This was a terrible stay. Pool was unavailable due to private party. Staff was rude and did not properly communicate why they were kicking us out or where we could go. On Sunday there was a pool party and the facility was absolutely filthy. DJ was playing songs with illicit lyrics in front of very young children. Total disgraceful behavior by the hotel. The hotel wants to be seen as highly rated but acts like a cheap flea bag hotel.

Very nice hotel, enjoyed our stay. During our visit the roof top pool was reserved for a party and we could not use it. But overall recommend this place.

Lovely pool. Nice gym. Great amenities in the room inc a good speaker. I’d prefer an iron over a steamer in the room but I bet housekeeping had one I could have ordered up. Food delicious. Staff lovely. All round a great time.

Staff was great and the amenities were well maintained! I was able to use the gym and pool while I was there.

Cool older place. Good location if you are good with downtown. Room was pleasant. Bar and restaurant really nice. Rooftop bar and pool look nice but unfortunately day I was there was big group partying and kind of took over whole thing. I’d stay here again.

The property itself is beautiful and the staff at the rooftop Terrace were excellent. Unfortunately, no ice was available unless you called guest services and they took over 30 minutes to deliver. Valet parking is pretty much the only option and it cost $60 a night. And then we had to Uber because it took them over an hour and we still didn't have, our car when we were leaving for lunch. To pay a destination fee of $40 a day with such poor service is unacceptable.

Dirty house keeping. There’s still hair on my bed after housekeeping. Hairs from last night wasn’t cleaned. Does not provide water when I asked the housekeeping to provide water. Does not have in room toothbrush or slippers. Room itself is okay, but it’s just the fact that the hairs wasn’t cleaning when we come back that bothers me.

Spotless room. Great staff.

The hotel was overall beautiful. The only concerns were: -odour in the hallway on the 5th floor -stain in shower on ground so I wore my swim slippers to shower -tv did not work Staff was friendly and service was good!

Well, it seems that the current incarnation is coasting on the original décor and set-up without reinvesting in upkeep. The restaurant remains lovely—it still graces the main lobby with charm—and the small lobby area is pleasant. Reception, however, feels like an afterthought: cramped, dark, and unwelcoming. By 11 AM, the elevator floor was already dirty. The doors facing 7th Street were draped with rough-looking fabric, and one of them was chained shut with a dilapidated lock on the outside. This does not signal luxury; it signals neglect. In the room, the shower was leaking into the space, and the marble sink was chipped. These are not small quirks but signs of deferred maintenance. Overall, the hotel clearly has seen better days. We will not be returning, which is a pity. Grade: C.

Hands-down, our favorite hotel for a staycation downtown! Always immaculate, welcome drinks, and the most beautiful breakfast spread… the little details at this hip, delightful hotel make it very special!

It is a convenient place if you have in the downtown area. The staff is very welcoming and I liked the cleanliness of the rooms.

Lovely architecture. Valet & service overall were great. Nice, dark bar. Only complaint was we could hear a lot of the noise in the hall-not great soundproofing. Would definitely return though!

Stylish with a nice rooftop pool. Especially appreciated the freestanding tub in my room. Front desk staff were all super friendly and helpful. Some noisy street work outside but no fault of the hotel.

We were here for a rooftop wedding and it was beautiful. The rooms are very dark and the lighting is not good for getting ready such as makeup and hair

It is an old bank that has been really tastefully converted into a hotel. Lovely interior décor, great breakfast, very well appointed room with a comfy king bed. Best of all a huge shower with fantastic water pressure!! Very quiet

Night start had made me feel very unwelcome. A lot of amenities that they offer online are only provided with an additional fee. Pictures do not match what was offer and I needed to ask lobby to change too . They end up changing but it still lacked what they were offering. They refused to tell me in detail about the 35 dollar destination fee or the 18 dollar credit.

This hotel was outstanding. The rooms are nice and clean. The restaurant and bar downstairs great service. The rooftop bar and pool are spectacular and Victor the bartender up there is the best. The attention to detail at Hotel Per La is second to none and exceptional. The staff goes out of their way to say hello and make sure things are going smooth during your visit. The remember faces and names and make you feel at home. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel when visiting Downtown LA area

As a Food and Beverage/ Hospitality Professional at a resort I was very impressed with the level of hospitality at this establishment. Any question I asked was met with a smile and a solution or answer immediately. It was some of the most accommodating and professional staff I’ve been serviced by in a very long time. My husband and I were staying there for a wedding so we had an early ish morning, I went down to the restaurant to grab a couple Bloody Mary’s for us. The bar was not open yet but instead of letting me know when it would open the MOD insisted that they could accommodate and he would have the drinks out right away. I was very impressed and thankful for their prompt service and Hospitality. I would happily return to The Hotel Per La and recommend it to just about anyone.

My stay at the hotel was okay overall. I appreciated being able to check in early, and the staff was helpful in fixing the issue with the wall — there were holes by the tub from the plumbing, and maintenance took care of it right away, which I truly appreciated. However, I was disappointed that nothing special was done for the occasion I was celebrating. I was told that if they had time, they would send a bottle of wine to the room, but it never arrived. I’ve stayed at many hotels that always acknowledge special celebrations, so it was discouraging that nothing was done here. The room itself was nice, but the small details — like the condition of the wall — and the lack of follow-through for the special occasion made the experience feel less special. Because of that, I’m not sure if I would choose to stay here again.

