The Elmwood

Clean and updated rooms. Some maintenance issues starting to be overlooked. But, dollar for dollar best value in Waterville. Convenient location. They offer free continental breakfast but haven't checked it out yet. Ice machine is broken. Very inconvenient with this heat we've been having. We will stay here again.

Easy parking, convenient

Great property. Not chain hotel. Next time I'll stay at the annex building as it only has inside access whereas the main building is only outside exit-just a personal preference.

Dog friendly, which was a first for us. Not super cheap for essentialy a motel, but ample for what we needed overnight in Maine.

This hotel has been entirely renovated, very modern, cool wallpaper, innovative plumbing fixtures, lots of outlets for electronics. But it still has the basic 1960’s Motel architecture on two floor, so half the guests have to walk up the 16 steps to the second floor. Breakfast is continental, basically, cold cereal.

Clean, modern and spacious. Located by all your shopping needs. Happy to have found a nice place where they allow dogs!

Nicely updated large sized room. Liked that the sink area was outside bathroom. Parking was right outside to room. Coffee was wonderful and they even had decaf!!

Centrally located to the area I need to be in. The only thing that I did not like was the ice machine didnt work and it was the only one on site..

This was my 2nd time at the Elmwood and I will continue to stay here any time I’m working in Belfast! I didn’t get to check in until midnight and it was no problem at all. The staff are very friendly and personable, the rooms are clean and modern, the location is super convenient, and they’re pet friendly! I work for myself so I take my dog on the road with me, so the fact that I can bring him along when I’m up this way is a HUGE plus!

I specifically booked an accessible room, as a person in a wheelchair would, only to arrive and find I could not access the lobby to check in due to a large entry way step. The real icing on the cake though was that the accessible room was located on the second floor with no elevator. What genius decided this was accessible?

This was a charming little hotel that has been renovated. Rooms were very clean and smelled clean. Staff were very friendly had a simple but delicious breakfast available.

I appreciated that the property was newly renovated, but my room wasn't very clean. The floors in particular were very dirty, including the shower floor.

Floor was so dirty our feet were black. Bed very uncomfortable.

Room was not clean. Desk was filthy &wife cleaned it with a wash cloth. Floor was not swept. Only one bath towel in room. Had ice bucket but no cups. Very disappointed especially after I had read reviews. Oh yeah we thought room had an odor.

I liked that it was easy access just off the highway, however housekeeping had not done a good job cleaning the room before I got there. Unfortunately I didn’t notice some type of drink had been spilled on the nightstand, leaving it sticky, until after I set my cellphone, book and glasses on it. The only thing I had to drink in the room was water. The desk also had sticky drink residue on it. The cable was very limited, only a few channels, and reception quality was poor. The box of tissues in the bathroom only had a few tissues left in it. The shower was decent though.

Room is very modern with nice lighting and computer hookups. Beds are very comfortable. Floors were lovely but dirty. Made my white sox black. Shower was clean.

Room was clean and large. Comfy bed. Very minimalist kind of room. Easy access off of 95, and couldn’t hear highway noise! Breakfast was lacking…never brewed a fresh pot of decaf coffee! They had homemade jam for English muffins.

Such a cute hotel! The upgrades all look great and you can tell they put real effort into them. We loved the modern look and the staff were all really kind. We would stay again!

floors were really cold, square pillows not ideal, bed comfortable and heating/ac great-- but wifi very spotty wifi and frustrating. Advice given was to restart my phone- which didn't work well . Had to go outside in parking lot for calls. Shower/water pressure not great.

Clean and spacious room, I liked the extra large vanity especially. The only thing I didn’t like was that there wasn’t much lighting in the room, it was dark in the evenings even with all the lamps on.

The room was simple and clean. The shower was pitiful. Water pressure was nonexistent and the little bit of water was like warm at best.

We stayed at The Elmwood for one night on our way home from Canada. The hotel isn't bad - the reason we chose it is becasue it's right off the highway and has rooms that open to the outside which makes getting in and out with our dogs very easy. The decor inside was nice and made it feel more like an upscale place, but there were a few things that didn't. There were several spots in the bathroom where holes had been quickly and sloppily spackled over - I'm assuming those will be cleaned up at some point, but it took away from the appearance they were going for. The layout of the bathroom is a little weird, but the shower was excellent. The bed was a king but one of the more uncomfortable hotel beds I've slept on. The staff was friendly and checking in/out was easy. Location was great - right off the highway and close to food and gas stations. Overall, not a bad place to spend the night, but not quite worth what we paid for it.

