Packwood Inn

I was reviews of this property before booking. Reviews seemed ok, I knew it would be outdated but that was fine. The good: Friendly staff Conveniently located to white pass The bad: Pool was NOT heated. We stayed during winter and after a day of snowboarding kiddos were looking forward to swimming. Pool was freezing cold, the front desk lady had to remove the cover when we checked in at 3:30pm. She didn’t mention anything to us about the pool not being warm. Not only was the pool freezing there were no lights in pool area. I went to ask the front desk lady about the temperature and the lights. Her response to the pool being cold was “it is heated” when she could tell I wasn’t buying that she then said “well we had to drain it and refill it and it’s cold outside” if the pool wasn’t warm enough to swim in that should have been mentioned when I told her we wanted to swim. I asked about the lights being off. She said they should be on. She did say she was going to call her boss. The pool room itself was in the 50s. I have a Photo of thermostat in the room. I was blow drying my hair at 10pm and our breaker flipped in our room. Had to call the front desk lady to come down, go into the room next to us, which thankfully was unoccupied and flip the breaker. Our room stayed hot all night, almost too hot even with the heater off. Our friends who were next door to us couldn’t sleep because their room was at least 90 degrees even with heat off and window open.

Stayed in a suite. Very large. The pool is drained and they currently don’t have TV, although it’s supposed to be installed soon. All Keurig pods provided were flavored so recommend bringing your own if you like plain coffee.

Wifi didn’t work the evening we arrived. Was working in the am,

air conditioner barely worked and the tvs were not working as well

No tv, and no pool stated on site. Noisy log trucks flying by. We stayed 2hrs and checked out.

The TV was broken. The control for the shower was broken. The handle to the refrigerator was broken. The molding along the carpet was torn out and not repaired. The swimming pool was broken. The bed mattress was old and had collapsed. When we complained we were told that this is why the price ($156) was so cheap! Insulting and outrageous…”

Basic accommodations.Air conditioning was poor. Indoor pool not heated, very stuffy. It was an ok place.

So, it is near the Mt Ranier south entrance and that’s great. You have to catch the office open to get ice. The rooms are dated but clean Maintenance is lacking: all lock mechanisms on inside door are missing; the outlets are so loose anything plugged in fall out. We were told Direct TV is not working but our friends adjacent room had no tv at all! Hot water is at a minimum - shower quick! It was pricey for what we got. So, it sufficed but it was not that great

Basic, clean rooms with basic amenities provided in an older, established and maintained lodging. Pool was under repair, no tv service during stay. Nice "backyard" covered area with potential for outdoor gatherings. With A/C on, white noise for any highway traffic where this lodging is located on. Security latch is old school - almost locked myself in - ha! Easy walking distance of multiple dining locations recommended by the front desk. It was also quiet - whether due to the holiday or neighboring (but not nearby) wildfire.

TV was not working, Pool was not open, Hot water was not coming and sink tap was broken. AC was directly facing to one bed, so one bed was super cold abd another was feeling hit at the same time

This is the worst motel that I ever stayed in. Cold, moldy and smelling of stale cigarettes. The desk staff was cheerful, but unable to book me in to an adequate room. I ended up I'm checking out and booking with another motel. And my refund was denied.

The Packwood Inn was completely adequate for our purposes which was mainly a hot shower, soft clean bed, and our dog welcome. Room 18's shower faucet needs some help. We were warned the TV didn't work which suits us. Though fully occupied it was quiet. Special treat; Elk came to visit the back lot.

The first room they put us in had not been cleaned since the previous guest had stayed in it. Then the room they switched us to did not have a T.V. in it after we had payed more for a room with a T.V.

Staff was fantastic. Clean quiet room.

Black mold in bathroom, no counter in bathroom, small room, pool is empty. Not dirty, just a lot of deferred maintenance.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable and had a few updates such as bedding and carpet. It was also quiet even though the Inn was full.

Employee that we met was very nice. Call number on door for 24 hr service. The negatives were: Black mold in multiple places in the room and the bathroom. No bathroom fan probably contributed to the mold. Less important, I also think they were working on water lines (air in the lines in bathroom and ice machine outside was empty, and there was a large hole in the ground right next to the key drop off which was blocked off with 2 cones.

Among its peers, this motel does the job well. Clean and good check-in and -out experience. All I needed was a clean bed and bathroom with a/c (wall unit of course), and that’s what I got. Wasn’t looking for something to lounge around in. It is good for what it is. Area doesn’t have a lot of options, and I’d go back to this motel again when in area.

The carpet needs an immediate shampoo. The bed and bathroom were clean and in good shape. The refrigerator was much better than most other hotel refrigerators. The second step from the ground on the stairs not facing the street should be replaced before any more of it rots away. We had a peak of Mt. Rainier from our window!

This was a quaint, clean room, with all the necessary items for a short stay. Window opened but no screen. Being on the second floor with an a view of Mt. Rainer was great. Others need to know only outdoor stair access to second floor.

