Winsor Hotel

The property itself is decently well, for the price and location. The staff was very friendly. The room is clean and sufficient. This was a last minute overnight booking for us. The bed is poor quality- like sleeping on a box spring. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything around you. Including all the cop cars and unhoused people outside (even at 4 am). The room itself served it's purpose on a budget. We did greatly appreciate that the hotel is locked so randoms can't just come in. Felt safe because outside it doesn't. Happy with the stay- but not the best surrounding area.

The neighborhood was shoddy, but the hotel was secure and clean.

This place should be advertised as a hostel not as a hotel.

Firstly where can you get two nights in SF for 100$ that said I’m guy traveling alone with a small backpack and all I needed was a comfy bed and they fulfilled that. Easy to check in, desk guy was kind, room was clean but it’s like a private room hostel. Sink in my room, toilet and shower down the hall. No complaints there. The surrounding area at dusk gets very hectic. That area has always had a ton of homeless. That didn’t bother me I just walk thru it. You’re going to want earplugs even with the window closed it can be noisy outside Friday and Saturday nights. I’d stay again, close to BART and Muni.

Great last minute price for a room during a busy time in that area of SF. The staff at the desk did their best to accommodate an early check in due to my situation which I very much appreciated. Clean room. Nothing fancy, just a reasonable stay on a quick trip. Not an ideal neighborhood for families with young kids as it is quite dirty, noisy, and an area with a prominent homeless population. However, if you are of the mind to understand that there is no actual threat as long as you are not wandering the streets alone at 3am then this is a good deal for a stay if you are in a situation where you are visiting SF to be out most of the day seeing the sights and just need a place to sleep. I would stay here again.

Rooms look nicely and newly renovated. All common areas are kept very clean and well-maintained. Absolutely no complaints. The description provided by the owners is accurate. I like supporting a family owned business! Good experience for needing a safe and reliable place to stay in the centre of the city.

I recently stayed at a hotel in San Francisco and had a pleasant experience overall. The hotel was very clean, with a simple and basic atmosphere that made for a comfortable stay. Although our room didn’t have a private bathroom, the shared bathrooms and showers were spotless and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and welcoming. While the area outside the hotel is a bit grimy, with many homeless individuals and drug addicts around, we didn’t encounter any problems. Despite the surroundings, the interior of the hotel is surprisingly nice and feels like a peaceful escape from the outside. However, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who has trouble with stairs, as check-in is located up two flights. But if you don’t mind that, it’s a solid choice for a clean and budget-friendly stay in the city.

The elevator didn't work going down, and the immediate area in front & around "hotel" resembled a 3rd-world country (not touristy San Francisco)

Great for the money. Very convenient to attractions and public transportation. Rooms, and shared bathroom/shower areas were very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Area can be a bit seedy late at night, but stay aware of your surroundings, mind your own business and you’ll be fine. Hotel itself is secure. I’d definitely stay here again.

The room was very clean the staff was very nice friendly.. the area is like horror movie. I will not be coming back to many ppl walking around out side doing drugs like walking zombies. But the price was good. Still not coming back

It was the cheapest we can find for a week and at such a late notice. It isn’t in the great part of the city but for a location it is in a great area convenience wise. The hotel was clean and friendly. It is a shared bathroom and shower area so you only have the privacy of your room. but overall not too bad. Might try again if I ever end up in the area again. Thank you!

There were two dead roaches on our bed, the bed is really squeaky and barely has any sheets on them. The bathroom somehow always had pee all over the seat unless you go there in the morning right after they clean it. About three times in one night did the cops and ambulance come by the neighborhood. Area smelled like pee. Wouldn’t recommend honestly just pay for a better place.

Hotel is good but outside on the street there are many many homeless doing drugs it is crazy.. I was afraid.

The Winsor Hotel has been renovated well. The room was nice, spacious, with chair, sink, clothes rack, chest of drawers and a small desk. The double bed is very comfortable. A nice place to stay on a budget. I like old fashioned. Nice people. Homeless people on the street,

Pros: the staff are super helpful and accommodating. I was provided with an iron upon request, was able to do a cash deposit instead of card, and was provided with a space heater because I was cold. The price can’t be beat; and it is very convenient for transportation and walking. I also only saw one other guest so it felt very private despite having a shared shower and bathroom area. The shared spaces were very clean. Cons: the bed was so uncomfortable. I have stayed in shelters with better beds in my lifetime. I woke up super sore today. Also it was very cold. They said the radiator would kick on at a certain time but i never felt it. They provided me with a space heater that kept my room warm but the shared bathroom and shower area was still chilly. The room was in the condition you’d expect for $57 a night— clearly worn in but definitely clean. Overall I would be very likely to stay again if they replaced the mattresses.

