Lovely stay. Was so cosy sitting by the fire in the restaurant and bar. Service from friendly, helpful staff. The room was very comfortable with a lovely modern bathroom. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Helen made us feel very welcome. Lovely room which had a bath ! Good choice of food on the menu and two open fires to get cosy around. Very nice breakfast to set us up for the day, we would definitely stay here again.

Lovely place, helpful friendly staff, good breakfast and a nice room. Only downside is the ensuite which although very nice is on the small side. Very dog friendly and the area is good for walking.

Stayed for two nights DDB all the staff were friendly and helpful. The Room was clean and comfortable. Nice size shower, could have done with a shower mat in the shower. The room was a nice size and was neve cold always a nice temperature. Nice touch with the fresh milk kept in a little fridge on the landing for your teas and coffee. Will definitely stay again

A nice quiet hotel with plenty of free parking. Good food and beer and good quality breakfast. Staff were all very friendly and efficient. Room was clean but some of the paintwork needs refreshing. Lovely view over the fells to the rear.

This was our 4th visit to Pooley Bridge. It has parking and free WiFi. The menu is varied and well priced. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are pretty, functional and the beds are comfortable. The towels are huge and fluffy.

Had a fabulous stay with my son. Easy check in. Clean and spacious room, plenty of tea and coffee and fresh milk available in a small fridge in hallway. Staff very friendly and helpful with advice, they take a genuine interest in you and what you are doing-I was trying wild swimming and paddle boarding at my sons request. They all asked how it had gone! The food is good and menu has enough choices to suit anyone. Quiz night was very entertaining. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone

Great location, nice room but looking a little deeper in the bathroom, mould in shower head that can easily be wiped off, shower cubical could do with a good scrub, toilet seat wobbly, slips to the left, toilet bowl not great.. possibly dried on specks of poo but I did have a closer than average inspection due to the shower not being as it should’ve. I think the bathroom just needs a deep clean. Pillows in room old and lumpy one with a previous residents hair inside, I use my own pillow protector and case so didn’t give this too much thought. A very busy pub, very friendly and helpful service and didn’t want to complain, the bathroom was adequately clean just not to my standard.

Breakfast was excellent, location not far from motorway. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, the premises was spotless clean. The only negative was there was no blind in the bathroom of room 12.

Staff were really friendly and helpful and quickly resolved a checking in issue. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. The rooms were well decorated and comfy beds. Food and night and breakfast was delicious. The only downside was the strong smell of wee by the gents toilets/going up the stairs.

The hotel was lovely, with excellent food and attentive service from the staff in the food and bar areas. However, I would like to caution others when booking a room at the Pooley Bridge Inn, as it seems that Country Village Inns, the owner, is not fully transparent in their room descriptions. For example, my friends and I booked our rooms six months in advance for a two-night stay. We paid the same price per couple, but there were significant differences in the rooms we were given. My friends were comfortably situated on the first floor, with a larger room, a Juliet balcony, lovely vinyl flooring, a larger bed, and a shower enclosure. On the other hand, my partner and I, who is 6ft 3, were placed in a dingy bedroom on the third floor. The carpet was rotten, and the paintwork was damaged, giving the room an unsettling vibe. The ceilings were sloped, but the most bizarre part was the bathroom, which sloped at every angle. It was impossible to brush your teeth without your head touching the Belize window. Additionally, the room only had a small, bath with a shower attachment on the tap. My partner, who couldn't even fit in the bath, had to crouch and shower himself down using the hand held attachment as it couldn’t even be placed in the wall due to the space. The lack of a shower screen resulted in water spilling onto the floor, which could be impossible and actually dangerous for someone with mobility issues. It was evident that others had faced the same issue.

Amazing location, beautiful scenery, nice food (although they forgot an item on a Sunday roast). All staff friendly & helpful. Room was spotless and clean and very comfortable.

Fantastic location, convenient base for short Ullswater stay. Staff mostly great and welcoming, rooms very clean, corridors and paintwork showing wear and many scuffs. Room tea coffee facilities excellent, evening meal was very average and probably over priced. Breakfast, service and overall environment lovely and excellent service. Set us up well for the day and one of the nicest breakfasts I've had. Would definitely consider a return stay when in Ullswater.

Overnight family stay with my father and my little girl , stayed in room 12 which was nice. The only gripe I have is my dad is 76 years old and couldn’t use the wash facilities as the bath was too small and you couldn’t shower as the velux style roof meant you couldn’t stand up to use the hand held shower head.