Our room was small, marginally clean. The office was not well staffed. Our reason for visiting was to go to Mt Rainier, so we didn’t spend much extra time in our room. The wi-fi and TV did work well, so that was a positive. Mt Rainier is beautiful!

The front desk staff was kind and quick to help when we needed it. There was an issue with our room key upon check in, and they explained to us that the hotel has been closed and recently reopened after some renovations. They are still renovating, so the pool was under construction. We got an “original” room, so it was definitely in need of an upgrade, but was clean and functional. The bed was very comfortable, though, the pillows are awful! The hotel is just off the main road (as are most hotels), so it can be loud when trucks and motorcycles go by. The cable was out, but the internet was working well. The hotel was within walking distance to many restaurants.

Older property. No hairdryer. Frig was loud and so was other people in adjoining rooms. Maybe needs better soundproofing?

In room AC was weak to non-functional, shared water heatereant insufficient hot water in the morning. Staff was excellent, room was otherwise clean and comfortable. Easy walk to dining/shopping. Easy parking, easy to find. Would stay at this location again for easy trips to Mt.Rainer National Park or Mt.Saint Helens.

After a long day of hiking at mt Rainer, I jumped in the shower for it just to turn ice cold within a minute. Took a very very cold shower trying to remove dirt and sweat from the day in nature. Called after hours number and got a call back and said it was fixed, after about 20-30 minute my room had hot water. They did apologize for the inconvenience. By then I was in bed tired and sore from hiking. The bed was very very hard and uncomfortable to say the least. Although the staff was nice this is not a place I would stay again after a long day of hiking. I had a reservation for two nights and put my room key in the drop after the first night and drove the 4 hours home after my second day of hiking.

Nice location and very close to Mt Raininer NP. Also has a grocery nearby in walking distance. But our room is kind in bad condition. Limited ceiling height and feels not spacious, I would say it is rather a motel not an Inn. Very noisy especially when people walking upstairs.

The only key positive about this place is its proximity to Mt. Ranier NP. Otherwise it is really old and dated. The dark decor makes made it worse. The big downside is the bathroom. The bathroom window offers no privacy. An opaque glass or curtain would work. Otherwise it’s an average place that is fairly clean.

The bed in room 9 was the best bed I have ever slept on in a motel. Nice quiet room.

Customer service was 110%. Especially Jessy- so sweet. Extra effort before we arrived to get us friends close together. Very friendly and eager to help us have a great time. This is an older place, and right off a busy (noisy) road, but as long as you know that going in, you will have a nice stay. The bed was very comfortable and the kids loved the pool!!

This was nice for a little one night stay! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They also did our laundry for us which was so kind! Really appreciate that as a PCT hiker. Would recommend for anyone stopping in Packwood for a nero or zero!

The service was excellent. The staff tended to our every need The room was clean and nice.. the beds were comfortable. The only thing lacking was they had no tv because the service wasn’t on and the pool wasn’t open. That was a bummer but other than that we enjoyed our stay

Staff were great.

Stayed for 3 nights. They claim they don’t service the rooms during your stay but they entered our room each day. On the second day we returned to find the lights on and the door ajar. Nothing seemed to be missing but when I inquired at the front desk she stated that was odd since they don’t service the rooms during your stay. They had swapped out our towels and emptied trash, just didn’t close the door!

Room was alright, no bugs at least. Bed was broken and caused awful back pain the next day. Staff was nice but mistakenly gave our room key to another man after we had checked in.

Older property but clean room and air conditioner. Super convenient as grocery store is right next door and restaurants within walking distance including a coffee shop and brewery! Front office staff was friendly and the location is convenient for those headed to the Paradise and Sunrise entrances of Mt. Rainier. Highly recommend Packwood Inn.

Great home base to visit Mt Rainier, since you can see Mt Rainier from the motel, you can decide whether or not it's worth it to go up the mountain based on cloud condition.

Although the staff was pleasant, the place was quite run down (stairs and railings a little rickety) and lacked any green areas - just lots of asphalt and junk behind. It was a good location and was close to a number of restaurants within walking distance and close the the Sunrise entrance to Mt. Rainier. Made up for the conditions.

Friendly check-in. Couple of eating options available in walking distance (though none were open for breakfast). We had a good, quiet stay.

We had a great stay at Packwood Inn and really loved the location—it’s conveniently close to a grocery store. Our room had 2 queen beds and a kitchen, which was perfect for our trip. Having the kitchen was a huge plus since we were able to cook our own meals and prep food for our hike to Mount Rainier. The only downsides were that the kitchen faucet water pressure was quite weak and the washroom had a bit of a strange smell. Other than that, everything else worked well for us. Overall, I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for a budget-friendly stay with the bonus of having a kitchen, especially if you’re planning a hiking trip to Mount Rainier.
