Victorian Inn

It was a great value but was surprised that you don't stay in the Victorian home. The hotel is standard fare behind the Victorian and only the front desk is in the Victorian style home. T but the room was clean and the beds were comfy. You have to pay $19 for parking and the shower didn't have great water pressure. The hotel I would say was very reasonable and within walking distance from downtown and would stay there again in the future.

The parking was an extra charge, cut convenient. It was within walking distance of Cannery Row and the Aquarium. We enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfy. The staff was very friendly and enjoyed the happy hour.

This property is very clean, quiet and has an excellent staff. It has a free breakfast and an evening wine and cheese hour. It is within walking distance from Cannery Row, Fisherman's wharf and the Aquarium. The parking is safe and in a convenient downstairs garage.

Fantastic location, easy walking to the Aquarium, Cannery Row, and the beach! We brought our golden retriever with us and appreciated how dog-friendly they are! Free breakfast was great and the parking garage made parking very convenient.

Close to Cannery Row, easy in-and-out parking (not free) which is a bonus. Breakfast could use improvement, it's above standard Continental but more hot options would be nice. Great, helpful, friendly staff. Daily housekeeping as well. An excellent choice for Monterey.

Good location, hate paying for parking, good breakfast

Well located for access to Cannery Row, Aquarium and waterfront trails. Parking 19$ per day extra but convenient and secure. Room was comfortable and quiet and housekeeping efficient . Continental breakfast best we have experienced in a week in the Carmel/Monterey area...freshly cooked omelettes and a variety of fruit etc options.

Pet friendly hotel. My dog Boogie enjoyed his stay as well as my mom and I. Covered garage parking easy access by the elevator. The complimentary breakfast has simple but good options. Wine and cheese at 5pm to 6pm complimentary as well. Location is close to restaurants and The Cannery Row. Overall a nice place to stay to be close to everything.

Great place but has very expensive paid parking! Other similar hotels do not. On a very busy one way street. Very noisy.

Two woodlice in the room / bed, dripping pipe outside our room door, electricity not strong enough for UK appliances.

Great central location in Monterey, especially for the price. Easy walking distance to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail. Service was great. Very aesthetically pleasing hotel with a nice parking area (they have a nice perk where you can leave your car parked in their garage until 5 PM on your checkout day in case of any last minute site seeing). There’s a lot of character in the hotel rooms with a button-press fireplace and Victorian style furnishing and artwork. The patio area on the first floor rooms are shared, which is a little strange, so if you want more patio privacy, I would recommend requesting a second floor room. There is also no AC, so room temperature may be a problem in the summer, but Monterey winds along with the rooms ceiling fan and extra fan in the closet helps cool the room fast (The switch for the ceiling fan is next to the fireplace switch. The switch is labeled, but could be overlooked easily, especially if you are already overheated). However, there’s a different price for the affordable rate, great location and charming setup. That price is noise and smelly plumbing. On the first floor, you can hear every second floor footstep and door shut too clearly. Every time the sinks or shower head were used, a rotten odor wafted out of the pipe. It smelled like a ton of gunk buildup. We mentioned this issue to the front desk as we checked out, and they wanted to resolve the issue shortly afterwards. Overall a nice stay.

Great staff and service. Breakfast was pretty good. My only complaint is this hotel needs some updating. Curtains in our room were dirty and falling apart. Carpet in the rooms and hallways could use some updating as well

Down town area, traffic noise early in the morning (our room next to the side walk). Most of our pillows are old and smelly. We enjoyed very much the in room fireplace. Wine and cheese is excellent and delicious breakfast. Staff are friendly.

The staff was lovely and very helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. Our room was very clean, but the hallways and elevator area needed more attention. Overall, the hotel seems a little tired.

Mold in the shower, grout needed to be redone, big piece of wood cut out, wood was nicked and scratched up everywhere. It was noisy from upstairs, and next door. Very expensive considering this. Fridge was not very cold and a tech guy replaced it late and that was great! It was wonderful having breakfast, The sausage was good quality and loved the So Deliscious yogurt. That made up for the negative. Worse was the filthy dirty, moldy, bacteria and parasite ridden pillows!!!! They should all be thrown out and not replaced, It was so gross having them next to the clean pillows.

Lots of positives about this inn - location, price, breakfast included, afternoon cheese and wine, friendly staff, easy parking. The rooms are dated but actually not in too bad condition. Felt it was let down by the really dirty curtains - these really need replaced.

First thing I will say, the staff and housekeeping are some of the friendliest and most caring I’ve ever experienced in my travels. They’re so sweet. If you’re bringing a dog, regardless of service animal or not, expect the “pet friendly rooms” that smell awful. Carpet was ripped, stained, the whole room reeked. I asked to switch and they gladly accommodated me with a non carpeted room, 10000x better and even seemed more clean all around. But why even give anyone that room? It’s disgusting. Another negative is the shared balconies. I want to enjoy my own space, not share it with someone else. Pics do not show that aspect. Beds are decent, not the best but not the worst. Will probably stay elsewhere next visit, thank you for accommodating me though.

Loved our stay and it was the cleanest room we have ever seen.

Had to pay extra for parking. Walls are thin. Running water is loud when neighbors are showering. Close to cannery row. Easy to walk to dinner and the aquarium.

Convenient location. Nice old hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Walls are a bit thin so there was a lot of noise from the room above and the hallway. Parking was convenient. There was not any air conditioning! The gas fireplace was a very nice touch. Our second time staying. Would return again.