Room was small but lovely and clean. The bed was comfy but the room was way too warm, you can’t control the thermostat. The en-suite was nice but only had a bath and was not made aware of this. The breakfast was so so, poached eggs were good apart from the bread was not toasted at all. The service was very quick and the staff weren’t very enthusiastic and didn’t really know the etiquette of whether you’d finished or not. Great drink selection, and the food on the evening was just about okay. Not a great amount to do in Pooley Bridge

The whole place is spotless and great location, the price was fantastic for a family and the room had nearly eveything you could need ( no milk for a cuppa). Only snag was it was red hot and the staff didn't know how to turn off the bathroom heater which was in full whack and too hot to touch, the window in there is a low level skylight accessible from the bath by a child so not safe to remain open as advised by the lady on the phone, so myself and my children were up and unsettled all night so we left shattered and unrested, breakfast was also good.

Great stay and very helpful friendly staff. Warm comfortable room with modern decor great for our winter stay.

Check-in was easy, however we were booked into the twin rooms in the attic so climb up 3 sets of narrow stairs with luggage was not easy and coming down with luggage a real struggle. Room had a sloping roof with a door the the ensuite that had the corner cut out to accommodate the sloping roof. Needless to say both myself and my partner banged their heads on the roof when going to the bathroom. Shower pressure was low and there was no room in the ensuite for toiletries so they was all over the floor. Sloping roof above beds was also a head impact danger. Room was quiet until it rained when the noise from the rain on the skylight kept us awake. Food in the bar was generally good and service excellent. Breakfast is a little restricted but what you get is good. Unfortunately if rained for the duration of our stay so we did not see the area at it's best, but what we did see was looked very impressive.

Lovely room at front of hotel included a balcony with seating to enjoy the view of the high street and front of hotel. Good location for Ullswater in centre of Pooley Bridge. Onsite restaurant had good varied menu and full breakfast options were delicious. Comfortable bed and onsite parking. Staff friendly and very helpful.

Room very hot and you could feel the springs in the bed. The Bathroom was decorated beautifully but the shower was only a hand held over the bath tap connection type with no hook to stand it on so you had to hold it and no shower curtain so water ended up everywhere. My husband is tall 6ft 4 and was too tall for the shower, and had to bend down to miss the ceiling. Limited room to place clothing so the floor ended up being our wardrobe. The room was not generous in size so we were jumping clothes piles. Breakfast was ok but croissants very dry. People very friendly.

Every member off staff is so helpful and friendly. The rooms were so pretty, large ans warm The bes was so big and comfy. All amenities sorted. Would not think twice about coming back.

Alasdair the manager was very helpful in sorting our problems and I was highly impressed by the lengths he went to , to solve our problems. He and his staff were all pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel . Unfortunately we arrived too late to eat .

right from our arrival the staff were superb. My wife had recently been in hospital and we were not sure how she would be. We need not have worried, the staff, ALL staff could not have done more to look after her. Anything we required was seen to and our room was cleaned when it suited us, to fit in with rest periods that my wife needed.I have traveled worldwide but have never had service and care reaching such heights!! Absolutely wonderfull!!

The staff at this hotel are absolutely excellent. Room facilities great, but the room was on the first floor and I had asked for accessible room as my husband has severe mobility issues. In effect when he left the room it was a struggle for him to go back during the day until he absolutely had to.

Nice family room with nice facilities but the service was not good. On the first of two mornings we were served bacon that was actually mouldy, not just a little bit either, and staff were not particularly bothered. We have stayed here before and it was great but sadly this has not continued. This could and should be an amazing place and has the 'bones' of it but until staff service and standards improve there will always be something missing.

Friendly staff who work extremely hard. A very central location for walking the Ullswater way and accessible by public transport, only 20min bus from Penrith station.

Lovely Pub/Hotel with a wonderful location: a minutes walk from the lake, and only a few miles from the M6. The room was compact, but clean, warm, and cosy and there was a decent selection of food/drinks in the Pub/restaurant. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The only downside for me was the bath only had a hand held shower and no show curtain. Fine of you like a bath, but not practical if you prefer a shower. Might discourage me from a longer stay. Otherwise excellent.

We had a great nights stay here on the way up to Scotland - the Pub is near the motorway so very convenient yet it was lovely and quiet with access to the lakes a short walk away. The staff were friendly, the food was good and the room was clean and ideal for what we needed. Would highly recommend.

Simple fast check in with friendly staff, room was perfect for our needs. Excellent location for the lakes and walking. Breakfast was very nice and a great start to the day will definitely be returning soon.

The hotel is well situated next to the river, the rooms are clean and practical, the bathroom excellent. The service from the staff is second to non let down by the quality of food which seemed to be aimed at the volume rather than the quality.
