Fairgrounds Inn

There were issues with the AC on the main floor. A portable unit was in the lobby area....and was not vented outdoors. Pumping 68 deg from the front of it....and 125 deg out the back back into the room. They need to read the directions on things.....and have regular maintenance done on included items. Our smoke detector had been taken down as well.

It was OK. The lobby was sweltering hit they had a portable AC unit in there that was not vented so it actually was making ut hotter. The room. AC's were dr'd to shut off way before there shut off points we had it set to 60 it would shut off at about 75ish. It was clean and safe. Breakfast was terrible and sweltering

It is completely outdated. Breakfast was the same thing everyday, so if you like biscuits and gravy, this is the place for you. The indoor pool was freezing. The door handle on our room was about to come off and the beds were horrible. I'm a Hilton guy (travel for work) and I know this is not a affiliate but I will stay somewhere further away next time (softball tournament at the fairgrounds).

Room temperature was ok. Seemed humid though despite having air conditioner on. I think the sheets and bedspread could do with an update but otherwise ok. The breakfast did leave something to be desired. Fresh fruit or scrambled eggs with bacon or sausage would have been good too. I did appreciate the fresh orange juice. It was not watered down like most places. The bar was a nice surprise as we have stayed here many times and it wasn't there before. After a long day, it was nice to come in and sit down and have a beer for $1.50. JP was a wonderful bartender.

I booked here to be close to the DuQuoin State Fair. I loved the hotel, the service, the check in (had to change room types), the parking, the location, the pool. Be aware they do not provide daily housekeeping, as do most all hotels post-covid. The only minor complaint, and it very minor, is the breakfast. Biscuits were tuff like microwaved and gravy was cold. But the waffles made up for it.

Heated pool was like ice. why even have a pool that you cannot use.

Curtains had holes in them when daylight hit them the sun came right through the holes… No water pressure for the shower. Pool could use some cleaning

Don't care for the lobby anymore. Looks "cheap" with the slot room addition. Outside could be managed more. Very large weeds need to be removed and grass cut.

Day 2 into our stay the bathroom light burnt out. The maintenance guy was not immediately available so we had to use a standing lamp in the room for light to shower. We had to get new room card every other time we needed in the room because they wouldn’t work. Breakfast was the same every day and the bare minimum of biscuits and sausage gravy. No cold cereal or other hot breakfast items were offered. Oatmeal was offered but it was the instant in a pouch and the water they had out for it was not hot enough to mix it. There was so much noise from people hanging out in the eating area that it was impossible to sleep. We went out to ask the front desk to ask them to go back to their rooms or keep it quiet but found 3 employees outside smoking cigarettes with no care as to what was going on. Fridge in room barely kept our drinks cold and the ice machine was turned off for the weekday portion of our stay. Three people were checked in to our room yet only 1 washcloth and 2 towels were in the room when we checked in. No maid service so if you wanted clean towels you had to put them outside your room to be replenished sometime later in the day. Not worth what we paid to stay close to the fairgrounds.

The bed was clean and comfortable, but the shower and toilet left the floor wet. The floor in the room was filthy. If I walked barefoot, my feet were black. Not impressed.

Got to the roomand it was 85 degrees in the room. The direct tv was not working, the staff tried to fix and could not so was moved to another room. No towels in new room, and no houskeeping during the 2 night stay.

This place had a premium price, presumably due to location right next to the fairgrounds. However, there were the following deficiencies: --The room was marginally clean (dust and dirt in the corners, under the desk, etc. It was if only the center of the room had been cleaned. --There was no room service available. If you wanted/needed fresh towels or bedding you had to trade-in your used for fresh at the front desk. That is not the end of the world, but it is also something that was either advertised or supports the premium pricing.

The first room room was filthy. The room had not been cleaned. The beds had hair on the sheets, there was a towel hang in the bathroom from someone taking a shower. It was very dusty, making it extremely hard to breathe. The second room was very dusty, I had to go to Walmart to buy a 2 comforter and cleaning supplies because there were no other rooms available. The towels were dirty in both rooms, had to buy towels. The wifi did work until 1:00am. My stay was terrible and I do not recommend it at all, even the poor was dirty.

