Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

Hotel and suite were amazing as always. Unfortunately the spa at the weekends gets to busy and at times we couldn’t get in to use it despite being a resident, hotel needs to make sure people staying have access to the facilities..

Lovely bar area, sitting rooms and grounds around the hotel. Nice leisure facilities, although the gym is smsll and quite cluttered. Arrived around an hour before check in and was initially refused access to the gym despite being told previously that we could use it. Asked the Reception to double check with the gym, who confirmed it was ok for us to use it. Due to the number of parties taking place, it was quite noisy when we went to bed and music was audible from the bedrooms. Inder staffed at breakfast, had to chase up hotdrinks, clean cutlery etc. On checkout, the Reception were going to charge again for our stay, even though it was pre paid! They need to be more careful about this.

The Spa and the grounds/building are beautiful.

From start to finish, our experience at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional. Every single staff member we interacted with was incredibly kind, professional, and truly went out of their way to make our stay better. Their warm hospitality made all the difference! The hotel itself is beautiful, located in an ideal spot with plenty of parking and a super-efficient EV charger. The restaurant and breakfast were both excellent, offering great variety and quality. The gym was clean and well-equipped—perfect for staying active during our visit. It’s easily the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at, and I’ll definitely be coming back

We did the 2 night spa package, very good value. Hotel staff were exceptional, food very good and the spa treatments were one of the best I have had. The heating had been turned down as was the swimming pool but that is only to be expected in an energy crisis. Overall a lovely hotel and we will certainly be back. the food and drink was very reasonable for a 4* hotel.

Service in the drawing room, tables left untidied for over an hour, repeatedly asked for some tap water and sugar but never came - think they were understaffed. However, still a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back!!

Amazing stay had with my partner. Hotel and room was very clean with the friendly helpful staff. We took the train into Leeds for the day and with only a short 20 minute walk to the station was a perfect location. Although we didn’t have any treatments we made use of the spa each morning to start the day. A perfect getaway enjoyed, would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to just get away and relax!

We booked a stay for 3 nights and overall our stay was warm and friendly. The room was clean and tidy. The only disappointing thing was my son was unable to use the swimming pool because of the unreasonal hours of using them during the morning and limited time in the afternoon.

Bathroom not cleaned properly hairs stuck to side of bath from previous customer. Had room service, when I sat down to eat, I found there was no knife and fork to eat with. By the time knife and fork was bought up, food and coffee had gone cold. Breakfast was poor and limiting to someone who doesn't have dairy or fried food.

I was in room 351 the bathroom was a disgrace the rest of the wedding party were all located together when I asked why the guy was quite rude and said there was nothing t he could do. Checking in the lady told me I had a view over the golf course???? It was a massive busy could see nothing hence why I checked out so early

The public areas (reception, library, foyer, dining rooms) are beautiful and the staff are very welcoming and professional, however once you get beyond the elevator doors, the bedrooms and corridors are in need of refurbishment. Whilst very clean the fixtures are dated and worn, and the grout and sealants in bath/shower are stained. Both our towels were also stained. The pool and spa area is very nice but could also do with a deep clean to the tiled area (everywhere) to remove limescale and mould stains. Breakfast excellent.

We booked two nights in a luxury suite, £300pn, our very brief stay (until 1:00am the same night as check in) was an absolute disaster. Our rooms location was briefly described to us at check in. The hotel is a rabbit warren and considering we had booked a suite, we were left to get lost and try and find our room on our own. The suite was dirty, covered in cobwebs. The headboard on the bed was dirty and falling apart, not a good first impression. Wonky pics on the wall. We went to the bar for a drink and we were told to take a seat as they would come to us. 30 minutes later, no one came. We approached them again and sat in a more obvious spot. Even though we were well in view and the bar was quiet, we still waiting another 20 minutes until someone came over. We politely mentioned our wait to the waitress, who ‘snapped’ the drinks menu out of my hand?! She stormed off, but upon her return had composed herself and apologised, offering a free drink. We headed to the restaurant. The menu was extremely limited. We ordered starters which did not arrive. I was also told that the featured cocktail that I was drinking that evening was no longer available. This was because they had to go across to another bar to make this and it had proven impractical for them. The drink was advertised within the restaurant. We left at 1:00am due to the nightclub they were running in the bar below our suite.They didn't care. Instead of apologising the woman at reception rolled her eyes continously

Changed room As I was in 237 which is right outside the delivery area, woke up at 6 am with people shouting, bottles crashing and vans reversing, not good, changed room and all was well again

Have stayed here 3 times now & never fails to disappoint. However on this visit we were put on the 3rd floor which was not a problem until the evening. Felt like the disco from the wedding reception was in our bedroom which went on til after midnight. Maybe put wedding guests in these rooms. Would not put me off going again but maybe request not to be put on the third floor.

