Complementary coffee round the clock. Lovely view of Jersey over the Hudson from higher rooms. Rooftop bar and restaurant very smart. Rooms and communal areas slightly tired but clean and good value for the area.

I specifically selected a room based based upon the images on their website saying that the room had a view. It did not! We were on the third floor looking directly into the UPS building. The shower head didn't work and it was extremely noisy. When i complained they said they can arrange another room the next day. The second room was in the fifth floor and looked into a courtyard of another apartment building. Shower worked but the sink would not drain! If you advertise rooms with a view you have to deliver and Hotel Hugo did not!

Lovely hotel in a quiet and safe area of New York. Very helpful staff and nice cafe downstairs for breakfast/lunch or dinner. The rooftop bar is amazing for views and cocktails/small bites. Highly recommend. Rooms are spacious for New York, and we had a lovely view of the river and NJ skyline. Also had a complimentary umbrella to borrow in the room which was helpful when it rained! The only negatives I can think of are that the air conditioning is quite old and noisy (bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper), and I didn’t think the hotel was very eco friendly. They changed the towels every day (even if we left them hung up and not on the floor). I think the hotel needs to do more to be more eco friendly in this regard. Also they supply small bottles of water, these should be bigger to minimise plastic waste, or just have a water station in the lobby or on each floor. Overall a very nice stay in a great area of New York and close to the subway, would stay again.

Hotel Hugo was decent. I would stay here again, but nothing amazing. When I first went into the room it had a bit of a funky smell, so I sprayed some perfume around to help. The outlets didn’t work in some areas, the TV sound wouldn’t work, and the ceiling in the bathroom was in rough shape. Other than that, it was fine. Good room size, convenient location for me, felt safe, etc.

The hotel was fine - not great, but fine. Very young clients for the most part. Rooms quite small, but perfectly efficient. The thing that makes this property really good is the staff and service. They are extremely helpful, cheerful and kind. Can’t say enough good about them. Great Soho neighborhood - parking within two blocks - plenty of dining options.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed and pillow, clean, great location, walkable neighborhood with great restaurants, 40 min ride to LGA, free coffee and cold brew in cafe downstairs. Walls are thin, you hear conversations in rooms next door and in hallway. So if you are a light sleeper this is not the place for you.

Terrible customer service everytime we asked for something simple we got eyes rolled and attitude asking for an extra mini water and another day a first aid kit looking for a bandaid for a foot bloody injury and they were trying to gatekeep bandaids. Asked for extra waters to be sent up and she gave me attitude and never sent them up ever. Terrible smell in the lobby the first two days it was horrid.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with our recent stay at your hotel. Upon arrival, we were shocked to find the room in unacceptable condition — it was dirty, the sink and phone were not functioning, and the so-called fridge wasn’t working either. We immediately reported these issues to the front desk, and while the reception staff initially promised to waive our resort fees for the inconvenience, only two nights were removed upon checkout — despite the problems persisting throughout our stay. This was not only misleading but also reflects very poorly on your customer service. Overall, this experience was far below what we expected, and we left extremely dissatisfied. I hope you take this feedback seriously and take the necessary steps to improve both your facilities and your service.

The room was well appointed and a great size, especially for Manhattan. The staff was friendly and helped us settle in early in early, just in time for our babies second nap, making our lives much easier. Reasonable subway connectivity and a short walk to lots of restaurants and things.

The hotel is in a great location and overall very nice. The service lets it down because the staff are at best disinterested ( reception) and sometimes rude ( coffee shop). The roof top bar is also a bit of a negative because unless you pre book ( which you have to know) you cannot get a table and the constant arrival of non hotel guests means that you can be waiting 10 minutes to get an elevator up to your room

Overall the hotel is nice. I really enjoyed the rooftop bar. The cashier downstairs in the restaurant serving breakfast needs to work on his attitude and patience with guest. He’s rude and I don’t believe he is aware.

The staff was very nice and accommodating. The rooftop bar was incredible with an amazing view, and that is coming from a lifelong New Yorker. The hotel was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. We stayed in the King room and it was spacious for a NYC hotel room, in my opinion. For anyone who’s never traveled to NYC, hotel rooms tend to be tiny, but the layout of this hotel made it easy to get around. Breakfast at the cafe in the morning was delicious, too! Coffee was included with the price of our room.

Superb hotel in SOHO district of NY. Great accomodations. Rooftop bar had a nice view of skyline while enjoying a night cap, the restaurant offered a nice menu between breakfast and dinner, and the room was very posh. Definitely great spot for business travelers and/or families to stop in while visiting NY.
