Demiray Hotel Old City

Honestly, this hotel exceeded my expectations in the best way. From the moment we arrived, everything just felt easy and welcoming. The staff were soooo kind, attentive, and very respectful, which is a very important thing to us. The hotel's location is more than perfect. You are practically in the heart of one of the busiest historical areas of Sultanahmet and its surroundings. The tramway and metro are only a few minutes away, so it’s really very easy to reach wherever you wanna go in the easiest way. The room was really clean and spotless, and warm, which is a must in these cold days. The bed was super comfortable, and all the sheets smelled clean. Not to forget, it was really calm, with no cigarette smells, whether in the rooms or on the floors. The breakfast was an open buffet with so many choices. It was way better than we expected. No matter what your option is, whether it is classic Turkish food or simple oatmeal, you will find whatever you like. Overall, it just had a really good vibe. Let’s not forget the gentleness of the employee at the front desk—he even gifted us some very artistic Istanbul postcards. To sum it all up, Demiray Hotel is one of those places you’d happily come back to without even thinking twice. Definitely recommend it if you want a stress-free and enjoyable stay.

The staff at this hotel are amazing. They go out of their way to ensure you have the best stay possible. From showing us an early check in to helping set up a truly relaxing spa experience, the staff is top notch. The room is well sized and we loved our in room Hammam. However, there were very few lights in the room and it was always dim. There is very little sound proofing and we woke up each morning with the early call to prayer. Another issue came with the shower. While using it, it will randomly switch from the set temperature to very hot or cold. This was obviously uncomfortable. Breakfast was small and not overly impressive. However, we also had dinner at the rooftop restaurant and that was excellent. The hotel is nicely located in the Old Town for easy sight seeing. They can also set up an airport transfer for you, which was very easy.

It’s a very nice “boutique hotel”! Depending on what one wants or expects, it might not be exactly that. If one wants a larger hotel with fancy lobby and big rooms, this is not it. However, the staff are super friendly, overall very clean and comfortable hotel. It’s within walking distance of some of the best tourist attractions including the Bazaar and famous mosques. Great restaurants and coffee shops. Be aware that this hotel is in an old neighborhood with small roads that might or might not be open to car traffic all the time. Rooftop restaurant and the food was great. Overall, it is a nice hotel if you are not with a family. Rooms are small and some have no windows!