Lovely stay at Oulton Hall - first time I have stayed & certainly won't be my last. We used the jacuzzi, sauna & steamroom, then enjoyed an evening meal later in The Calverley & enjoyed beautiful food & excellent service from the restaurant staff. Our spacious room was clean & comfortable with the added bonus of Sky tv & a mini fridge. We felt instantly relaxed from checking in where we were greeted with champagne & a warm welcome. Looking forward to visiting again.

it was very grand and large. the rooms were clean and comfortable. But everywhere was cold and drafty.

Very grand hotel in lovely surroundings. Facilities were good and teh breakfast was plentiful. My only negative woukd be that the room.i was allocated was a little dated in decoration and the TV did not pick up and channels.

Room decor and furniture was tired looking but clean and beds comfortable

Great to be back. However was given a room that was the furthest away from reception. Plus a couple of niggles - the lighting in the room was poor and so difficult to see to dry my hair or put on make up. Didn't experiencing this last time we stayed.

Check in was fine and the room was cosy but the air con didn’t work and the room was too warm we had the window open but both me and my partner ended up with bites all over and we also had loads of ladybirds in the room and one was in the bed, this resulted in a very poor night sleep, also booked the ‘love’ package which included Prosecco but they didn’t put any glasses to have it in also was told it included chocolates which we didn’t get

1st visit in 21 years! Pleasant stay, staff very helpful. Rooms could probably do with some updating, but aside from that we were very happy with using this as a base following a resounding, comfortable win for Millwall over Leeds in the FA Cup!!!

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with beautiful grounds, only disappointment was the room on relation to cost when was slightly dated and a view of the bins and then to be woken quite early on a weekend whilst the bins were emptied/collected.

Love Oulton Hall and the grounds are beautiful and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Just a couple of things to mention! Firstly I ordered A posh finger wrap which said was cod goujons and was very disappointed when it arrived as it was fish fingers, and of very poor quality, they didn’t even resemble fish! I think at £13.95 they should be goujons as I would hardly call fish finger POSH! Secondly lack of staff on reception which made checking in take 40 mins. Stressed waitress in Champagne bar again lack of staff. I contacted Reception as I had forgotten a toiletry and was told they would send someone up with it but it never arrived! Must say it didn’t detract from a lovely stay and they may seem trivial but I think they need addressing.

Although breakfast was popular I didn’t find enough healthy options for myself. On 2 ocassions on our 2 night stay, bills were not updated to show wnat we had already paid for so my advice is to check every bill carefully. One was the prepaid add on dinner allowance that they offer and the other was the room payment which had been paid for at time of booking. Staff were very courteous if not fully Also a lack of vegetarian and vegan options - I was told that they did have a vegan menu but it wasn’t available. Spa facilities are better than average and spa treatments were very good. Beautiful decor and good ambience.

The staff don’t care. Can we check in it’s 10 minutes before 3… just a flat no with zero care to why or even a quick check to see if the room is ready. One gentleman raised a query about his tv not working, he was made to feel stupid when the person on the desk said “it’s usually simple to get the tv on”, but no offer to ask someone to come and see if something was not normal after the very polite customer had said he had tried everything and it was important for him to have a working tv. Then when we did check in they confirmed that a sofa bed had been made up for our son, get to the room, no sofa bed. Tried calling no answer which is odd there was 3 or 4 staff at the desk a minute ago with no customers. On check out despite being prepaid the person said so will just charge to the card you provided, so I had to prove it was prepaid. In a word, avoid.

Great stay. Hotel was busy on arrival with golf and a wedding, so check in took a while, eased by management giving out glasses of prosecco while queing. Room was great - amazing bed, spa facilities really nice. Bar was chilled and relaxed, we ate at the Claret Jug. The staff were fantastic and the food was lovely and still had time for another cocktail in the bar. Breakfast was also superb. A great stay

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Oulton Hall. We especially loved using the swimming pool and spa, the food at the breakfast was also very nice. Parts of the hotel were not looked after properly and needed updating, e.g toilet and changing rooms weren’t in the best condition over time. Some of the staff were friendly but this was not always the case and we didn’t get the warm welcome we would have hoped for in a 4 star hotel. This let down our experience for what could have been beautiful place.

