The location and view of the lake from the balcony were great. It goes downhill from there. It’s an old property which I would never ding for, but is showing the wear. Especially in the pool area. The floor was extremely uneven and “soggy” which made me worry about the safety. It likely needs to be completely re-done. One of the 2 hot tubs was out of order. We were told when we checked in that if we wanted clean towels during our 2 night stay, we would need to bring the dirty ones to the front desk and exchange them. Never in my travels have I ever run into that! The pool area also ran out of towels while we were sitting in the hot tub. And it wasn’t even busy. The breakfast options were not great. Typical “continental” stuff & pancakes. Zero offerings that had any protein. Carbs only. And on Sunday morning when I went to grab a coffee, I realized I was 10 minutes late. What hotels close down the breakfast at 9:00 on the weekend? I get that it’s hard to find staff, and the staff at the front desk were very nice. But at the price we paid, I expected better conditions and service.

This property is quite outdated. For the price per night being comparable to a more updated and accommodating hotel, I was quite disappointed with this option. Hot tub and pool both had cloudy water, very limited seating and short serving time for breakfast. Toilet was very low to the ground making very difficult to sit and stand. Refrigerator didn’t work and no microwave in room.

This was a busy weekend in St. Ignace with people doing color tours. We had not stayed here before, so we felt like we were taking a chance. What a great find. We had a second-floor balcony room overlooking their beach and Lake Huron looking out toward Mackinaw Island. Therre was plenty to see and people were wandering the beach. At night, and in the morning, people were lighting bonfires on the beach. This is the sunrise side of the UP so being on the beach, or on the balcony in the morning was important. They have an indoor pool, with a hot tub and sauna. We didn't take advantage of those amenities, but they were in use and looked good. Two negatives. The beds were comfortable, but they used a bed pad, and it made the bottom sheets bunch up a bit. Also the breakfast was not very good. Limited variety, mainly carbs, cereal and yogurt. No real protein. We had planned to eat out anyway, so it didn't affect us, but you should know that it could add cost to your stay if you needed to eat breakfast elsewhere. This is a three-story hotel and they do have an elevator. We have noticed more places in the UP don't have elevators, so this was a plus.

Nice little lakeside porch with two chairs. Driveway was a bit unhandy, had to go back out to street and down to other driveway to go to our parking lot. Make your own pancake for breakfast. Bagels, toast, cereal with milk, yogurt, juice, apples and oranges for breakfast. Two hammocks lakeside for use. Picnic shelter area lakeside. Elevator is a plus! Keys to unlock door, rather than a card. Wifi was iffy. Mini fridge in room.

It felt like you were going to fall through any moment. The furniture in the room was something probably 50 years old and poorly maintained. The hallways had a foul smell and exterior entrances were not secured, so anyone could just wander in. There was a free shuttle available to the ferries to Mackinac island. However, that is not enough to make me ever want to return to this hotel.

The only thing I liked was the lakefront view. The Bavarian Haus was the worst hotel I had ever stayed at! Dirty, dirty, dirty! The beach and grass area leading to the beach was covered with dog poop. The woman at the desk said it was goose poop-either way, it was an unhealthy and unsafe environment. Do not stay at this dump!!

TLDR: Overall, this was super disappointing. There is a major lack of housekeeping. Balcony was layered with dead bugs, cobwebs in the corners of the room and the bathroom, layer of dust on the lampshades, old food crumbs/chips were on the rocker chair. Plus, there was a super thick smell in the room. The absolutely only good things here were: everyone was sweet and nice checking in and out, the view of the lake is fantastic, and....well that's it. Whoever owns this place clearly isn't paying attention to cleanliness, at all. This is on them, not the people at the desks. I personally wouldn't go here again, ever. I paid over $100 for a $35 sketchy motel experience.

There were spiderwebs in and around the bathroom light but other than that, the room was clean. They do not clean the room during your stay so you have to exchange towels at the front desk. It was a nice quiet hotel with excellent view of lake Huron. There is a grass area and beach area behind the hotel.

This property has spectacular views off of the balcony from the Lakeside room that we rented. However, the room and hotel was in desperate need of cleaning and repairs. Very dated to say the least not worth $156 a night that includes taxes. The sliding glass door to the balcony was so film covered you could not even look out of the glass. There was green moss and loose wooden boards on the balcony itself not safe whatsoever. large cobwebs in the corners of the room, and under the air-conditioning. The door wall leading to the balcony did not lock and had some cheap flimsy aluminum tubing, keeping the door locked from intruders. Upon arriving to the room, there was some type of white goo smeared all over the deadbolt, where we tried to unlock the room to gain entrance. How is housekeeping missing these very basic things that need to be cleaned Very disappointed and will not return.