I had a terrible time at Hotel Perla in LA. I stayed there for two nights and noticed charges at the hotel bar for over $100 (I don’t drink alcohol) the front desk lady was also quite rude about the charges asking me if I was sure I didn’t go up to the rooftop bar. Double check your receipts when you are checking out this place is terrible.

DO NOT STAY HERE. This place is greedy, unprofessional, and a total embarrassment to Marriott. This hotel fundamentally failed to meet basic hospitality standards. While the restaurant, room decor was photographically adequate, the overall experience was unacceptable. 1.Guest Services: - No luggage assistance upon arrival despite multiple requests (carried all bags myself) - Unwelcoming staff attitude throughout 5-night stay. Felt actively unwelcome and unwanted, I would’ve left immediately if they refunded even 20%! 2. Substandard Accommodations: - No view with Zero privacy (windows directly facing other rooms, non-opening) - Missing standard amenities (no water/coffee-tea facilities) - Exploitative minibar pricing 3.Valet Failures ($60/day): for WHAT?! - Daily 30+ minute delays requiring excessive follow-up - Inconvenienced plans due to poor service 4.Predatory Fee Structure (Destination fees) (+$40/night): - Mandatory fee. The "big perk”? A $18 daily credit for their restaurant..BUT with restrictive conditions: *Daily expiration -Non-transferable between days (can’t accumulate it!) *No room service after 10pm *$20+ minimum per item 5.Billing Violations: -Multiple unauthorized POST-CHECKOUT charges for multiple times! #Financial Impact: - Base: $1,100+ (what I paid through Orbitz for full stay amount) - Additional fees: $580+ - Unauthorized charges: $250+ I reserve all rights regarding the unauthorized charges and may pursue further action if not resolved satisfactorily.

Hotel is nice, property itself is gorgeous but downtown LA is a crime riddled mess of homelessness and it feels unsafe to leave the hotel at night. Also parking is mandatory and $60/night which seems extreme.

Beautiful boutique hotel in DTLA. Close to the Metro and Bus station. You could easily get a share ride anytime of the day. Very safe location. Close to so many restaurants, coffee shops. Staff are nice and friendly. I would definitely stay here again if I could come back here in LA.

A modernized classic downtown L.A. property that is in either walking distance or a short cab ride away from all of the downtown attractions, restaurants, and shopping. There are good restaurants on property — street level, roof top — but their marquis restaurant isn't open everyday for dinner and can be booked for special events when it is. The roof top has a pool and bar with limited dining menu and an unobstructed view of the city. The staff is accommodating and valet parking is available most hours.

The inside of the hotel is absolutely beautiful, with stunning architecture. Just be aware that it's located near Skid Row, so the area outside might feel a little challenging.

Very good hotel but downtown life is not safe and attractive

Beautiful hotel in a former bank building. Nice room, restaurant and bar. Great roof deck with pool. There isn't much to see or do in the immediate area, and downtown LA in general has some very sketchy blocks.

I booked this hotel because of the location. The hotel itself is beautiful and clean and safe.

Location is great, lots of food options around the area.

Gorgeous building with top notch design. Comfortable beds and great restaurant. Everyone except one bar tender with bleach blond hair who gave me attitude about asking to break some $20’s (to TIP EVERYONE!!) was really nice. She should be spoken to. Will say the pool wasn’t really heated (as described) but it was nicer up there than the pics. Overall we loved it and would likely stay again. The neighborhood downtown can be dodgy (especially at night, but this block was pretty bustling.

Loved the property, loved the room and staff! Everything was exceptionally clean and well appointed, the staff were attentive and helpful. The rooftop pool was out of this world beautiful, surrounded by potted citrus trees and flowers. Would stay there again if it were located anywhere else. The neighborhood was mainly full of folks experiencing homelessness, addiction and obvious mental illness. My kiddo and I walked around a lot, at least 10 blocks in every direction, and we mostly saw graffiti, boarded up or empty storefronts, and everything was extremely dirty. A block away we stepped around three individuals smoking crack and fighting in broad daylight. At a restaurant about 5 blocks away, an individual obviously experiencing a mental break attacked a server while we were eating. I was followed and harassed on the street, and felt extremely unsafe.

Only issue was a Netflix gathering that closed the bar and restaurant..for 2 days. Hotel should have given us a bar or restaurant credit or something.

Per La is a very classy and comfortable hotel. I'll rank it as 4+stars. It may look an a little bit overpriced, but if can appreciate the comfort, it will pay off completely. P.S. The quality of food in all joints is excellent!

Such a cute hotel within walking distance of Whole Foods, CVS, Starbucks & lots of amazing restaurants. I was there for work & I just wanted to crash so decide to dine in at the hotel each night, what a great choice! One night they had a jazz trio band that was amazing. I enjoyed the La Rosa cocktail, the burger & a pasta with onion foam… ALL INCREDIBLE! Will be back.

Nice hotel but Downtown LA is still so nasty. It’s very convenient to where we need to go and breakfast is amazing.

The restaurant needs to stay open later, at least weekends, when visitors return from a show or game. The immediate area is VERY unsafe so going to a neighboring place ~1 block is NOT an option. Add a marketplace w/variety of options

Rooms are excellent, so is the overall experience with the exception of the coffee shop and the bar. They open only briefly, cant refresh during the day outside or room Frigo bar

Loved the surprise of the credit -- great coffee and pastries, great restaurant. Design elements were fabulous.