The room itself was excellent. Roomy, clean, nice gas fireplace. We had a room with two queen beds. Breakfast was good, with a decent number of options. Hotel is within walking distance of Cannery Row, the Aquarium and only about a half mile from Fisherman's Wharf and downtown. Our only word of caution is request a room not right on Foam St; ours was, and traffic noise in the morning was noticeable. We chose to not make use of the $17 parking fee per night, and found street parking easy and safe.

Rooms are outdated and there is NO AC. Breakfast gets hectic with too many people. Otherwise average stay.

Everything about the Victorian Inn was great: the location is just 2 short walkable blocks away from Cannery Row, the room was spacious and clean with a beautiful fireplace, and the service was courteous and fast. I especially loved the egg white and sausage breakfast in the morning with fresh fruits and yogurt.too. Waffles are also available. Parking is very close by, just outside the office and rooms. Thanks for such a memorable stay.

The property was nice, breakfast was great and cheese and wine hour was awesome! But the room had NO a/c, not even a fan mode.. only heat, was extremely noisy w people walking around loudly in the middle of the night every couple hours, loud doors slamming and people in hallway, didnt sleep but 2 hours off and on.

We had a big room on the top floor with a fireplace, a balcony, a seating area and two sinks!! The only thing I was expecting (but didn’t end up needing) was air conditioning. We could even see the ocean.

We arrived at the Victorian Inn at 6:05, following our wedding. We’d driven through 8 hours of traffic, multiple delays following our nuptials. The ‘wine and cheese hour’ had just completed, but we asked if we could have a glass after our daunting travels, and were denied. It’s understandable that they have to cut their wine and cheese right at 6, but we had just gotten married…. The room was comfortable enough, though the body wash container in the bathroom was empty. Our balcony overlooked the street, and a sliver of ocean could be spotted between buildings. Not thrilled to spend $17 for overnight parking in addition to room fees, but they allowed us to leave our car there until the next day at 5 pm, which was very helpful in going to the museum and killing time until we could go to the next hotel. We’ve stayed here many times, and will likely stay again…

Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was cute and comfortable.

We went for a 4 night stay and enjoyed our time with two little ones. Walkable to most things, quiet area, clean and no issues with the room. Only minor issue I had was that they did not offer any complimentary water or snacks and charge $4 for a basic/no name bottle at the front desk. We ran low with our baby bottles and I thought that was a bit unreasonable to charge that price but it was not a huge deal. Otherwise, I do recommend this hotel and would return.

The property itself is awesome and we had the most amazing time. The one hiccup we faced was from the front desk who confirmed we could check-in early and then back tracked on what she said once we reached.

Wonderful staff!

The staff are awesome from front desk staff Christina and the amazing Victor who went out of his way to provide us with cheese and wine when we arrived 10 mins late yesterday. He is so charismatic and has joie de vivre! Plus the best customer service. The only downside is what we could hear. Due to inconsiderate neighbours slamming their doors it was hard to have a soothing lie in this morning, unfortunately.

We stay here most every time we come to Monterey. Love this place, all staff friendly, helpful. PS wine and cheese hour does go a long ways to make the experience!

The Staff were super helpful and thoughtful, especially the front desk manager, Ariana and the evening staff, Ethan and a lovely woman whose name I don't recall.

Check in is at 4 and we arrived in Monterey at 11:00 am, so we went directly to the Aquarium. We had a marvelous time and then back tracked to the hotel. It was difficult to navigate due to the one way streets, and our room wasn't ready at 2:00. Staff was not particularly friendly.. So we went to Fisherman's Wharf and walked around. We got a text later and was greeted warmly on return.

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of good restaurants, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium yet not in the middle of all the crowds. The staff was very friendly and the evening wine and cheese reception was a nice touch.

This hotel really exceeded our expectations. It was extremely clean, cozy, and dog and family friendly. It’s also at a convenient location where you can walk to a lot of restaurants too.

Perfect base to explore the Monterey Peninsula. The aquarium and restaurants and shops along Fisherman’s wharf within an easy walk. Attached parking garage very convenient. Room very spacious and comfortable with gas fireplace and a little balcony. Breakfast choices were excellent and staff friendly and helpful

We feel like a guests at the Victorian Inn. The staff are welcoming and we love the cheese and wine time. It’s the perfect snack before we head out for the evening after a day of exploring Monterey and Carmel. The breakfast is fantastic! We recommend this place to our friends and this is the only place we’ll stay when we visit Monterey!

Would have liked a jacuzzi on grounds. Rooms do not have a microwave. Enjoyed breakfast and wine/cheese hour.

A nice place to stay. The staff were excellent. The location is great. The breakfast was okay, but a little more variety day-to-day would have been nice. Same for the daily wine and cheese hour. I would definitely stay there again.

Quick check-in, friendly staff, luggage carts for convenience, spacious room (fridge, main table and side tables and chairs, sink in bathroom and just outside bathroom), fireplace or a tower fan available to use, complimentary breakfast (fresh DIY waffles, sausages, eggs, oatmeal, juices, coffees, fresh fruit, yogurts, etc.), complimentary wine/cheese/crackers community happy hour from 5-6, and parking lot is below the building. Had a great stay with my family of 4, easy walk to Cannery Row (less than 10 minutes) and plenty of restaurants with 1-2 blocks. Local free trolley available to get around Cannery Row and downtown.

A really friendly welcome from the reception team and a super hotel that exceeded expectations and the website photos. Huge room with excellent facilities and a very large, comfortable bed. Breakfast was generous and plentiful. Guests were a little cramped at peak times in the communal breakfast area.

Excellent place to stay. Cannery Row is a short 3 block walk and the aquarium is a 10 minute walk. The room was comfortable and we really enjoyed the gas fireplace. Breakfast is adequate but not a lot of choice. The wine and cheese in the afternoon is satisfactory. I would definitely stay here again.