This property stated newly remodled. However, the tubs were not changed out and was old and stained. They do not clean the rooms or empty trash. When I ask for clean towels after 2 days, the gentleman at the desk was rude. Others had been before me asking for towels. He told them to put towels in the hall to get washed. He told me to bring the dirty towels down. Which I did not do.

Upon arriving the staff was pleasant. Regular room keys which I didn’t mind. Our room had a door on the main floor to walk right out to the beach which was the best part. Broken chair and tissues on porch. Room looked nice and updated and clean until I went into the bathroom. I am a housekeeper myself and would have sent my girls back for all of the hair left on the floor. It wasn’t a little it was a lot. I don’t think the floor was swept or mopped,so I mopped it with soap and a washcloth, and wiped everything else down just in case. The bottom of the toilet was also dirty, and between the beds wasn’t vacuumed. I was disappointed because these things don’t take long and make a huge difference in being comfortable. The beds were hard and hurt my ribs. Ultimately we stayed our two nights because of the view and lack of other hotels available. Kids were disappointed they couldn’t use the pool because it was cloudy. Again, thankful for the beach and the view, we made the best of our vacation, and the staff was very friendly.

The outside seemed a bit dated when we pulled up. Went inside to check in and everyone was very nice. Walking down the hallways, it seemed a bit dated also. Security cameras were on the walls of the hallways, so that was good. Went in the room and was pleasantly surprised. The room was updated and very clean. The bathroom was nice, the fridge was maybe feet tall, which is bigger than a lot of other hotels in the area. Nice TV mounted on the wall. It had a nice desk and desk chair. It also had several usb and usb-c outlets for charging. Breakfast was nothing too fancy, but ok (small muffins, toast, bagels, cereal, a automatic pancake maker, etc.) The view from the balcony was good also.

I booked through a third party. Upon arrival, the man at the desk was rude when I was told I had to wait to check in due to “the system not showing my reservation”, due to booking through such third party. Upon finally checking in, we made it to our room which we thought was just ok. Clean somewhat but hotel is very old and in undated condition. We did have a lake view but once we opened the curtains and the sliding door, all the bugs came in our room. They were all over us all night so we just dealt with it. Our shower head was too low even for me and I’m 5’4”. Then breakfast. Boy oh boy. I never seen such people push and shove to eat. I had a bagel and the coffee was awful. So, there ya go! Definitely was not worth the cost I paid for.

This is a very cool place in a great location. Just avoid rooms in the high 130s/low 140s. Those rooms are directly below the breakfast room so all you hear from 6 - 9 is stomping, talking and squeaking chairs.

Room was clean and updated with new carpet, beds, and furniture. Ground floor room had sliding doors to the outside that had NO locks and only a makeshift metal bar you had to set. Bathroom was not updated. No locks or security on the multiple entrances. Hallways, office, exterior, and breakfast area were from the 1980s. Front office guy was angry from the beginning. Breakfast room was just a converted hotel room and was too packed to even walk in. The view was very nice.

Room was clean, water pressure great, wonderful firm mattress, and incredible views of the lake! Plus the staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. Bonus was being able to take the shuttle from and to the ferry from the inn to Mackinac Island. Breakfast was your typical continental breakfast and area was kept clean. Breakfast crew was friendly. Thanks for making our first visit to the U.P. memorable!!!

Lady at front desk with Blonde hair seemed most concerned as to why i had a service dog with me . I foster dogs for Mich Leader dog , and asked for a room on Bottom ground level with walk out to the outside,.. She told me no Dog rooms are on 2nd floor and asked why i had a service dog . Had a additude when i said Golden Retriver , about the hair. No phone in room to reach front desk . House keeping did not bring fresh towels,each day or offer to change sheets. I had to ask and was told they only do that on request if staying more than one night. You would think they would just clean and replace towels without having to ask. On check out was a different lady at Desk she was more friendly..