Everything was good. Our actual room and bed was clean but the hallways were dirty

Used dirty washcloth hanging from the shower, gross. 8 dead bugs on the floor. Curtains soiled.

Toilet cycled all night because the float needed replacement. The Heat/Air unit would not function as normal operation due to the fan kept trying to run creating disturbing noises. The room was clean, however, severely lacking in maintenance which did not arise on my overnight stay and is gross neglect on Facility Management.

Quiet nice room good location

It was awful. The hotel is outdated. The shower tub was new and VERY slippery, nothing to prevent falls, NO grab handles to get in or out of the tub. The lighting was dim, probably so you couldn't see the condition of the room. There were no bed bugs but there were bugs because the room was very humid. We did ask for maid service for more towels and they got right on it while we were gone. Said Open Bar but they had nothing complimentary and the kid working had no idea what drinks were....asked for a wine, that was on the counter, but he had NO idea what it was. We went to Walmart and got us wine coolers, which were a lot CHEAPER!!

It was quiet. Need new mattresses and furniture. Carpet needs to be cleaned

For a king size bed, it had four (4) small pillows. They were placed two (2) on one side and two (2) on the other side. Shower nozzle was for a tall person 6 ft 3in.

It is fine for price - place is outdated, carpet feels like it needs to be cleaned. Bed is old and not very comfortable

No hair dryer in room. Garbage and a non working refrigerator in the hallway. Bed was comfortable, room was spacious.

Overall experience was good, but it was clear that the bare minimum amount of effort and expense was used to make the place functional. Staff was generally pleasant but constantly changing to different people, so no continuity.

Very professional, however kind with great hospitality and service. Definitely a very peaceful stay that was well needed

It took 30 min for someone to even show at desk to check us in. We had to find a phone # to a cell phone to call someone. Our sink is broke. Smells like cigarettes. Etc etc. Shower ran into nothing but cold water. Couldnt use the washer and dryer. And needed to wash uniforms for ball tournaments.

Everything was great! Very clean, and the staff was amazing.

The hotel was mediocre at best. Rooms were clean but limited ammenties. Hand soap but shampoo or conditioner in the shower. The included breakfast was one of the most dissapointing I have had. Staff liacking knowledge of the local area. Asked about restuarnts and convinient stores and was tolda had to drive to the next town, After exploring on my own found both within 2 miles of the hotel. Would not stay again.

We were staying for a race and the staff did a great job accommodating our large group

Front desk associate was helpful and friendly at check-in. We stayed here to attend the fair which was an easy walk. Would stay here again for the fair.

When racing in DuQuoin this is the perfect place for us to stay. We can walk to the track if needed, pool area is clean, staff is friendly.

The location is prefect when attending the fair.

It was clean but they also had breakfast being served on the site but when I stopped they said they don't have breakfast when they only have four rooms booked. I think it should be noted when renting. They said they were going to do coffee as well and didn't put out coffee.

Breakfast did not have butter or cream cheese for dry bagels. Thankfully I had warm biscuit with peanut butter. No eggs no fruit sub par breakfasts. I’ve stayed here multiple times and was disappointed this time.

Breakfast had day old donuts coffee and stale bagels. The beds were hard there’s wood missing off most furniture and the bedding was stained and had cigarette burns. The room itself was cleanish but it’s pretty dingy and the pool was completely cloudy.

Breakfast was sparse. 1 piece of loaf bread for toast and 3 every thing bagels and make your own waffle. No eggs, meat, gravy or biscuits. No fruit or cereal. Milk and Orange juice and but no water. Coffee was terrible.

Breakfast was disappointing. Not a buffet. consisted of oatmeal packs, and dry bread out for us to toast.

Breakfast was nothing more than some bread products (limited selection), coffee and orange juice (from a pitcher, no labeling)

Room was fine. No coffee was ready. Waffles were available. We went to MvDonalds. I had seen other folks post about poor breakfast