Rooms are dated . It was very hot day and my room air conditioner was out of order. Staff were unhelpful.hotel was over booked. Breakfast was not good at all.I will never stay in this hotel. Very disappointed. Over priced.

Very slow service in the champagne bar 2 members of staff with a few peoppe queueing and only 1 staff memeber serving the other one was stood drying one glass. Was there for a charity event and thibgs had been taken from the room set up the night before

Lovely hotel and grounds, friendly helpful staff, nice food, convenient situation. Dog friendly but we could only eat in the Champagne Bar and it would have been nice to have had access to the main restaurant menu. Breakfast was excellent.

Stayed many times while visiting family. Always a lovely stay and wonderful breakfast. Perfect location

The public rooms of the hotel are lovely and spacious. The grounds are beautiful. The bedroom was clean and a good size (if a little dated). In the bathroom, a good supply of hot water and shower water pressure good. The spa was at best average and if that had been the main reason for our visit, we would have been disappointed. The gym is well equipped for a hotel gym. Great golf course. Lunch in the bar and dinner in the grill were both lovely. Varied menu and good value for money. The drinks menu was good, although a few more cocktails on the menu would be better (and more than one non-alcoholic option would have been preferred) The staff are very welcoming and accommodating. Special mention to Georgia in the bar who was very attentive and customer focussed. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Dinner and breakfast were both mostly very good but the waiting staff were struggling to keep up, just down to demand, etc. there was a couple of different functions on and whilst the hotel kept them away from the other residents, it was fairly noisy as all went back to their rooms singing or shouting, but that’s just thoughtless people rather than the fault of the hotel but I would recommend end of corridor rooms for that reason. But I do have to thank the management, who were able to move our booking at very short notice, when they didn’t have to!

Fabulous historic house on the outskirts of Leeds . Inside it’s a perfect blend of beautiful tastefully refurbished old house blended with very tasteful practical bedrooms. Every last detail has been carefully thought of and executed well . Gorgeous, would really recommend .

Fantastic stay, only disappointment was the food at dinner. Starter and desert were ok but main was positively tasteless. Thank you for the fantastic room and service though!

Lovely building and grounds. Most of the staff were very good. Robbie in the restaurant was helpful as was the man on reception. Rooms very dated. Not much vegan choice of food on the menu. There is also no porter to help with luggage and no robes or slippers to go to the spa.

Check in took about 30 mins due to everyone’s arrival being at 3. We did arrive at 2.40 but were told our room wasn’t available, not aware the queue would be 50 people long at 3. Veggie options for breakfast were limited All staff very helpful, specifically Nathan at the bar

Disappointed. I booked a night here and a table at the restaurant for a quiet getaway with my partner. The parking was good and the initial impression was a lovely building and grounds. Reception was lovely and gave an impression of a luxury resort. The reception staff were extremely courteous and efficient. After that it went downhill rather. The room, although cleanly presented was rather disappointing with very limited facilities. In a spa resort I would have at least expected proper toiletries in the bathroom, even if it was just to upsell me their spa products! The biggest disappointment was most definitely the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. I can only describe this as resembling Fawlty Towers. The bread on my starter was literally so hard it was impossible to eat (yes I have got all my own teeth) and when I explained this to the waitress she just said “oh no”. My main course was stone cold. The restaurant manager, came across and stuck his finger in it, shook his head and did send it back to be replaced. I could see the couple on the opposite table had to do the same with their food so my experience clearly wasn’t a one-off. The wine however was lovely. My partner ordered sea-bass which was poorly cooked and soggy. Breakfast saw no coffee, just a mug of milk, no glasses, teaspoons, no hot food ready, no one brought us tea as requested, we were ignored. Guests were wandering round looking for cups and cutlery. The whole thing just felt poorly managed.

Excellent hotel in a lovely setting. Haley on reception was very helpful and friendly. We had Sunday lunch in the Claret Jug and the staff and food were excellent, highly recommend. Breakfast was delicious and again the restaurant staff were helpful and friendly. Great stay.