We had a great stay this past weekend. When we checked in I asked if they had a room with a sleep sofa also as we ended up having an extra person with us. They had a larger room and upgraded us to a two bedroom with a living room for a very very resonable rate. The staff at check in were very friendly and helpful and answered any questions I had about things in the area. When we entered the room we were very suprised at how nice the room was. Room was very clean and everything worked great. Beds were all very comfortable and the view from both of the balconies was great. The only thing that could use updating maybe was the bathroom but it did not look bad at all just a little dated. We are probably going back to the area in October and will definitely be staying here again.

Well, as soon as we entered to check in, we were not even told "Welcome, or Good Evening," instead were told not to bring the carryon inside because it is not needed. That really pissed me off. This guy that works night shift needs to learn how to greet customers, or better yet, get more training. Me being from NYC, we dont like these attitudes. The lady the next morning was more tolerable when checking out.

I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I was to stay here! Please read on to the end! I stayed in the Bavarian Haus for only one night, but enjoyed my stay. The room had a fridge and a microwave was available near my room. The breakfast had enough options to get me started for the day. The room was exceptionally quiet and I woke up to the sun rising over the lake (beautiful!). The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond for me as I checked out. My back tire was completely flat the morning I checked out (I ran over a screw during my drive to the UP). I was unsure how to change a tire and asked the kind lady behind the desk. She immediately called the gentleman working maintenance to help. He graciously changed my tire out in the cold weather. This allowed me to safely drive 7 hours back home to Wisconsin. I cannot tell you how grateful I was for the caring staff!! Thank you, Sarah C.

Everything was fine except the first night, the room next to ours played the TV loudly ALL NIGHT long to the point that we got very little sleep. I should have contacted the front desk early in the evening, but thought that the other guests would eventually turn off the TV. When I reported the issue around 5:30 AM, the manager on duty responded immediately and confronted them.

Easy parking and close to ferries and casino and downtown shopping and boardwalk. Pool and hot tub. Have stayed here multiple times and will come back next year!!

Bavarian Haus Lakefront Inn served us well for our first trip to the UP. For a prime autumn weekend, the prices were reasonable. The rooms are a bit dated but still comfortable. We love that every room has a lakeside patio or balcony! Within walking distance to a number of restaurants, we had a variety of food choices. It was easy access to Mackinac Island and the Mackinaw Bridge so exploring the area was easy. We would definitely consider staying here on a return visit.

The location and view of the lake from the balcony were great. It goes downhill from there. It’s an old property which I would never ding for, but is showing the wear. Especially in the pool area. The floor was extremely uneven and “soggy” which made me worry about the safety. It likely needs to be completely re-done. One of the 2 hot tubs was out of order. We were told when we checked in that if we wanted clean towels during our 2 night stay, we would need to bring the dirty ones to the front desk and exchange them. Never in my travels have I ever run into that! The pool area also ran out of towels while we were sitting in the hot tub. And it wasn’t even busy. The breakfast options were not great. Typical “continental” stuff & pancakes. Zero offerings that had any protein. Carbs only. And on Sunday morning when I went to grab a coffee, I realized I was 10 minutes late. What hotels close down the breakfast at 9:00 on the weekend? I get that it’s hard to find staff, and the staff at the front desk were very nice. But at the price we paid, I expected better conditions and service.

Gorgeous views! We loved our stay simply for the views! The mattress wasn't great for two people--it sank towards the middle. However, the room and bed were very clean and well kept. The staff was mostly friendly. The breakfast room was way too small, not well laid-out, so hard to get around even when not a lot of people. Would we return? Overall, yes.

The room made a horrible noise every time the people upstairs ran the water, even woke us up at 6:00 am. the next morning. Also an older lady at the breakfast area blocked the door and did not allow us to come in because it was 8:59 am. One minute before their cut-off time, I guess. I thought it was crazy, but was not going to make an issue. We just left..

Parking was excellent. Easy to get in and out. Enjoyed breakfast. Nice selection and the lady in charge took time to talk to us!! Love the room balconies. Beautiful to step out and see the sunrise. Very peaceful stay!

Upon arrival we were informed that the hotel was short staffed and no in room cleaning services would be required, ie trash cans were not emptied, no fresh towels, no service items replenished (coffee/tea/shampoo etc). The breakfast was only open between 7.00 and 9.00, the pancake making machine was either not operational at all or broke down each day we stayed. There was insufficient space allocated in the breakfast area for the number of hotel guests. When discussed with the hotel management team they basically shrugged their shoulders and offered no response .