The rooms are kept clean and the staff is helpful. The mattress was low quality, with springs that can be felt when laying on it. There was a large (100 people) gathering of homeless people across the street at night and the noise could be heard clearly in the room.

Not the fanciest hotel but it’s affordable. Area outside has a high volume of people living on the street and is noisy but feels safe while inside. Staff are friendly and bed was comfortable. Curtain rod had some maintenance issues and water pressure was terrible. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay though I’d choose somewhere else if I had the budget

Heating is not working and at night it’s very cold

Clean and cheap. Better than hotels at the same price. The ceiling fan was making noise, and have to be turned off when I was going to sleep, but it was not a big problem.

DO NOT STAY HERE! One of the nights we booked at this hotel, our door did not work so we could not get into our room! We tried everything we could to contact a staff member but there was no one on site to help us at all. We had no choice but to find another hotel for the night and this was at 3am! When we talked to the hotel staff about what happened they refused to give us a refund and told us to contact the booking site. Additionally, this hotel is in the worst part of the city with homeless people everywhere! Loud noises and music playing on the street throughout the night so if you would like to get any sleep at all do not stay here! Very unprofessional establishment, please for your safety DO NOT stay at this hotel!

Some of the staff were nice and friendly, though I felt like it was a bit of a rip off that you had to pay a fee to drop off luggage, and they said they only took cash. At first they said their card machine wasn’t working, but was a couple days later. The area around the hotel is not ideal to stay in. Lots of homeless, and drug users (had a couple of them threaten me) while I was walking around. Hotel condition was okay. I’d only recommend it for solo travellers, but be very VERY self aware in the area. Not to mention lots of crap, and stuff on the ground too.

I made the reservation on line and paid but when I got there they demanded my credit cards and an additional 250 dollars and a physical credit card I only had Apple Pay so they didn’t accept it and I didn’t get my room now I am stuck in San Francisco with no room because I wasn’t able to get my reservation for not having something I didn’t have I wish I would of known I would of rented from another hotel

I was (I am) really surprised over the Winsor Hotel. With the location I was weary however the entire hotel is clean, safe & the office manager Joʻse was more than customer service oriented. I was impressed from the strart, rooms are basic however clean & perfect for a nomad like myself to rest while traveling. I was so impressed I decided to extend my stay as I was supposed to check into another hotel but decided to stay. This Hotel is a true version & meaning of "a diamond in the rough". Great staff with great attitudes! I booked quick & did not notice I choose a room w/shared bathroom but this hotel is so clean & calm I did not mind. I will be placing the Winsor Hotel on a must stay when I'm traveling through. & YOU CAN NOT OUTDUE THE PRICE. $$$ Thank you for the exsperience.

Sure the immediate streets are full of sketchy peeps, but door is only 60 feet from Market St. So the gauntlet is brief. For the money the room was great and staff are nice, plus there is an elevator and tv in the rooms. For a similar price the Bowery Grand in NYC doesn't come close to this fine hotel.

The location and the cost of this hotel were great! Getting in and out was hard however. The hotel can't control that people live on the street outside the door of the hotel, but sometimes I had to wait to get in as people were urinating or spending lots of time at the door to get into the hotel. The person at check in was nice and organized. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, but the area was very loud outside at 2-3am and I had trouble sleeping. Appreciate the value of this place, but won't be staying again

The place was average. The lights shut off serval times when I had only the fan and my phone pulled in. The place is decent and the worst thing was the homeless people that appeared from 9 pm til morning. It’s very convenient for public transportation. Overall it’s a 5 out of 10

I didn’t get his name but the guy at the reception desk was very nice and attentive. The room I got 310 was more than what I expected. Looks like it was renovate recently. Property is very central to everything in SOMA. There is a chicken place on the corner (chicken Gaia, I think) that sells great food. Overall very happy with my stay here.

Best thing about this place is that it was located above an awesome dive bar. The Rumpus Room.