Overall this hotel was one I would return too. Staff were fantastic, location was convenient, beds were comfortable & the room was clean. And the fridge was larger than most hotel fridges. The not super parts were that while it felt safe, I may not have liked it if I were alone at night. The room & property were clean, yet worn in ways that could at first appear unclean (for example: poorly patched areas of wall in the bathroom, a mix of towels that were a variety of colors, stained tub floor, crooked outlets.) Nothing that would make me not return but may not be okay with some people.

The check in was really easy. The staff was super friendly. I am truly picky when it comes to cleanliness so trust me when I say I was looking. This place passed my inspection.

Dirty, unsafe, employee for morning shift did not show up for work

My recent stay at The Elmwood was exceptional, thanks to its newly renovated facilities. Conveniently situated near the expressway and surrounded by numerous dining options, the location couldn’t be better. However, what truly sets The Elmwood apart is its staff—they are the prize of this place. Friendly, helpful, and excellent at their roles, they made my stay truly memorable. I highly recommend The Elmwood for anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay.

We stayed at The Elmwood only very briefly, en route to Cape Breton, but were very pleased with the cleanliness and comfortable bed and quiet surroundings. Due to traffic delays we arrived well after their usual office hours (7a-7p) but management had arranged to have a clerk on the desk to greet us -- we very much appreciated that above-and-beyond service.

When we first arrived, the receptionist seemed annoyed upon arrival. Then handed me a 2 page form to fill out which I havent seen that level of "questioning" since the \'90\'s? Then as I am looking through it making sure its legit, the receptionist became irritated and said you need to sign it in a very stern voice. It was the worst reception I can remember and I travel frequently for both business and pleasure. Clothes hanger was awful didnt work for us since we had a formal dinner to go to and it wouldnt support our formal wear. I didnt test it, but it would have broken off so our nice clothes had to be draped across the desk. Neighbors were rude with dog not leashed which they repeatedly allowed to nose through our belongings while unloading our vehicle. Floor was ice cold since it is tile direcly on concrete slab. They should have used radiant heat in flooring. Heating system is very cheap. I like sleeping with a fan on and this one would turn on and off through the night which is irritating. Pros were the bed itself. One of the most comfortable beds Ive ever slept in. Bathroom was top notch as well for the space. Treatments are all high end and well thought out and placed except the clothes hanger which I already mentioned. Excellent location very convenient to get to all of the focal points in the area.

Limited maid service. They only change towels/sheets every 4th day. We only stayed 2 nights, so maid service never came to the room, not even to make the bed!

Aside from breakfast offerings and being hard to pull out of parking lot due to traffic it was terrific. Comfy beds, high end shampoo and soap provided which surprised me a little and overall nice modern room. The breakfast wasn’t really a good one they just had mini cereal boxes and packets of oatmeal which you still have to make yourself, if you like coffee hey had a lot of it

Close to shopping and dinning. Close to 95 for easy on and off the highway. Plenty of parking.

We enjoyed our stay of 3 nights during an event at Colby College. Just 5 minutes down the road from the college and near so many places to shop and eat nearby. With as much action around and right off the freeway, it was very quiet! Super easy and friendly check-in and out! We would definitely stay here again.

This property is in the middle of everything easy to get to anything you want is within feet of the property place was clean. Staff was excellent.

Convenient to shopping malls and Colby college, but very noisy from the highway. Putting coffee makers in the rooms and not so thin towels would be helpful.

This is a basic motel accommodation. Clean, updated, room. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom and shower. Shower pressure was very good (noticed some other reviews that commented it was not so that’s why we stated it). Breakfast of cereal, boiled eggs, toast and OJ. Given other hotel choices in the area, this seemed to be best value. Would stay here again.

Much better on the inside than the outside. It looks a bit run down on the outside, but the rooms were clean and comfortable and had modern conveniences. Bathroom was very small but clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was all carbs, but there was a lot of choices like cereal, oatmeal, breakfast bars and yogurt. Employees were very welcoming and kind. It was an enjoyable stay.

Nice, renovated older classic motel with comfy bed and quiet. Breakfast had no proteins.

Friendly service and generally clean. Wish they had a healthy option for breakfast- only sugary and high carb options. Hard boiled eggs would be great or plain yogurt with you fixin bar would be nice too. ty
